My first impression of Dr. Aranow is that he is very young looking. He seemed very confident and well spoken. Before you can have a consult with him you have to attend his power point presentation. The presentation was very informative, he covered just about anything you'd want to know about the surgery. He explained all of the risks involved.
Lois works in his office. She and the rest of the office staff are really easy to get in touch with and are quick to respond to questions or problems.
Dr. Aranow requires that his patients are 100% committed to the surgery. He requires all of his patients to attend a support group at least twice a month. He really emphasises the importance of aftercare.
Dr. Aranow -- I met with him. He has a great support system in place. He has support groups organized at the hospital on Mondays. I call the office and Lois is very supportive. I showed my PCP all of my paperwork from the kit I received from the informational meeting and the pschy. office and she mentioned that he has things very organized. After much research I feel that Dr. Aranow was the #1 choice ofr Connecticut.
My first impression of Dr. Aranow was that he was very straight foward and extremely informative. I have'nt had our one on one meeting yet, but I'm real excited about it. I will update after the meeting. I met with Dr. Aranow and I was real excited afterwards. I came in with over forty questions for him, he answered every one of them and was very thorough and patient with my husband and myself. I have a few more tests to go through before an actual date is set, but we're hoping for April. Please keep me in prayer as I will for all of you.
I found Dr. Aranow to be extremely helpful in making my decision. He gave me all the information I needed to make my decision on my first visit with him. I would recommend him to anyone interested in the surgery. His office staff was extremely helpful in making my appointments and helping me meet my presurgery requirements. My surgery was short and complication free. Most importantly, I found he and his staff to be kind and judgement free.
My primary care physician asked me to meet with Dr. Aranow, instead of the other surgeon i had asked for a referral to.... When i met the doctor, i was very impressed with his "attitude", and our first meeting was great... he was very pleased i had done a lot of research on the surgery.... I decided my PCP was right, and i did like him, and wanted him to do my surgery.... He tells you like it is, he is a NO BS, kind of surgeon.... Wonderful care by, him and his staff.... would choose him again in a minute....
My first impression or Dr. Aranow was that he looked SOOO young. As I sat there talking to him during my consult I was soooo IMPRESSED by this man . He is so sure to make you understand what you will be doing and the risks. His office staff is awesome, especially Lois!!! If anyone has any questions feel free to email me I will be happy to help!!!
I liked him from the first small group meeting.
I liked him even more after my 1 to 1.
Office staff and surgeon are outstanding.
Really busy, hard to get into see him.
Excellent surgeon, treats patients like people!
Weekly pre and post op groups, bi-weekly post-op groups.
Yes, structured aftercare program
Addressed all risks of the surgery clearly.
Excellent.
Surgical comptence and bedside manner were great.
I saw a young man that would probally be aware of the improved ways bariactric surgery could help people..But still he was kinda young??? However When I saw him in his office one on one he had a nice manner and made me feel comfortable. The nurse that did my 1st weigh in at the office was very informative. I was treated in a professional way and everything went smoothly.I was treated curiously and with respect at all times even the girls at the front desk were nice to me and very helpful..The information was given at the seminar and the extra question I had were all answered and re-explain in a non-rushing manor.Dr. Aranow knows his profession and I have no doubt that he is more than capable of proforming the bariactric surgery correctly on me or anyone else .. His hands were actly warm when he exaimed my tummy/waist. Dr. Aranow I believe has the surgical competence and bebside manner both, these make me at ease with the him, however I'm still alittle apprehensive about the surgery it self. Nonetheless, I'm willing to take the risk mentioned to become healtier. My life will be in GODS hands and Dr.Aranows warm hands too..
Dr. Aranow and his staff were great. I am a patient who traveled many many miles to be treated by him and at his practice. Very impressiv -to the point and direct, no beating around the bushes.
Nothing changed, I still have a great deal of respect for him and his team.
Very pleasant, especially April. She was awesome and we worked for many months planning my surgery.
Honesty, to the point and very direct.
Don't go if you are not ready to hear the truth and be put on the spot.
Extremely important is your aftercare, I will make several visits back to CT just to see him and follow-up with him and his staff.
Yes, there is a structured aftercare program. I think one of the most important parts of their program is the pre-care you receive as well. Very thorough and counseliing and group support is a huge part of this.
We talked very regularly about the risks and even the morning of the surgery he went over them with me again and gave me the option to back out or change my mind.
10 plus, I am very pleased with the Doc and his staff. They were very good and I would highly recommend them to anyone.
I think both are great - I want an honest open and truthful person to treat me. Dr. Aranow was this to me. He just told me how it was and what my options were. Together we made it happen and I am very hapy with all that transpired.
The only thing I can say that could lend itself to being negative is that he is extremely busy and sometimes that works against him. Otherwise he was very good and a supportive physician. It may come across as suspect because I am speaking so positive, however this was my real experience.
Like everyone else, my first impression of Dr. Aranow was, "He is so young!". My second thought was, "My God, he is incredibly smart". His credentials are incredible and he is extremly knowledgeble. His office staff is lovely. Everyone makes you feel as if you are the Doctor's only patient and are therefore very important to them. I interviewed with another Doctor in New Haven last year and while his wife (office staff) was very nice; I didn't like the Doctor much at all. He didn't seem interested. He handed me a folder full of appointments to make...without telling me why! After that fiasco, it took me a year to try again. In the meantime, my Principal had the surgery and was praising his surgeon. So, my husband made the call for me and I am so glad he did. When we met with Dr. Aranow, he listened to me and answered all of my questions very patiently. He explained any pre-op testing that had to be done - including WHY it had to be done. He also has group meetings on a regular basis so you can easily ask more questions. So far I would rate him a 12 out of 10!
