Orange Coast Memorial Medical Center (COE) Hospital
The staff was not helpful at all in helping me out of bed. They just stood there and watched me flob around like a fish. When they took me off the IV, I did not realize I had to ask for pain meds and went way too long and became very sick and sore when not needed. When they came with the wheelchair to leave the hospital, I could not fit and they did not have another. I can't imagine I was thier heaviest patient. The privacy and having my own room was great. It was nice to be able to just focus on my own recoverery
Staff was friendly and kind, but when it came to issues I felt were important, they fell short. They kept promising to walk be, but only did twice. The circulation boots...they kept forgeting to turn them back on. My IV came out between 1:30 and 3am on the 2nd day. I woke up at 3am with a sore harnd, couldn't touch my fingers or close my hand, called the nurse who didn't even turn on the light when she looked at it. Nurse said "oh, it's just a bit swollen, but looks fine" and left the room. I somehow managed to sit up in bed (still no light) and saw that my hand looked like a surgeons glove blown up with air! I quickly called for the nurse again. The CNA came in, took a look in the dark and said that my IV must have come out. She turned on the light, tortured my other arm for about 15 minutes trying to get an IV in it...called for assistance...then the CNA and RN decided that the woould have to go back in on the original arm. Needless to say that my hand was the size of my head. They told me not to worry, they put a hot rag on it and left. I fell asleep and woke a couple hours later to see that my wristband was digging in to my skin. I never again trusted them. Saturday morning was the day I decided I had to get the hell out of there, Started with the 7am shift...I called it the "parade of Perfumes". Smelled like the staff had been given free bottles of perfumes and they all decided to pour it on! So, I decided that mentall and perhaps physically I NEED to be home. Thankfully, they obliged. I had no idea that you needed to bring your own people to walk you and look out for you while you are in the hospital...I just had NO clue! Bad experience!
