I cant thank Dr. Dan enough for changing my life. I am almost 5 months post op and I am down 105 lbs since my journey began. The team at Summa's Bariatric Center felt more like going to visit a group of friends who supported me then it did going to a doctors office.
I used to avoid doing everything, walking, going out, taking pictures because I was so miserable I couldn't move and was too embarrassed to be seen, so I avoided life all together. Now I am excited again. I don't mind going for long walks, I actually enjoy them again, and I love o be seen. No more hiding in the background for me any more. I no longer look down the hall of the high school that I work at and think, Oh God, I'm never gonna make it to there without needing to stop for a break.
Not only did this surgery change my life but it also saved my life I felt like I was literally dying. I knew I was slowly killing myself with food and inactivity. Then on the day of my surgery, when I was ope and on the table, Dr. Dan found that my liver was having issues. I was sent to a liver specialist after the surgery, where he said that this surgery was going to be a life saver.
Since my surgery Dr. Dan and the office have been so supportive. I couldn't have asked for a better experience or a better doctor. I have friends who have gone to other offices and hospitals for their surgery, and they do not get the thorough care that I have been given. I feel truly lucky to have had he experience that I had, and I highly recommend Dr. Dan to everyone that I know who is even interested in having the surgery.

Wonderful doctor, great surgeon, and his bedside manor can't be beat.I would recommend him to anyone looking to have surgery, bariatric surgery in particular. DR. DAN IS THE MAN!!!! I couldn't have had a better surgeon! From day one he stayed 100% honest about my options and what would truly be the best route for me and not slipping me into a category. I truly believe that on my journey Dr. Dan has been more than a surgeon but a great friend. Totally having my back and letting me know that times may get hard and things might get rough but never once telling me I had to do it alone. The whole bariatric team is simply amazing! Dr. Wells, Laura, Dr. Perkins, The girls at the front desk, Noel, and even the nurses that do the routine "Blood Pressure, Temperature" check made me feel completely at home. Having to see them every month or every couple of weeks really made them feel like a family away from family. I was COMPLETELY informed on my RNY operation and what to expect before and after surgery. Even being able to call the dietician when I was having headaches for what to me were "unexplained'' reasons, and she was able to help me knock them out over the phone and I have not had a problem since. I love my bariatric team. I love Dr. Dan. I had the best experience that a patient could have and I would not trade it in for the world, because I had the worlds best surgeon!

I had the Roux-en-Y gastric Bypass Surgery on Dec. 21, 2012. My experience with the Summa Bariatric Center has been a wonderful journey! The education given to me by the nurses, dieticians and psychologists from the Summa Bariatric Center never left me with unanswered questions about myself or the care I needed. Dr. Ken Wells, the director that I saw for 6 months prior to my surgery, was upbeat, and happy all the time. I enjoyed his visits. Dr. Adrian Dan, my surgeon, was thorough and soft spoken. He explained everything about the surgery in plain words and had a very caring manner. After the surgery, he was available for any questions, or possible problems I could have had. I look forward to their help as I move on with my healthy lifestyle I have learned from them.

My experiences with Dr. Dan have been wonderful. He is kind and really cares about his patients. I researched most bariatric programs in NE OH and Dr. Dan's team was the best. He is a true professional. He was so reassuring and I always felt confident in his abilities. His bariatric team is a great bonus too. Everyone works together so the process is efficient. You are the center of a great wheel where your nutrition, psych, exercise and medical professionals focus. My care didn't end after the surgery. The followup care is so complete. Whenever I had a question I always received a callback in a very timely manner. My surgery went so well with zero complications. Dr. Dan makes sure that you are as healthy as possible before the surgery. The education and prep before surgery helped alleviate my fears by being well informed about what would have before during and after surgery. I made the best decision of my life by choosing Dr. Dan and the Summa Bariatric team.

Dr Z is amazing!!!!!!!!!! He is energetic, has a good sense of humor but will be serious and professional when necessary. I just had VSG (Sleeve) surgery on Monday (11/5/12) and it went very well. I went in for the Lap Band but Dr. Z does not recommend it. Too many post-op complications. So just FYI if you are dead set on the Lap Band. He told me he would do it if my heart was super set on it but he really pushes you towards the VSG surgery. And I am glad he did. I couldn't be happier!

His Bariatric Clinic at Summa is awesome. They thoroughly prepare you for the surgery. You see a nutritionist, a psychologist, and Dr. Wells who is just committed to pre-op weight loss. You go to an Optifast diet class (you are on Optifast 2-8 weeks pre-op depending on your BMI) as well as an exercise class and a nutrition class. The nutrition class is soooooo informative for post-op nutrition and care.

The Summa clinic itself is very very busy. They have added a third surgeon because of this. It is very hard to get an appointment but Jeff the scheduler is very good. He tries his best to work around your schedule. But honestly a lot of appointments are very inconvenient (and you will have many appointments) but make sure you keep them no matter what and do not be late.

After the surgery Dr Z visited me several times. He is so uplifting and supportive and sincere. He wants you as comfortable as possible. He even sent me flowers! I guess they send all patients postop flowers, but that was such a nice surprise. I even have a nurse coming out this weekend to check on me to make sure all is well.

I highly recommend Dr Z and his Summa Bariatric Center as your place to have your gastric surgery!

I had Gastric Bypass Surgery May 22nd 2011 and Dr Adrian Dan did the surgery and he was incredible from his bed side manners to his after surgery could not get a more caring and honest doctor in the world I think. I own 2 businesses and I know how to treat people and he is top knotch. Was 340 lbs and I am down to 217 for a total loss of 123 Lbs. Yea!!!!! Dr. Dan you save lives, Thanks. Dr. Dan...he's heaven sent! He has changed my entire life. He and his entire team are professional, full of knowledge and willing to answer any and all questions. They want you to completely understand all the risks and changes involved in having WLS. When making such a huge decision it is important to feel confident in your surgical team and with Dr. Dan and the Summa Bariatric Center, that was easy for me. I worked the program which included classes on nutrition and exercise, quit smoking (Dr. Dan requires this) and did everything Dr. Dan and his team told me to. I had my 6 month follow up today and I am down 75 lbs. I went on vacation last week and rode a roller coaster for the first time in over 10 years. I played football on the beach with everyone else and was actually able to keep up. I could never list all the ways my life has changed. I tell people all the time I never realized how bad I felt physically/emotionally until now when I look back. They say hind sight is 20/20... that is so true. I could never thank Dr. Dan enough for giving me my life back. This surgery helped me take control of my life and today I can honestly say...I am happy!

I am a patient of Dr. Dan. I have been very impressed with my care from him and his staff. He has been very thorough with explaining to me about the different options and risks concerning weight loss surgery. I felt very knowledgeable about the surgery I choose (RNY). There are classes on nutrition, exercise, and pre and post op care. They let you know that your care does not end after surgery and that they are there for any future help or questions. Dr. Dan and his entire staff are so helpful, compassionate, and friendly.

It has only been a month since my RNY surgery and I have already lost 40 pounds. I am on my way to a healthy new me thanks to Dr. Dan. I would highly recommend him to anyone considering weight loss surgery.

He is so enthusiastic and supportive. I have faith that my surgery Wed will go well. I feel very prepared by all the nutrition, exercise,and pre-op classes i have had. Also, the required psychologist visits were helpful. I know that if I have any questions or issues after surgery their entire team is available to help. They have a nutritionist, exercise physiologist,psychologist, and nurse practitioner an staff and all available anytime. Feel very prepared and supported.The aftercare includes seeing all of the above mentioned and monthly support groups.
