If you want to be waited on forget it they are way too short staffed for that. I had to ring the nurse each time I wanted meds. The hospital has signs all over about being a pain free environment. I found this to be far from the truth. Also I was never assisted in walking, toileting etc. I was very uncomfortable and could have used a helping hand.

Dr Pohl is a kind and sincere and very informative person! I found him and his office staff to be very pleasant and you didnt feel like an outcast because of your weight.Dr Pohl gives you all the information you could possibly need about the surgery and aftercare. He informs you about the risks of surgery and also makes you aware that this is a tool and how you have to make life changes and use this tool to help you through your weight loss journey. I have full confidence in my upcomming surgery with Dr Pohl....

The nasal oxygen fell on floor and nurse attempted to put it back in my nose. One nurse forced me to get out of bed without any assistance except for a walker which almost slipped away. The bathroom was dirty. But the biggest thing was that I contracted MERCER, which is a staph infection.I don't know if it was from dirty hands, tools, or what, but it definitely made my recovery worse.

DR.POHL AND HIS STAFF ARE VERY NICE, FRIENDLY AND COMPETANT PEOPLE. I'VE HAD NO PROBLEMS BOTH TIMES I WENT THERE. AT MY FIRST VISIT I WAS VERY NERVOUS AND WAS STILL UNSURE IF THIS WAS SOMETHING I COULD DO. DR.POHL EXPLAINED ALL THE DETAILS INCLUDING THE RISKS. HE WAS VERY GENTLE,WITH A POSITIVE EXPLAINATION OF THE PROCEDURE.I ATTEND A MONTHLY SUPPORT MEETING THAT DR.POHL HAS AT THE HOSPITAL WHERE HE PERFORMS THE SURGERY. HE COMES IN AND ANSWERS ANY QUESTIONS WE HAVE AND AGAIN SHOWS A WARM, OPENNESS THAT IS SO REASSURING I HIGHLY RECOMMEND DR. POHL AND HIS STAFF.

August 15th finally came and I ejoyed every moment of my appointment with Dr. Pohl. He was very polite and pofessional. He fully explained the surgery, before & after care. He also explained what the hospital stay would be like. I had plenty of questions and he answered them all. He was very patient with me and he took his time to explain answers to the questions I asked. It helps to have your questions written down before hand. The office staff was very pleasant and also very helpful. It was a pleasant experience. And I look forward to working with Dr. Pohl and his staff in the future.

I was coughed on by one nurse, who tried to push my pain medication into my IV way too fast, burning my vein painfully. I observed another nurse emptying the plastic urine measuring catcher and proceeding to handle other patients without washing her hands first! Overall, my care at Roger Williams Medical Center was good, but these other incidents were disturbing.

Dr. Dieter Pohl has an exemplary reputation in Rhode Island as a very skilled surgeon and a very caring physician. He goes out of his way to make sure you are doing well and staying healthy. When I was finished with all my pre-op tests with several specialists, his office put together a letter of request to my health insurance company, which is Blue Chip of RI. They do it all for you! The request was approved in just over a week and I was overjoyed! Dr. Pohl is very thorough in going over everything you can expect before and after your surgery and you're given lots of written information to refer to again and again as you proceed with your weight loss efforts. So far, I am very pleased with the care I've received, both prior to and just following my surgery. As I write this, I am just 4 days post-op - I just came home from the hospital yesterday and I'm so glad to be home again!

THE CARE IS EXCELLENT, THE NURSES ARE ATTENTIVE.

I liked him from the first visit. He was friendly, forthcoming, and treated me like an intelligent adult. I have not changed my opinion. The office staff is wonderful. Very warm, very reassuring, very supportive. The information provided about risks was accurate and we were all encouraged to do our own research as well, and ask questions.
