I just had surgery on Nov 30th, it has been an awesome experience thanks to the excellence of Dr Oldham and his staff, they educate you to the max so by the time you have the surgery you are very comfortable for what you are about to undergo. Also they give you so much education that once I had the surgery I was very familiar with what to expect and when a situation would arise I remembered them telling us about it and knew it was normal to experience it, example pain in the shoulder from the gas moving without the education one may think something was wrong, but knowing it in advance knew what it was when it came and was able to handle it. Would highly recommend Bluegrass Bariatrics without a doubt. He also called to check in with me after I was at home seemed very kind and compassionate. I would do it all again :)
I could go on for hours about how much I like Dr. Oldham!!! We was very considerate and answered all my silly questions. He never once made me feel bad for asking so many questions. He even called me at home once I was discharged, just to check on me. I am very glad I went with BGB and would do it all over again!!!
Dr. Oldham is a wonderful surgeon as well as a caring person.I would recommend him to anyone wanting to have the weight loss surgery. The first time I met with him, it was like meeting with an old friend. After the surgery, I had some questions etc. they were immediately addressed by him. He even called me three weeks later to see how I was doing. This caring manner is not always seen in the professional world.

When choosing a surgeon, I believe that skill and competence, as well as a good bedside manner are very important. My first impression of Dr. Oldham was that he is a very kind, down-to-earth person who seems to be very knowledgeable and skilled at what he does. I first saw him at the free weight loss surgery seminars offered at Baptist Hospital East in Louisville. I met him one-on one at my second intake appointment with his office. We spoke about why I wanted VSG and my future with it. He told me what I should expect from the surgery and why he feels the VSG will soon be the new "gold standard" of WLS. I opted to have an EGD done so we could see if there were any pre-existing issues with my stomach. He performed the procedure and came to see me before he started. The morning of my VSG, he came in to talk to me before taking me to the OR, and then visited with me 4 times in the hospital after surgery. He even called me at home the day after I was discharged to see how I was doing. Overall, I think he is a great surgeon with a caring, but no-nonsense bedside manner. His office staff is very nice and I look forward to working with them. I will have periodic meetings with the dietitian and physician's assistant in his office. I would recommend Dr. Oldham to anyone who is looking into having WLS.

Dr. Oldham is the best. Not only is he a great surgeon, but he has a wonderful personality. I never felt talked down too or discounted in any way. He is very kind and compassionate to his patients. He personally checked on me twice each day while in the hospital and he even called me at home after I was released to check on me. rnrnHis office staff and Bluegrass Bariatrics Louisville Office are a reflection of Dr. Oldham. They are a kind, energetic and fun group of people. They are dedicated to the weight loss program and the people participating in the program.rnrnThe Bluegrass Bariatric after care program is very comprehensive and easy to follow. My questions about the program have never gone unaswered. They work very closly with the Bariatric Program at Baptist East Hospital. I certainly feel like I have all the support to have a successful weight loss journey.rnrnI couldn't have been more impressed with Dr. Oldham and his staff at Bluegrass Bariatrics (Louisville Office). I honestly have no negative comments regarding my experience.
The first time I met Dr. Oldham, I was very impressed with his knowledge and experience. He spent nearly an hour with me, answering all my questions, explaining things to me and listening to my concerns. On the day of surgery, he helped calm me down. While in the hospital, he visited me several times each day (I was in hospital for 4 days). I really cannot say enough about him. So far he has been wonderful.rnrn08-14-09 update: I am very happy I selected Dr. Oldham as my surgeon. I recently had a minor setback and he was wonderful in helping me. I really cannot say enough about him. He has been a blessing to me.
What was your first impression of him/her? He was very open and informative.rnHow did your impression change over time? Not at allrnHow would you describe his/her office staff? rnThey were all friendly and nice, however the office is new in Elizabethtown, KY and in transition, I didn't feel like I was getting the attention I should have. I came to them ready to go in January 2009, only lacking insurance approval which once sent only took 30 days. But I didn’t have my surgery until June 29th 2009. It was my impression that they were overwhelmed and under staffed.rnrnOn a scale of 1-10 rnI'd rate Dr Oldham: 10rnThe office staff: 9rnAnd my over all experience: 9
My first impression of Dr. Oldham was pretty good. I asked specific questions and he provided specific answers or said he didn't know when appropriate. I respect that. He has been very straight forward with me with the complications, risks and benefits. I like his straight forward manner the most..that and his success record. Competency is #1. Dr. Oldham is also approachable and takes education on the surgery very seriously.rnWhat I liked least.... I wish he would have taken a few minutes to get to know me - not just Q&A. It would have made me a little more comfortable, but it is not at all necessary for him to do a great job. He was by no means unfriendly or unapproachable - just busy:)rnrnHis office staff are AMAZINGLY helpful and kind. Several times I would read something that scared me and I would call the office to ask to talk to some of his staff. Most of them have been his patients at one time or another and have a wealth of information. They spoke from their heart, both the good and bad. They told me their stories and answered my questions. rnrnCentral Baptist Hospital did and excellent job profiling and educating me on the surgery. They set up support groups with a psychologist or different experts to guide us through our lifestyle changes and to provide additional weightloss tools. The staff are wonderful! Especially Sabrina!rnrnMy surgery was at Central Baptist Hospital. Dr. Oldham was there in the morning to meet my husband and mom. He updated them as soon as my procedure was complete (Thanks)!! He came by several times in the following days to check on my status and answer questions. I was out of it, but my husband was on duty:) Apparently, I had scar tissue around my ovaries and uterus that I had no knowledge of..he took and additional 15-20 minutes to clean out the scar tissue for which I am very grateful. I will also take this time to say that Baptist ICU nurses were amazing! Their normal nurses, eh not so much, but possibly because they had fewer nurse per patient ratio. I do feel as though I was treated very well and everything possible was done to ensure that there were no additional complications.
