Dr. Oldham was very specific about the operation and made me aware of everything he was going to do and what I would even be expecting when I woke up from anethesia. He has a wonderful office staff working for him. They are always very friendly and caring. I would recommend Dr. Oldham to anyone who is considering wls. I would have to give Dr. O a "10" on the whole process!!! Georgetown Community weight loss docs are the best!
My first impression was a good impression. He was very polite, helpful and informative.
After the surgery, I found that he was absolutely a very competent surgeon. Other than that, I have not seen him since I had surgery. I have always seen the nurse practioners.
The office staff is excellent and very helpful.
I guess the thing I liked the least is that I haven't seen him since the surgery.
Future patients should know they are in good hands with Dr. Oldham.
I don't recall emphasis being put on aftercare.
Dr. Oldham talks to you one on one about your surgery explaining all risks. We were also shown a video.
I rate Dr. Oldham a 10 on a scale of 10.
Surgical competence is the most important but it is also important that the surgeon treats you with respect because obese people are normally very emotionally fragile.
I would highly reccommend Dr Oldham! The office staff at Georgetown are great. Most of them have had WLS themselves. Dr. Oldham came in to check on me twice a day during my hospital stay. He explains everything before surgery and takes his time answering your questions. He also meets with family to answer any questions they have. Dr. Oldham greatly emphasizes aftercare and the risks of sugery. You receive a WLS manual, which is very helpful. He does have a structured aftecare program. I rate him A #1 in both surgical competence and the best bed-side manners. He honestly goes above and beyond for his patients. Dr. Oldham and Dr. Weiss both are in the OR during all surgeries. They are an awesome duo. Dr. Oldham is totally AMAZING! I would marry him anyday! He makes my heart go pitty-pat!
I can't say enough good about my surgeon. He has been very supportive and patient and informative to me and my family. His home town is where I live and he even came to check on me while in town visiting after my incision had gotten infected and had to be reopened...how many doctors would do that? He is awesome and I would highly recommend him to anyone!!!
He explained everything totally in detail to me, I thought he was a great physician and would recommend him and the Bariatric program of georgetown to anyone.
only problem I had was they were discharging me and forgot to give me dinner, so I had protein drinks and grape juice. I didn't really want more but I though that was kinda silly. I'm quite sure it was a mistake, but still.
I had gastric Bypass on 7/13/05 by Dr. John Oldham. I enjoyed my experience from the beginning. The office staff is very supportive and caring. They take the time to care, and that means alot to a scared and nervous person about to have surgery. They guide you step by step through their program. This surgeons and his staff make sure you are aware of the changes you life will take. Any questions you have before and after surgery, they don't mind helping you with them. I would recommend Dr. Oldham and his staff to any person choosing this life changing surgery. Thank you very much Dr. Oldham. Trish Darnell
Dr Oldham was exceptionally personable, very easy to talk with, and appeared to have any amount of time I needed from him during visits. I never felt rushed or awkward. The staff at Bluegrass Bariatrics have, and continue to, make me feel like a welcomed and important client. Having been an RN for over 20 years, and having been with numerous family members and friends through hospitalizations, I can say that Georgetown hospital was like none I have ever dealt with.
Preop visits were completed efficiently and without very much waiting at all. Each dept I left asked if I knew where the next appt was, and when I didn't, that staff member escorted me to the next office. Such individual attention and an obvious desire to meet my needs.
The program includes a significant amount of education prior to surgery, and support group attendance is strongly encouraged post op. I felt very comfortable before, during, and after surgery, that I was prepared for expectations and potential complications.
I could not be more pleased with my decision to select Dr Oldham, his office nurses and staff, and the Georgetown Hospital for my surgery.
MY first impression of Dr. Oldham was very positive. He has a great bedside manner and seemed deeply concerned for you the patient. He made it a point to see you several times a day after surgery and if you needed anything he was available within a phone call.I would highly recommend Dr. Oldham to anyone seeking WLS.On a scale of 1-10 I would rate him a 10.He is a great surgeon and well as a wonderful person, ther was nothing I didn't like about him.
