When I met with Dr. Oldham my first impression was a great one. He was really concerned with my well being and I could tell that he wanted me to make sure that this was what I wanted to do. My husband really liked his attitude also. So far I've had a plesant experience with his office staff. Dr. Oldham addressed all of the risks of the surgery and made it clear that I had a decision. I was in ICU for one day and then in the bariatric unit for a day. I was really please with the care I received from Dr. Oldham and GCH. He came in and checked on me each morning, told me how the surgery went, etc. I am really impressed with the care I have received thusfar.
My first impression of Dr. Oldham was that he really cared about his patients. I felt comfortable enough around him to ask the questions that were difficult for me. He helped me make an informed decision about my surgery.rnrnHe was very up front and descriptive about the possible risks and the aftercare. He made sure that I understood that this is a lifetime committment.rnrnAt Georgetown, they really emphasize the aftercare of the surgery. Since they're so good about aftercare, they have come to discover how to minimize certain risks. They truly want you to be successful.rnrnThe only negative comment I would make is
Dr. John Oldham is a very confident surgeon with a heart of GOLD. From the start of my journey and first meeting with him and his office staff everyone and everything has been great. They have a great program that starts you off with great support and it continues. I had my surgery on Oct. 4, 2006 and also had to have a hiatal hernia fixed and had some real pain from that also. I had to go through a leak test and had some fluid on my left lung and Dr. Oldham talked about keeping me one more day but came in later that day and we talked about maybe me going home only if I took his cell number and called him first thing in the morning. Now I have never ever know any DR to give you there cell number...that meant more to me and my husband than ever. I have felt comfortable from day one with Dr. Oldham and his group. I will always always referre people to Dr. J. Oldham and Bluegrass Bariatrics.
I've been to Two seminars. One was for Dr. David Geller. He was really nice and I do not have a problem with Dr. Geller. I have however decided that I do not want to go to Suburban hospital for my surgery. rnrnI also went to a seminar for the Georgetown Bariatric doctors and really loved the presentation. Dr. Oldham was there and I've decided to go with them. Even though it's about 93 miles from home. They are a center of excellence and have a get website to help educate their patients.
The surgeon was very thorough in my pre-op visit and explained the procedure very well. The staff does a good job of preparing the patient for the procedures. I did see the surgeon briefly on the day of my initial surgery but did not get to speak with him when I went in for my port replacement. I have not seen him since either of my surgeries as his office follow-up and subsequent visits are handled by his nurse-practitioners. I suppose that I am satisfied with the surgeon but would not reccomend this procedure (lap-band).
