LIKED HIM RIGHT AWAY,GENTEL MANNER NOT AT ALL HE TELLS THE TRUTH NO FALSE EXPECTATIONS A LITTLE COLD STAND OFFISH BECAUSE HE IS SOBOOKED HE CAN'T SPEND ALOT OF TIME WITH YOU. HE IS VERY GOOD AT WHAT HE DOSE ,DOES'T TAKE CHANCES. NOT TO MUCH UNLESS THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG. RIGHT HEAD ON, MY BLOOD SURGER WAS UP THE DAY OF SURGERY, HE WOULD NOT DO SURGERY TILL IT WAS AT A SAFE LEVEL. 100% BOTH FELT I WAS IN GOOD HADS AT ALL TIMES. LEVEL

I love Dr. Boorse. He has a great bed side manor and I believe he really cares about your progress. Its hard for him to understand how a person can hate exercise so much because he is an avid exerciser! There really is no support system here at the hospital though. I think there should definately be a support group with scheduled monthly meetings. Thats a very important part of my journey that is missing.

Dr. Boorse was very nice and put me at ease. I felt he was very knowledgable about this surgery. His office staff was very nice also and I did not wait very long in the waiting room. He answered all my questions. I really felt I was in good hands. I was surprised to get an appt. so quickly as I only waited for 2.5 mos. My cousing waited 8 mos. to see him. She is the one the recommended him to me. I was even more shocked to find out that my surgery would be sceduled for Nov. 17, less than a mos away. I had signed up expecting an 8 mos wait as my co-worker is on maternity leave. I was more scared telling my boss that I would be out for a mos than I was the surgery LOL. My insurance required no referrals or visits with a counselor so it was approved in a few days!
My cousin was heartbroken and I felt bad that she had not recieved approval yet.
Surgery went well and Dr Boorse and his associates checked in on me often and were very responsive to my needs. I had a bad reaction to the morphine and they weren't able to give me anything else till the swallow test the next morning but they did try their best to make me comfortable. Dr Boorse has a good bedside mannor. The only thing negative I can say is that he must never had any surgery himself as he told me to drive around and go shopping on the day he discharged me 2 days post op. I didn't feel like shopping or riding around in the car LOL. I also wish he and the hospital would form a support group but they haven't

When I met Dr. Boorse, I was very impressed. He explained everything to me and told me that if I wanted to do this, I needed to do things just as he said to do and there would be no problem. Well I did just that and I had no problems. I was very impressed with him, his staff and all follow up. I highly recommend Dr. Boorse for gastric bypass surgery and would do it all over again. No one should hesitate to wait for Dr. Boorse. I know he has a long waiting list but it is worth it. Hats off to Dr. Boorse and his staff. He stated the risks and made sure I understood every aspect of the surgery. Like I said I would do it again if I had to.

Dr. Boorse was awesome. One of his nurse staff members needed better bedside manner. She was almost rude, but Dr. Boorse was wonderful. On my first visit he drew on a piece of paper what he does during the operation. He said I was one of his smallest patients, but felt the surgery would be a good healthy option for me. He was right, I really liked him as far as a surgeon. I did exactly what he said to do. To this day, after over 13 months being post/op I have never thrown up once, and have had only minor eating issues, usually because I ate the wrong thing and didn't know it. I have had a great recovery, although it took me several months to get my strength back. I am getting B-12 shots once a month and take a potassium pill each day. I am on zero insulin and very few medications at this time. I was taking 35 units of insulin a day plus two glucophage pills a day, still my sugar was too high. I have had very few occastions to take 1-2 units of insulin over the past several months. I have nothing but praise for Dr. Boorse. He also removed my gall bladder at the same time. After the operation the next day Dr. Boorse came in to my room to check up on me. His bedside manner was wonderful. On my return visit to his office, he was kind, but hurried. One thing I have learned about surgeons, they love what they do, and afterwards they are on to the next person to help them with new patients surgery. After care was sufficient, but nothing special. It is not a lack on his part, just the way I have found surgeons to be. His surgical competenece was surpurb, bedside manner in the hospital very kind and caring. Both are important. Hope this helps someone to find a great surgeon. It is vital to the recovery from this operation.

Every one I came in contact with was a caring individual. From the cleaning staff to the professional staff. There was a time I was incontinent. (Embarrassing for me) Not a look of distain from the staff. They just took it in stride to help me.

The first time I met Dr. Boorse was very nice, he answered all my questions and explained the procedure to a "T". His office staff was very nice as well.

Dr. Boorse presented himself in a very professional manner. He explained the entire procedure to me. He thoroughly explained the risks of this type of surgery, and told me to think about it before scheduling the procedure.

One hospital is about the same as any other. I did not get any rest the first night because the nurses were loud, the lights were bright, and I had a tech checking my catheter every 15 minutes to make sure it was draining. If one is looking for rest in the hopsital then one is looking in the wrong place.
