TriStar Centennial Medical Center Hospital
Very professional. He is there to help you lose weight, not to be your friend so he tells it like it is. You may find him aloof at first but quickly learn that his sometimes brusk manner is his way of keeping you focussed and pushing you. Surgery and post-surgery went very well with absolutely no problems and minimal discomfort. I would highly recommend his services.

I can truly say I have no complaints about Dr. Dyer or his staff. From the seminar he presented, to the post op treatment I received, he was first rate. Dr. Dyer answered all of my questions (and my wife's) thoroughly and with the utmost patience. Joanna and Robin were also so kind and caring whenever my wife or I called the office with a concern. There is no way I could list everything Dr. Dyer did for me through out this whole process!
I also want to take this chance to thank the entire nursing staff in the Womens Hospital at Centennial. There is no way to name them all, but each and every one was wonderful! We did not have one nurse that wasn't a friend by the time we left.
Thanks to Eloise Bray and Pam Davis for helping me start the whole process and for holding my hand throughout.
My surgery was February the 11th and I have lost an amazing 125 pounds! Knowing what I know now, I wouldn't change one thing about who I chose for surgery and where.
Thank You Dr. Dyer for the changes you have helped me make in my life!
I really liked Dr. Dyer. His staff has been excellent with all my questions. He explained everything well, and made sure that I was ready for this change in my life. They got the approval from my insurance in about 3 weeks. I hope to have a date within a few days.
I had a Gastric Bypass three and a half months ago. I have lost 85 lbs. since then and I haven’t bottomed out yet. After the back pain and being out of breath from activity due to being overweight, I now feel fantastic.
Although I originally consulted with a different doctor in the office, picked via a friend’s recommendation, we were unable to schedule the surgery conveniently. Dr. Dyer’s schedule had an opening at the right time for me and he came into the office that day to consult with me so I wouldn’t have to return for an appointment on a different day. He took the time to fully explain the procedure in detail and on what I should expect post-surgery.
Dr. Dyer again took the time the morning of surgery to speak with me and explain the sequence of events and helped to calm me down when I questioned if I was about to do the right thing. The actual surgery took longer than expected due to issues from a prior surgical procedure, but the bypass was completed laproscopically and prior issues were corrected. Dr. Dyer spoke with my family and informed them why the surgery took so long. Hospital staff was caring and attentive.
Follow-up visits to the office are met with smiling faces from the staff and Dr. Dyer continues to encourage my progress. My experience through the entire program has been great - from the first informational seminar to my most recent followup visit.
I have had no adverse effects from the surgery at all. I wouldn’t tell anyone there aren’t BRIEF moments where you may question your choice and it has been strange to experience this new relationship I have (or don’t have) with food. But to this point, I have absolutely no regrets and I would recommend Dr. Dyer to anyone seeking to create a more healthful life through weight loss surgery.

Dr. David Dyer has my full confidence and my hearty recommendation. He is strict, quite knowledgeable, and interested in his patients. The office staff is always helpful. He does most of his surgery activity at Centennial Women's Hospital (men, too), and most of the caregivers on the bariatric floor have had the procedure, and are most understanding.
I had gastric bypass surgery in February, and have lost 100 pounds. My followup and aftercare have reinfoced everything I learned leading up to the surgery.
Dr. Dyer fully explained the surgery, the risks, and what to expect. He was very thorough and answered each question.
Dr. David Dyer has given me my life back!

I had my surgery about a month ago. Dr. Olson is great. He is straight forward and tells it like it is. I like that and feel that is what I need. I have done great so far 38 pounds down. I feel good and I am looking forward to the future.

My experience with Dr. Dyer has been great. He and his office staff have been very professional and supportive. I would rate him and his staff as excellent and would recommend them to anyone who is looking to get the tools necessary to lose weight. It was the best decision and I couldn't have asked for a better experience.
Dr. Dyer is a wonderful, compassionate person. The first visit with him was very informative, he never once rushed. He answered every question my husband and I had. He spent over an hour with us! He informed us of the benefits as well as the risks. My surgery was August 11, 2008. Dr. Dyer came in everyday I was in the hospital with a smile and very caring attitude. His office staff is very caring and loving as well. I have dealt with Ms. Joanne the entire time and I just want to say that she is so loving and caring. Ms. Pam, my dietician, you never got tired of hearing from me. I love them all! I would recommend Dr. Dyer to anyone! Love you all, April H
Getting to my weight loss surgeon started off with an abdominal pain (turned out to be gallstones) that wouldn't go away and some shoving by a different doctor to have a WLS or they wouldn't take out my gallbladder.
I found Doctor Olsen after being ignored by the office staff of that other bariatric surgeon when my insurance denied my first request for weight loss surgury. Pam Davis, the program director for Centennial Center for the Treatment of Obesity gave me confidence that it would be the place for me (and at first I was just thinking for my gallbladder, how wrong I was). Doctor Olsen seemed at first a little too direct for me, but since then I've come to understand he really needs to be to get across that weight loss surgury is permanent and to ensure this is what you really want. He not only figured out that the majority of my pain wasn't the gallstones, but laid out a simple treatment and I'm relatively pain free now from that issue. From everything I've seen Dr. Olsen does genuinely care about his patients and has even called my wife (who had a RNY by him as well) personally to check up on her.
The office staff and aftercare program provided by his program I would have to say seem second to none by providing psychologist led support groups (which they want you to go to), an exercise physiologist, and nutritionists at no cost after your surgery. They really know that the surgery is only half the battle, the rest of it is getting the patient to use the tool they've been given to the best of thier ability.
During my consult (which was the second one I'd seen because I was there for my wife's) he not only carefully went over the risks and benefits of the surgery but explained the different types of RNY. He was very upfront in saying that weight would be lost with the surgery no matter what, but how much would depend on how well I followed the diet laid out by him and the dietician. He was also very upfront in saying that at my weight I would very likely be on the stricter diet longer due to all the extra weight I have to get off and that if I wasn't willing to make the lifestyle changes then I really shouldn't have surgery.
Overall what people need to know about Dr. Olsen is that he operates in a great center that will always be there for you in your journey, that you need to give him a chance even if he is too direct for you because it's for your own good, and finally that he's one of the best surgeons in the state and country (the center and all the doctors in it are Circle of Excellence providers)
