Roger Williams Medical Center Bariatrics Hospital
Dr. Pohl is very straight forward and tells you what he expects. His staff is very busy but extremely helpful and sensitive. He operated on my MD for another health problem and if he could operate on him he can operate on me.

Met Dr. Pohl on July 10th. I found him to be professional, honest, thorough and caring. He treated me in the same manner. I appreciate that. I left his office at 5:40pm and went to a 3 hour presentation by him which started at 6:00pm. He beat me there. After an entire day in the office, he spent 3 more hours telling more than 200 people like me all about the surgeries. Exceptional dedication I see. He really impressed me. Something you don't often see in a surgeon, he's rather witty too!
The pamphlet he has put together is very helpful as a reference tool.
His office was very, very small and busy. Had to wait 1 1/2 hours to see Dr. Pohl. But it was worth it. The office staff is pleasant and helpful too.
I described in detail my actual stay, but to add some more... the ER was filthy...blood stains on the walls, filthy bathrooms. The staff was mixed. There were some excellent nurses with every desire to see that you were comfortable, but there were others that lacked in that extra spark. The facility is old and out dated. Most doors do not open manually or have handicap buttons so if you are going anyplace it's a start and stop fest. The curtain dividers in the ER and both my rooms were so nasty, I wonder if I contracted my UTI from touching them. There were missing "things" like personal TV's, clocks, working remotes/call buttons and such. When I was first discharged...I was handed my papers and basically patted on the back. I had to stop and rest three times before I got to the out door on the first floor. (I had been walking, but not 10 minutes worth all at once...hadn't built up to that) My surgeon is a dream and I would still go with him knowing the condition of the hospital. The did know to bring the shakes up and I never saw a tray so no temptation!
Dr. Pohl and his staff have been very helpful.
i found dr. pohl funny but right to the point .very knowlageable 6-16=03 == I MET WITH DR POHL TODAY HE IS RIGHT TO THE POINT AND I FELT REALLY GOOD ABOUT GOING FORWARD WITH MY SURGERY I HAVE A DATE 8-6-03 AND IM GOING IN FOR PRE-ADMISSION TESTING AND 7-3-03 I SEE HIM AGIAN TO SEE IF HE GOT ALL MY RESULTS BACK.the only thing i disliked was having to see him twice dont feel i need to. office staff is great
He was great, I really feel comfortable with him doing the surgery.
Dr. Pohl is great, from my first appointment with him, I knew he cared deeply for his patients. During my brief stay in the hospital, his was the last face I say at night and the first face I saw in the morning.
Overall, Dr. Pohl is a great Doctor. He's changed my life.
Dr. Dieter Pohl is conservative, strict doctor, who is right to the point in explaining the risks of the surgery, and a perfectionist in his procedures. He is a wonderful doctor with a very warm heart to give this gift to all his patients so that they can live their lives in a healthier body - and live longer. Dr. Pohl is our superman!
