Dr Hoehn.....lemme see. My first impression of him was that he was young, but that was quickly diminished by his firm handshake, and his complete comfort in meeting me for the first time, and undivided attention to my concerns and questions. I know that he is a extremely busy man, but you would not feel that in his apparent willingness to answer all of your questions. After the meeting I thought how fulfilling his job must be in using his gifted hands for such good. rnrnAbout a month later, I met him again as he was the one who did my pre op EGD. This time I was impressed with his genuine concern for me as a patient, and his reassuring actions that all was going to be well. Today, 6 days from my surgery, I am calm and confident that my wife and I have trusted the most gifted and highest caliber man for the job.
As everyone else has said he appears to be very young. He was friendly and hopped up on the counter to sit which was cool. The office staff is very nice. The thing that bothers me was that he spent MAYBE 5 minutes with me in the office appointment. The aftercare program is very structured however he did not go over any of this with me. He also did not go over risks/challenges/medications or any sort of recovery information with me. The whole thing seemed a little too quick for me. I would have liked him to spend a little more time with me, however by my own admittance I didn't really have any questions either so I don't know....
I could not be happier with the treatment provided by my surgeon and his whole staff. His program touches all aspects of the weight loss process. He does not just cut, sew you up and let you go. It is a full program with meetings with a dietician, physical therapist, mental health dr. I highly recommend the Bariatric Center to any and all. It has truely been a blessing to me.
My first impression of Dr. Hoehn was that he was so young and I always like a little grey hair on anybody who's cutting me open. He taught the information seminar that I attended and he seemed to be very confident. He had me convinced that he knew what he was doing. He is a very caring surgeon who has his patient's best interest at heart when they are undergoing this surgery. The staff in the Bariatric Center at Shawnee Mission Medical Center was great throughout the process. As soon as I was approved for the surgery, they got the ball rolling and I was having surgery before I knew it. The hospital staff, overall, was very attentive. They were in my room every couple of hours checking on me and always brought me what I needed before I had to ask. Everybody as very nice and seemed to be very caring. I would recommend this hospital to anyone looking to have WLS.
My first impression of Dr Hoehn was he was soft spoken and I liked that he looked directly into my eyes. I love the office staff, they always make me feel very welcomed. All I got to say is this. I don't think I would of done this surgery unless I got to do it with Dr Hoehns office. The program they offer really educates and comforts you, before and after the surgery.
My first visit with Dr. Hoehn was fairly short - he asked me some routine questions and was very willing to answer any questions and concerns I had at that time - he never made me feel rushed through my appointment with him. It wasn't until the second visit that I actually saw a more personable side of him - I shared with him some of the apprehensions and deep fears that I couldn't seem to work through - he gave me his undivided attention and took the extra time (I needed) to talk to me about them....again, he never made me feel rushed. My surgery was July 28th and everything went great. I was very appreciative Dr. Hoehn visited with me before I went into surgery and in my hospital room the morning after surgery. I can't say enough good things about him - he's an AWESOME doctor and I appreciate him so much. It took me a long time to finally decide on the doctor I wanted to do my surgery, but I know for a fact - I definitely made the right decision. I truly believe Dr. Hoehn is one of the very BEST there is!!!
Post-Op Info: I can't say enough about Dr. Hoehn, The KC Bariatric Center, and SMMC! Surgery was very successful and I'm now on my way along with the others on the loser's bench! I would recommend this Center and Surgeon to anyone!! I'll provide more updates further down the road!!rnrnPre-Op Info: After researching WLS for the past couple of years, I finally am almost there! I've met Dr. Hoehn at my first pre-op visit and he is great! During all of my various pre-op appointments and from others that have either had him perform their surgeries, I've heard nothing but great things about him, so looking forward to having him perform my Lap RNY! Will update this area after surgery on 30 Jun 08!
