I felt very assured after my initial consult with Dr. Boorse. He is a consummate professional. He thoroughly explained everything to my father and myself. He tolerated my dad's long windedness when he went off on a tangent about The South Beach Diet. That meant a lot to me.

He presented a very friendly demeanor. He let me ask my questions. He did not rush me. We scheduled surgery quickly and his office staff dealt with my insurance company. I was approved in 2 days. I liked least the obligitory cold hand shake he felt required to give me when he walked in the door. We had a relationship for greater than 1 1/2 years before I no longer required his follow-up. He did not have an aftercare program in 2000 when I had my surgery. There is now a support group and more since the surgery has become so popular and he has become more recognized. I developed a hernia 8 months post op which was explained to me as a side effect. He was a good surgeon. I just wish he and his staff would have listened to me more when I knew I had developed complications after the hernia repair. A colleague of Dr. Boorse left a surgical sponge inside of me and I developed an infection. The symptoms were there and I complained weekly about them, but they ignored me for 2 months until another colleague identified that maybe something was wrong and I should have a cat scan. And a surgery to remove the sponge. Needless to say, this last part strained our relationship a bit. This was still the best thing I have ever done for me. 202 pounds down and maintained for 2.5 years. And, Dr. Boorse was a large part of that. The above statements are only my opinion.

The staff was pleasant but mostly inaccessible. The day of surgery they were very helpful, after that, scarce. My room was in close proximity to where the staff always hung out to gossip, and that was a bit of a problem, I was in no mood to hear the female nursing staff flirting with the male staff and all the inter-office chatter. Funny how you could hear them just outside the room, but as soon as you rang for one of them it took some time to arrive. All in all, good care. How good CAN hospital stays be ???

In general they were kind. A little slow at responding to the call buttons, but in general they were ok. I was disappointed that I didn't receive a care package with the necessary toiletries and I had to ask for bath towels and wash clothes. These weren't provided. So that was annoying. If it weren't for my family, they were the ones that helped me bathe and get me ice chips. So my review of LVH is that they are ok. Nothing to write home about.

Dr. Boorse was very nice. He explained what was going to happen and asked if I had any questions. He pretty much answered all that I had before I asked.
I still like him. I did not have to wait long in the waiting room. The staff was ok nothing good or bad to say.
Dr. Boorse was good looking and did not make me feel like a fat person just a person. He is in very good shape and good looking.
Not much about aftercare just things to eat and not to lift and thing heavy.
Said I was a good canadate for the surgery that there are risks but I was in good health to start with. I would rate Dr. Boorse excellent. I would say his surgical competence was better because I only saw him one time after the surgery at the hospital. The rest of the time it was his ass. who was not as nice.

Dr Boorse is a very competent and pleasant person. Easy to talk to and his staff was nice to deal with. I had no bad impression of his staff everyone was professional and curtious. My young daughter even recieved a lolipop from one of the nurses. :)funny that they had candy dishes all over the office..but it is not just a WLS facility.

I am still amazed how quickly they were able to get a pre-cert from my insurance company. My appointment was at 10:10 am and by 1:05 Lynn left a message on my phone that I was approved over the phone !!

He explained how the diet must be modified after surgery and you MUST attend a pre-surgery class at the Hospital. He also stresses the biggest concern of his is leaks and explains all that could happen during surgery. Since I had previous surgery ( 3 c-sections) he explained about having to "clean up" lessions in my abdomen and possibility of having to go with the open RNY.

I am very comfortable with my choice. Rates a 10 in all fields.
