my first impression of dr. huse was of a grandfather. i thought he would be younger. kinda leary at firt about his age. then he started to speak. he put all those worries to rest. his office staff were very kind and respectful. very weight friendly. dr. huse is a very informative dr. he lets you know all the risks involved and al the options. he has a very good aftercare program and the clinic that he affiliated (st. vincent bariactric center) has a good reputation for excellence. the aftercare involves a commitment o a year of support groups, dietary counseling, and an excercise program targeted to improving on your weight loss. i have complete confidence in dr. huse and his staff to guide me through this process safely. im looking forward to this with dr huse and can't wait fro it to begin. as for surgical comptetence and beside manner i think both are equally important. hopefully i am not misgiued on my faith in dr huse. although i do have fears i try not to dwell on them to much. its all for the greater good, right?

Dr.Huse is a very quiet man. I feel extremely confident in his abilitys.
His office staff is extremely helpful in getting things processed. They are very informative and stress that this surgery is just a tool. Aftercare programs are highly recommended. I found him and his staff to be very informative, they left nothing out. I have been left with no questions.

I have only had my initial consultation with Dr. Huse, but he appeared to be very professional and very experienced at this type of surgery. His briefing was very thorough, and he made sure I understood all the risks that the surgery would entail. He has performed more than 1000 of these operations.

March 5, 2001
Tomorrow afternoon I have my first consultation with Dr. Huse at St. Vincent Bariatric Weight Loss Services. I have been waiting two months for this appointment. I find myself praying that not only am I a suitable candidate, but that I am in need of the surgery immediately and that everything gets expedited.

March 6, 2001:
Dr. Huse had a medical emergency and had to cancel my appointment. I was initially recheduled for April 6, 2001, but I got it moved to March 9, 2001.

March 9, 2001:
I arrived at the St. Vincents Bariatric Center and turned in all my preliminary paperwork. For the first time in several years, I was weighed (422.6 lb), measured (69"), and my blood pressure was taken. When Dr. Huse arrived, about a dozen of us were ushered into something resembling a classroom (but with chairs that fit!) and Dr. Huse spent about an hour explaining the two types of surgery he does. He was very open about complications, side effects, etc. He answered everyone's questions honestly and openly. I really appreciated the fact that this was not a sales pitch. It was very informative. When he had answered everyone's questions, we were all ushered back to the waiting room and he met with each of us individually. He reviewed my medical history and asked me which surgery I had a preference for. We agreed that RNY offered me my best hope for long term success. Dr. Huse has a quiet, low-key demeanor. I am pleased he will be my surgeon.
Dr. Huse is a very soft spoken, kind man. When you get to know him he loosens up and smiles alot. He is a very compassionate man and an excellent surgeon.
His office staff is WONDERFUL.
Dr. Huse emphasizes pre and post op care. He referrs us to the Bariatric Center at St Vincent Carmel. The staff works closely with the Surgeon and patient to insure success and aleviate fears and concerns. The pre and post op after care is very structured. This includes a dietician and nursing staff that watches over very closely.
Dr. Huse informed me that since this is a revision and due to the fact of the healing issue he did have some concerns of the risk of the surgery. We discussed those concerns and decided that a revision was the best way to go.
I would rate Dr. Huse a 10+!
I think that surgical competency and bedside manner are very important. After all Surgeons are just people like you and me. All individuals should be treated with respect and compassion.
