Dr. Zografakis did Rouen-Y surgery on my 5/21/12. Everything went extremely well. I was home after on 2 days in the hospital. His office staff has been fantastic and to date I have lost 216 lbs with no problems whatsoever. The doctor is exceptional with a great bed side manner and his staff is very good as well.

I had a Rny scheduled 4 years ago with another doctor in Cleveland and because I have a blood clotting issues and I have to take a blood thinner as well as not wanting a blood transfusion for religious reasons, the doctor called me 1 week before my surgery because he was nervous about operating on me.I canceled the surgery. If the doctor in Cleveland was nervous about the surgery I did not want him to operate on me and neither did my husband. Last April 2013 I decided I needed to do something so I made a appointment with Dr Dan. My husband and I went to see Dr Dan and after telling him about the blood clotting issues and not wanting a blood transfusion if needed, he was still very confident he could perform the Rny surgery. Dr Dan answered all questions and was very nice. After talking to me I felt confident and not worried. 2/13/2014 I had my Rny done by Dr Dan. I would recommend him he is surgically competent and has a great beside manner.I even got flowers the next day while in the hospital from Dr Dan.What doctor does that? The hospital nurses where right there for me and made sure I was always comfortable. I was in very little pain because they made sure I always got my medicine on time.Thank you Dr Dan

Dr. Dan, Is an amazing Doctor. The day my surgery I was very nervous and I weighed 285 pounds. My surgery went a little long because I had my gallbladder removed as well. I woke up a little bit that night, but for the most part they wanted me sleep through the night. Dr. Dan gave me back so much of my life, I have a seven-year-old daughter that I can do things with instead of watching. I am almost at my fifth month out of surgery and I have lost significant amount of weight. Prior to my liquid diet away 300 pounds, which was two weeks before surgery and I am now at 225 pounds. I would recommend Dr. Dan to anyone. I have even recommended Dr. Dan, who does hernia repairs as well to my mother and she will be having surgery in February. Dr. Dan is a very kind and caring doctor and helps his patients a great deal through their journey. You definitely do not feel like you're alone and that they follow you through your recovery and follow you through your weight loss.

I would definitely recommend Dr. Dan. I had my rny in July,2013 and since that time I have lost 107 pounds and regained my life. Before I had the surgery I thought it was taking forever to get through all of the requirements. Afterwards I understand why. Although I was very nervous, I felt prepared and knew what to expect. Although I had a bit of a rough start, I have no regrets. I am experiencing benefits that I had not even considered.

Dr. Dan performed gastric bypass surgery on me in May, 2013. Though it's only been six months since my surgery, I know that my life is forever changed. I went to my initial consultation wary, thinking that if I had surgery at all, it would be the sleeve. Like so many others, I had heard the horror stories about RNY. But Dr. Dan told me that he felt gastric bypass was the right surgery for me. He answered my questions, calmed my fears, and within just a short period of time, he made me believe in him. He was so excited and passionate about the surgery. He told me my life was going to change.

Once I decided to go forth with RNY, I wanted to get on with it quickly. My insurance didn't have many requirements, but Dr. Dan sure did. It still took months of testing to get a surgery date. I was initially discouraged, but that time was so important. Number one, it gave me time to prepare for such a life changer. I had time to learn more and to make sure this was really something I was ready to do. Secondly, it let Dr. Dan know that I was healthy enough for surgery. There's a reason he has such an amazing success record. No stone was left unturned.

The pre-op education was overwhelming but so necessary. The nutritionists made sure we knew exactly what we could eat, couldn't eat, the importance of the vitamins and protein, etc. The nurses let us know exactly what was going to happen in the hospital step by step. There was no room for confusion. They made sure we were prepared.

