My first impression of Dr. Oldham was a positive one. He seemed to really care about improving the lives of the people that he worked with. He took the time to entertain any questions, no matter how silly they sounded (and trust me, some of them were sounded quite silly in hind-sight). It's been about two months since I first met Dr. Oldham, and I still know that I made the right choice in choosing him as my surgeon. rnrnThe office staff at Bluegrass Bariatric is wonderful. You couldn't ask for a better group of caring and thoughtful individuals. Every time that I have been in the office, it has been a busy environment, but the staff really makes an effort to make sure that you are taken care of. I was surprised find out that they remembered who I was when I called, just by giving my name, considering the amount of people that they see on a daily basis. rnrnThe staff at both Bluegrass Bariatric and Georgetown Community Hospital are big on the prevention of many complications common to this procedure. I have been around hospitals a lot, with my sister in her fight against cancer and other illnesses, and this is the first time that I actually got to know the nurses, even though I was only there a few short days. rnrnThere is a highly structured aftercare program, in which everything is spelled out. I have never once felt as though I was alone, nor has a question gone unanswered. The staff is always there if something happens and willing to help, and even follow-up in the few days after. rnrnEveryone that I have come in contact as a result of the surgery would receive a twenty on a ten scale! rn
Very impressed. He put me at ease immediately. I could not ask for a better surgeon. He and the office staff care about their patients and are very helpful with any problems that may arise. there is nothing that I don't like about him and his staff. If you are looking for a surgeon, I would highly recommend him. I have had checkups at the 1 week, 1 month, 3, 6, and am scheduled for the 9 month period. These will continue every 3 months for approximately 2 years with an annual checkup thereafter.rnrnHe was very clear about the risks of surgery and was very sure that he could do the surgery before he would commit to it.rnrnI would give him a rating of 10 out of 10. This is my personal experience and I could not say that everyone would have the same experience.rnrnBoth are great.rnrn
Dr. Oldham is a skilled surgeon and did a wonderful job on my surgery. I've only met with him twice so far, but he has been informative and very nice both times. He is more than willing to answer questions, I just don't usually have many to ask. The staff at Dr. Oldham's office (Georgtown Bariatric Center) are wonderful! They are nice, interested, concerned, helpful and competent. The insurance was handled quickly and efficently, the pre-op appointments were well scheduled and informative, and the nurses have been great post-op! I love the staff at Georgetown Bariatric Center. :-)I was given a Lap Band Weightloss manual at my last pre-op appointment that was put together by the staff at Georgetown Community Hospital. It has been very useful! I refer to it almost daily to make sure things are progressing the way they should and that I am following all of the rules. rnI have my first official post-op appointment this week and I can't wait. When I checked out after surgery the nurse on the Bariatric floor gave me my prescheduled 1st appointment. This was very helpful. She let me know what I needed to do between leaving the hospital and my first appointment. I also have to brag a bit on the staff at Georgetown Community Hospital. Everyone was very competent, informative, helpful and friendly. If I have another surgery I hope I am able to go back to Georgetown. The temerature controlled hospital gowns are a definite plus!rnrnOverall I would rate Dr. Oldham, The staff at the Georgetown Bariatric Center and at Georgtown Community Hospital at a 10!
My surgeon that I am currently attempting to gain approval for the surgery is Dr Weiss, through the Georgetown Bariatric Center. I met him for the first time at one of the seminars and I actually spoke to him personally following the seminar. I immediately felt a warmth and caring with him that made me feel even more sure that I was doing the right thing. The office staff was awesome as well when I went for my first visit I was so totally impressed! They have a website where you can vent, share feelings, help others in their struggles as well as feel at home with friends! It's my choice and they are great! I have no negative thoughts about them at all! rnrnAs an add on: I met Dr John Oldham as he was designated as my primary surgeon and my surgeon was awesome I cannot begin to say enough good things about him, his bedside manner was very nice he was genuinely concerned about my welfare and well being very understanding and caring, he was also able to repair a hiatal hernia while doing the gastric bypass surgery. This had been giving me trouble for awhile as well and he repaired that while he was in there as well! I say it again I cannot say enough good things about this center and these surgeons! rnrnThere is great aftercare and also all risks regarding the surgery during and post op as well were gone over with me they sent me to a physical therapist and got me ready and educated on the exercise options after surgery and some before! I thank them so much for giving me my life back!
Dr. Oldham ... wow, first impressions were \"my god, he's got blue eyes!\" And he really is just the most charismatic thing ever. But not only that, he was knowledgeable, concerned, and really listened and gave advice. He made sure we were doing it safely, made sure I had the right support system, and actually took the time to talk to me and the boyfriend about everything. He was an absolute angel.rnrnI don't think I could have been any more informed in making a decision for this surgery. On a scale of 1-10 I give his whole office a 100.
Dr. Oldham is very professional and took a sincere interest in my health. He took the time to sit with me and go over everything about the surgery and the changes that I would encounter for the rest of my life. He was very compassionate about what he does, and he wanted to make sure that I completely understood how lap band surgery would change my life. He concentrated on post-op care and how the lap band is a \"tool\" and emphasized how I really had to do my \"part\" to ensure that this surgery would be a positive impact on my health and on my body. His office support, Jen and Petra, are amazing, and I feel like they're part of my family. I know I can call them anytime and get answers to my neverending questions, as well as the overall support that I need. If I had a rating scale, I would rate Dr. Oldham an A+++++++!
I liked him from the first time I met him. rnrnNo, my impression was that he was a great person.rnrnHis office staff are very personable, professional, and feel like family.rnrnI can't say that i disliked anything about him.rnrnThat he knows what he is doing and that his bedside manner was excellent.rnrnAftercare was very important to him and his staff. They gave ownership of my recovery to me. Yet I felt if I needed to call someone I could.rnrnYes they explain all situation that may arise during aftercare and gave me telephone numbers to call just in case I had a problem.rnrnThe video they showed explain almost every question I had about the risk, and Dr. Oldham and Weiss, and staff were very forthcoming with their success rate.rnrnI would rate him and his staff a 10 overall.rnrnIt was all great.rnrnThe hardest part of the surgery was the gas pain after the surgery.rnrn
