I have met my surgeon, haven't actually HAD surgery yet.
My overall first impression is that he is a very polite and professional person. He seems to know what he is talking about and he was so informative about the procedure that I really had no questions, so My personal consultation with him was very brief.
I originally chose Dr. Jones as my surgeon, but decided that I needed someone with a little more experience with open RNY becaue of my past surgeries. Once I called the office of Dr. Huse I knew that I would change my mind. Melissa was such a great encouragement about the insurance approval and soooo sweet. I am glad that I changed my mind. My first impression of Dr. Huse is that he reminded me of a smaller version of Santa Claus. He was just so jovial looking. Red cheeks and a smile ear to ear. He was very informative at the group consultation and answered all my questions with patience. I opted to go with the one-on-one consult afterwards and he asked me all about my personal health conditions. He also answered my personal questions about the surgery and my risks. He is kind of quiet but very knowledgable. I feel very confident in his skills. He has only had 2 patients die in over 20 years, and both were a result of DVT. Whatever he wrote down in his surgery recommendation letter worked really well, because my insurance approved it without the 18 mo. required diet. I also LOVE his staff they were very sweet and patient with me even though I have been a bit of a pain with my insurance problems and rescheduling the surgery. Thanks Fran and Melissa! I am looking forward to meeting the doctor again.
My first impression of Dr. Huse is that he may have been just a little bit to quick when seeing his patients. I thought how could he possibly give his patients the attention they needed after conduction a class that was filled with about 10 people. He did see calm and knowledgable. I chose him because of his years experience at doing WLS. I can not comment just yet about his overall care because I have just meet him during the intial consultation. I will definitely update you all after another meeting with him.
My first impression of Dr Huse was that he was calm and calculating. He didn't seem to have a lot of bed side manners, but his competence as a Bariatric Surgeon was the focal point for me, (since this was to be my first time ever "under the knife"),and in this area he seemed impeccable.
After my surgery and after a few post-surgery office visits, my impression of Dr Huse changed. He is actually a lot warmer person than I had suspected, and actually has a somewhat off-beat sense-of-humor (A lot like myself...lol).
I not only recommend Dr Huse to people who ask, but I "highly" recommend him. Not only him, but his staff as well. Big "Kudos" to Fran, Melissa, Debbie, Nancy, Kathy, and Karen.
He was a very bright man who has a heart of gold...very humble and helpful. It only got better as he spent time with me and cared a lot. The office staff is so careing and understanding. They address the problems at hand as quickly as possible. I did not, not like him. I loved him. He is professional on a person level. Very personable and thoughtful. Aftercare is an important part of the healing process and he emphasizes it well. Yes he has a very good structural aftercare program. He was very honest about he surgery and did not hold anything back to sugar coat amything. He was bluntly honest and openly informational. This risks were explained in great detail so as not to be misled.I would rate him out of 10 as a 10. surgical competence is number one..then the bedside manner is a nice bonus. I have no negative things to say. I truly had a great experience. The only bad thing was not being able to eat what I wanted and to have to change into a whole new lifestyle. But I was prewarned and prepared properly.
my first impression of dr. huse was that he was a patient man, and incredibly knowledgeable. he answered many questions from the group he was addressing, then met with us individually. he didn't strike me as "warm and fuzzy", but extremely experienced and confident in his abilities. i had surgery 4 weeks ago and have had a few reasons to contact his office staff as i've been post-op, and they were all very kind and helpful. the program at st vincent's bariatric center, working in conjunction with dr. huse, has a very structured aftercare program. my rating for dr. huse would have to be "top notch" and i'd recommend him to anyone.
Very nice and professional....knew what he was talking about.I like him more and more because he really knows this field and is an excellent surgeon. He is very matter-of-fact
and does not mess around. His office staff is wonderful especially Fran. I believe he has done this kind of surgery since the 1980's so he is knowledgable and skilled in his field. There is a very structured plan along w/ St. Vincent's Carmel which is an excellent hospital(at least the bariatric unit). Iwould rate him a 10 and say I believe his skills are higher than his bedside manner but he still is a nice man and I prefer someone who knows his field over bedside manner!
My first impression of Dr. John Huse was excellent. His demeanor was superb. I really liked the way he explained things. The office staff was very kind and professional towards me. Dr. Huse greatly emphasized aftercare and addressed the risks of surgery. Overall, I rate him highly. I think both surgical competence and beside manner are great to have.
