Dr. Hoehn is my friend. We met the summer of 2002 when I needed a hernia repaired. My husband and I had only lived in Kansas for about 6 weeks. We knew noone. When Dr.Hoehn entered the exam room I felt very comforted. I liked his manner and felt that he truely cared for me as a person. My husband had just started his own residency and we were under so much stress. Dr. Hoehn could certainly relate to us and he told us that he remembered his own residency and all of the hardships that go with it. He comforted us during a time that we certainly needed to be comforted. It was during that visit that I began to establish the trust in him that I would need 6 months later when he performed the gastric bypass on me. Sometimes you have to take a giant leap of faith in order to change your life. You have to have courage and resolve to change your life. Dr. Hoehn helped me take the biggest risk of my life in order to reclaim it. I want all of you to know how much sacrifice goes into training to be a physician and it does not get easier afterwards. I had the priviledge of working for the bariatric program last year and I wittnessed first hand the long long hours Dr. Hoehn and his partners work. I know first hand the loneliness a doctors' spouse experiences day in and day out. Two years have passed since our initial meeting. Today I am a healthy and vital wife and mother. My husband is in his final year of training and we have perservered through it all. I think of Dr. Hoehn everyday.I also say a prayer for him everyday that he continues to give to others what he was able to give to me.
The first thing I noticed when I met Dr. Hoehn was his gorgeous eyes!!! He's got a great sense of humor and you can tell that he truly cares about all his patients. His office takes extra special care of all their patients. They send you to many doctors to make sure that you can withstand surgery. This is awesome! It makes me realize that they really care! I suggest them to anyone that's talking about having surgery!!
After going to several other seminars, I was given Dr. Hoehn's card and set up a seminar appt with him. They sold me on everything that night. The team attitude was comforting and reassured me that my journey would not be made alone, as in the case with some other doctors.
My impression has and ALWAYS will be grand, I walk around with his business cards handing them out to other possible patients, NOT for the sake of the doctor, but for the sake of the patient. I invite everyone to come and experience their seminar, and judge for themselves.
The docotr and his complete team of support doctors and staff are on the same page; very caring and very informative. Even the risks are discussed, but to us, we run the risk of dying just being alive every day.
Aftercare is a major part of their focus, because our surgery is life changing. From now until forever, we are changing and learning. As in the Pre-Op phase, Dr. Hoehns staff is their guiding you, more so in the Post-Op phases.
He is fabulous across the boards. I wouldn't be passing his cards out if I didn't believe in him and his staff.
Dr. Hoehn is great. He has a very quiet but cool demeanor, and the right patient can get him to crack up. I, of course, threatened him and informed him that is why he did such a great job on me. All kidding aside, he has been wonderful. He made me feel comfy all the way. I saw him every day of my stay, and he even teased me that I was a wimp for not going home on the day after my surgery, which in hindsight would have been good for me. I plan to promote his abilities and program for the rest of my life. He has a very structured program with a psychologist and dietition involved also.
Extremely caring, sensitive and encouraging.
I have had the same opinion of him throughout my experiences. He definitely has an aftercare program, however a bit wishy washy for the first 3 months post-op. Have discussed with the manager. he also has support groups monthly and newsletters. I LOVED HIM and would recommend him to anyone!!!
Dr. Hoehn is wonderful surgeon. My first impression was geeky sergeon. He is caring of his patients and their family. His office staff is beyond wonderful. I can't say that I dislike anything at this point. What I have found is once you are released from the hospital you are a little overwhelmed. The aftercare program is overlly structured and is discussed weeks prior to surgery. Risks of surgery are handled in the same manner. I would rate him a 6 or a 7. I am only about a week post-op So we'll have to see!! Surgical Competence is far more important than bed side manner. Both are always good. It's always good to meet with a surgeon before making a decsion as this is only one person's opinion.
My first impression of Dr. Hoehn was that he is very knowledgable. I asked lot's of question at the meeting where I learned all about his type of surgery and practice. I already knew quite a bit about things, but wanted to see if his views were the same as mine, and they were. He is very young, but seems to know his stuff. I also liked the fact that there are 2 people in the operation room doing the surgery at the same time. My impression of the office staff is very kind, caring, and considerate. Aftercare is a must with his program, and that impressed me very much. Before care is also stressed. I have searched extensively, and have found no place else that has such a complete program. I would rate all concerned with Dr. Hoehn an A. I have not had the surgery yet, but feel very comfortable with all of it. I will update after I have the surgery.
When I had my surgery Dr. Hoehn held 2 of my fingers untill I drifted off. I realy like him, and he is very compassionate and caring..... I wouldn't have wanted any other surgeon.
Dr. Hoehn is excellent.
I first saw him at the seminar, and then not for awhile. My PCP recommended him, and that really was good enough for me. Now that the surgery is over, I can say that my PCP sure can pick 'em.
His office staff, especially Nola, are amazing.
I'm not terribly interested in bedside manner, really - although he is good - I want competence, and this guy has that in spades.
I am recommending him to all my fat friends....
My first impression of Dr. Stan Hohen was.. WOW i'm older than he is!... laugh. I was fortunate, my two sisters had Dr. Hohen perform their Lap RNY with great success. He is one of the most thoughtful, considerate people I know. God gave him a talent and Praise God he is using it to save lives. What can I say about the man who saved my life? His before/after care program is probably the best in the country. It's nice to know that Dr. Hohen wants to know how your *total* health is - spiritually, mentally as well as physically. He explained to me what 'risk' I was taking several times. He doesn't seem to be in this for the 'money' but to save lives. He truly takes an interest in his patients. HE has a WONDERFUL bedside manner. Good people like him are hard to find these days. I thank the Lord every day I found my way to Dr. Hohen & his top notch staff. Dr. Hohen says he gets lots of hugs from him patients, and now I know why!!
