When i first meet Dr. Oldham it was like meeting an old friend. He took time to talk and explain everything to my husband and I.The morning of my surgey he was right there close by as they got me preped for surgey. After the surgey was over he went back to the clinic to see other paients. When i got to feeling better I ask if they would call him up and ask if he would come over that i needed to talk to him. It wasn't long at all that he was right there. This is one of the nicest \"Handsome\" Doctor i've know. All the staff is wonderful as well. It's like we are all one \"huge\" family. There is nothing bad I can say. My life has been saved by having the lapband, I was on a downward sprial and was told that without this I would maybe have a year left. Thank God for Dr.Oldham and ALL the staff at Georgetown Ky.
My surgeon was John Oldham in Georgetown, KY. My first impression of him was WOW, he's really nice. He didn't seem judgemental in any way and was open and honest about anything that I asked him. The office staff was very helpful and understanding, always willing to answer any questions in a very timely fasion which I greatly appreciated. The aftercare that I have received is great, the only "complaint" that I may have is that I've not seen the surgeon for my aftercare, only the nurse-practitioner. Not to say that she has been substandard, it would just be comforting to see the surgeon occasionally. However, I have never had a question that has been left unanswered. Everything that they told me to expect was right on target. Dr. Oldham and staff addressed thoroughly all the risks factors involved with having gastric surgery as well as all the preventative measures to help avoid those risks several times prior to surgery. The doctor was very competent with a great bedside manner. I would rate Dr. Oldham and his staff as a 10 on a 1-10 scale. (Comments are only my opinion.)
The entire staff is wonderfull. Their aftercare program is top notch. They are very caring and thorough before and after surgery. All risks were thoroughly explained. I had lapband surgery.
Dr. Oldham is a very caring, sensitive and skilled surgeon. I had a number of co-morbidities and this was a concern for me as well as for Dr. Oldham. I live very near a large city and had always preferred to seek medical attention in the larger city. My thinking was that the surgeons at the larger hospitals would be more able to handled any problems that might arise. After meeting the with staff and the doctors at Georgetown Hospital, I changed my mind. My surgery went fine and the hospital was very well equipped to handle my health issues. I had my surgery 10 months and I wouldn't change a thing if I had to do it over. I have lost about 100 pounds so far and have another 70 or so to go. If I never lost another pound, I am still so much better off that I was before surgery.
The Bariatric Center has a number of support groups. The staff is available at all times. Their internet message board is very active. I do no live near enough to get to Georgetown for support meetings but thre are several of the Center's patients that now gather twice a month in Louisville.
Thanks to the Center and all the staff for their wonderful program.
Dr. Oldham, the staff at the Bariatric Center at Georgetown Community Hospital along with the staff at the hospital are WONDERFUL! They are very curteous, helpful and understanding. They believe in the importance of information and education and prove it on a daily basis with their support groups and seminars. I am RNY -8 months post op. Dr. John Oldham Jr was my surgeon. I had a very rough first 8 weeks after surgery. Dr. Oldham and the staff at the Bariatric Center were there every step of the way. They cared about me and understood what I was going through. Dr. Oldham and the staff at Georgetown Community Hospital took great care of me! They are still there to address any questions or concerns I have. They have become my extended family!
My first impression of Dr Oldham was that he was very knowledgeable and answered any questions that my husband and I came up with. The office staff at Georgetown are the very best, their warm and caring. Anyone considering Gastric Bypass should contact them, they saved my life twice. The first time by performing my RNY then again when I developed a leak and had to go back in for emergency surgery and was on a ventilator for 3 days, they took such wonderful care of me and Dr O gave my husband his cell phone number so he could be reached at any time, how many drs would do that? Dr Oldham even called me at home a couple times to ask how I was doing. One of the risks I was worried about was leaks and Dr Oldham informed and educated me about that, and unfortunately it was the complication I had a few days after surgery. I would give Dr Oldham a great big 10.
The surgical competence in my case was what saved my life and in the weeks following that I spent in the hospital recovering was one of the most calming times in my life, I was in good capable hands and I knew it. Thanks Dr Oldham you were and are a wonderful surgeon and person