In the OR, I couldn't help but be nervous. The last thing I remember before falling asleep was Dr. Dan squeezing my hand and letting me know he was there. The hospital stay went just as I was told it would, and they even sent a visiting nurse to my house a couple days after discharge. My drain slipped a few days later, and they had no problem getting me right in to remove it. The pain lasted a little longer than I'd expected, but one moment about four weeks after the surgery, the pain just completely disappeared.

These past six months have been crazy. I've watched my weight drop. I've watched my confidence rise. I now care about things like exercise and nutrition, things that never crossed my mind before. I'm teaching my children how to be healthy. I look like a different person, but most importantly, I feel like a different person. I'm not tired all the time now. My sleep apnea is gone. I can get on the floor and play with my kids. We did the hiking spree this fall. I never could have done that before.

I've worked hard for this. It's not the easy way to lose weight, like some people think. It's difficult. But it's worth it. I would do it again in a heartbeat if Dr. Dan was the surgeon. Every time I have an appointment, he greets me with a hug. He says we've been through too much for a handshake. That's the kind of surgeon you want on your side.

Dr. Dan has been amazing. A little over a year ago, I began my journey with bariatric surgery. Dr. Dan has been informative and supportive all along the way. I had my gastric sleeve done on April 11, 2013. As of Oct. 23, 2013, I have lost 130 lbs. Dr. Dan and the staff at Summa Bariatric have given me hope for my life back. I have a way to go to reach my goal but already I feel better, get around better, and have had medical problems almost totally disappear. I highly recommend Dr. Dan!

I cant say thanks enough to Dr. Dan. He is just not a life saver but a memory maker also. I started my weight loss journey a year ago May 2012 after a friend of mine had hers. My whole family is or were over weight and many members have not lived past 50 years of age. After turning 35 and thinking every day that I only had 15 years left to live I decide to call. The first visit to the office (35 years old and 363 pounds) I was scared to death, embarrassed, and ashamed of my weight and the fact that I was looking into surgery was overwhelming. As I sat there in the office crying as they are taking my measurements. I was so ashamed. The intake person asked why I was so upset. I said because I can't believe that I let this get so out of hand. He said it was okay and that I should be proud of myself for wanting to make a change and to trust him a year from now I would be happy I came to the first visit. At that moment I knew that this was just not a business for them, but they actually cared. Then Dr. Dan came in and introduced himself, he was really soft spoken shook my hand and explained the program to me. I remember explaining him my family history and that many only lived until 50 and that was only 15 years left for me. He reassured me that this hopefully would add many more then 15 years on. As the process went on the staff walked me step by step through each test and evaluation and I felt really good and comfortable about the decision I made to have surgery. They prepare me very well for life before and after surgery and the classes you sit through are really educational. But I must admit during the class about the actual surgery, I did have a panic attack. I could not breathe and started crying. The staff took me out of class and talked to me. They reassured me that I could talk to anyone of the staff members at anytime, and they reminded me that this surgery was an elective operation and if I did not want to do it I did not have to do it at all or could put it off(again showing they are just not a business of making people skinny). Well anyway I still had my doubts but after talking to my family and young sons about what I would be able to do after surgery like riding roller coasters, flying on a plane, and riding bikes. I decided to go through with it. I made up my mind when I lost weight the first thing I was going to do was take my boys to Disney. The last visit before the surgery I met with Dr. Dan again I told him my doubts and he reassured me that I was in good hands that he has completed the surgery many times and has never lost any one and that I was not going to be the first. My surgery was on Nov 1, 2012. Since may 2012 I have lost a total of 113 pounds no complications and the team has been very supportive with the follow up appointments.
Most recently I started having gallbladder issues there was no questioning who I was going to have it removed. Dr. Dan completed that surgery May 23 2013. Before the surgery the nurse asked why I was so calm I stated because I knew I was great hands with Dr. Dan. Happy to report no problems with that surgery also.
I am also proud report that in April we did take our boys to Disney, on a plane, road all the rides, and created a lifetime of memories.
Thanks again Dr. Dan for making that possible and for the many memories that are about to come.
