Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center Hospital
I have had limited dealings with this hospital. They were cooperative at first but then after preop...they basically slammed the door in my face. I am not high risk for this surgery and my labs came back great. My comorbidity is in my back and right hip pain and right leg also...still they slammed the door in my face!!!!so at this point they suck!
This Hospital called me on the night before my surgery and cancelled my surgery. The whole program is now on hold and being reviewed. I am in limbo along with at leat 10 other patients until further notice.
On Jun 22,2002 Hospital called me and offered to reimburse me for 2 days pay. As they say for my inconvenience. This seems like a paltry sum for all that I have had to go through.
The staff was pretty good. I was put in the Pediatric wing because our floor was so swamped. I had lousy roomate. She stayed up all night on the phone (she had a gallbladder removed) Her husband came and picked her up the next day and brought a Huge chili dog covered with cheese and onions and proceeded to eat it on her bed. I thought I would hurl! I will say that the nurses were awesome. I did leave within 24 hours as I thought I'd rest better at home. My family hates chili dogs! ha!
I was put in a semi private room with a senile old person who moaned for 5 hours strait and whos visitor talked at the top of her lungs on a cell phone the whole time all this my first day post op and was finally movd after getting no rest at all about 4 hours later after begging to be moved I was moved to another floor with other wls patients. Also was a 5 hour delay in surgery time.
Cypress Fairbanks Hospital canceled their bariatric program the at 9:30 pm the night before my surgery. They have been cruel and insensitive to the needs of us as patients. I am having to get a new surgeon, new labs, new approvals. They don't care about the fact that I was ready to go and they just canceled us.
This hospital has real potential. They really strive to give their patients the best care possible, but like most hospitals lately, they are overbooked and understaffed. The nurses were really over worked and sometimes could not give the best care and attention they wanted because of their hurried shcedule. Of course, some of the nurses were better than others, but most did as good a job as possible.
