The hospital was fine I suppose. I have two incidents that bothered me. The first one was when I tried getting out of bed the 2nd day and the evening nurse aide didn't help me at first. She just stood there. I told her I was in pain. She finally said, "Do you need my hand?" I said, "YES!" Then while I was walking to the bathroom she said, "I don't know why you're in so much pain." UMMM EXCUSE ME!!!
The second thing that bothered me was on Friday (my 3rd day), one of my cuffs wasn't working properly. The nurse aides kept saying they called asking the supply people for ones that worked. Needless to say, they never brought me ones that worked. To me that was very poor. The nurse aides didn't appear concerned as I was walking by that time. They kept the cuffs off. It wasn't until the evening that another nurse aid fixed the cuff that wasn't working. She then hooked me up.

The only complait I had about my stay was that the nursing staff seemed to be short handed. Anytime I needed assistance it took 2-3 calls from me and at least 15-30 minutes for someone to come to my room. Often it was for assistance out of bed to use the restroom etc...this was a bit frustrating. The staff however was wonderful.

I want anyone that goes through this hospital, that they are understaffed, and use a lot of Nurses Aides. I had some special needs as a bariatric patient, and I was the one who had insist upon, walks, wrapping my legs, getting my special boots for circulation and so forth. When you call for a nurse, expect to wait at least 1/2 hour for a response. The nurses were caring, but there were not enough of them. Mostly aides, who can not dispense certain types of care. I would not give them an F, but if I were not so insistant about getting the care, that I knew I needed, from my research, I don't know how the heeling process would go. I'm writing a letter the administrator of this place as well, to let them know how bad it is.

My overall opinion is that this is a excellent hospital for WLS. My pre-op testing was all completed as an out patient in the hospital. Parking was mostly adequate & free. Staff was friendly & professional. Facilities were bright & cheerful. There is a very good WLS support group meeting weekly in the hospital lead by a psychologist associated with the WLS program at the hospital.
