My first impression of Dr. Huse was that he was a quiet man.
My impression changed meaning that he seemed to be a very competent man and when asked my many questions, he stepped up to the plate.
His office staff was very friendly and went out of their way to answer any of my questions.
There wasn't anything that I did not like about Dr. Huse.
Aftercare is a big concern for both Dr. Huse and the Bariatric Center. They both want to make sure you do what you are supposed to be doing after your surgery. And yes, the aftercare problem is very structured, letting you know what you shouldn't and should do.
The risks of the surgery were explained at my group consultation visit and then again when I met with him one-on-one.
On a scale from 1 to 10, I would rate Dr. Huse and my experience with him as a 10.
As far as what I think is more important, surgical competence or bedside manner, I think Dr. Huse was great at both of them.
Dr. Huse did the procedure but follow up care at the hospital was done by Dr. Evanson. I like them both very much and would recommend either of them at this point. I have'nt had my follow-up appointment yet (02/14/2005) so I have nothing further to add at this point. Dr. Huse was very thorough about risks, aftercare, etc. at the consultation and my friend had him as her surgeon one year ago. That is why I chose him. Not disappointed thus far. I do wish that I had him for aftercare at the hospital as I had never met Dr. Evanson before.
He is a wonderful physician, very professional.
Has not changed.
His staff is also very nice and professional.
He's so busy, he's sometimes hard to get in contact with.
They are very committed to a follow-up plan.
They do have a structured follow-up plan.
Dr. Huse and staff explained the risks and complications of surgery.
I would highly recommend him to anybody.
Surgical competence.
Dr. Huse is very soft spoken, but I totally trust in him completely. The first consult was a group setting that he gave a very thorough (sp?) overview of the surgery in a classroom, and then everyone who wanted to stay could meet with him one on one. He sat very patiently and let my mom, my husband and I ask every stupid question we could think of. He was very honest and up front. My admiration of him only has grown over time. His bedside manner at the hospital was wonderful, although he was leaving on vacation right after my surgery and left his colleage to check in on me at the hospital. He has a very calming effect on you as you're laying there waiting to go back. I had leg pains 3 weeks out, and he was very safe by sending me for a doplar to be "better safe than sorry", instead of brushing me off. I would reccomend Dr. Huse to anyone who is thinking about having this surgery, I would trust him with anything.
He was direct and to the point. Didn't know if he would have very good bedside manner.
I only saw him once--9 months prior to surgery.
He was hightly recommended by both PCP and Diabetes Endocrinologist as well as by my OB.
His staff was very helpful, too.
He didn't have much to say even at my first post-op appointment. Just not very friendly, but not mean. He is a really great surgeon and highly recommended. Really great aftercare through Carmel St. Vincent Hospital Bariatric Center. Very structured aftercare program through the first year. I read in paperwork the risks and discused them with a psych. I would recommend if you don't feel you need cheers from your doctor.
Definately, surgical competence outways bedside manner
I really liked Dr Huse he was very helpful in answering all my questions. His staff is extremely helpful if you have a problem with anything they will help you.One thing you should know he is all business some people don't care for that but I do.When you are sent home you have a packet of information at your disposal. Most of which he has already gone over with you. On the day of surgery he asked me again if I know the risk and if I was sure I wanted to do this. I told him try and stop me. He just laughed. I would rate Dr. Huse as a great Dr. and I would recommed him to anyone who was interested in baratric surgery.
Very quiet but was in total control. He was fantastic. My regular weight doctor helped me get on his list. He helped pioneer the surgery that is most widely used. He is COMPLETELY honest and nothing is hidden. You are in the best of care with he and his staff at St. Vincents' hospital. He is very careful about post op care of his patients. That is one reason why he has great success. Please a special note, Do not overeat your new stomach. Besides being VERY dangerous, you can stretch it and you will be eating too much too soon. St. V's has a great support and post op program. I am very pleased with my success. I am now writing this after 2+ years after my surgery.
