Dr. Hust was very knowlegeable and explained all procedures, pros and cons in great detail
I felt very comfortable w/him & listened & responded to me as an equal.

Before consultation they answered every question I could throw at them and helped me!! Thanks ladies!

In the preconference he explained all in detail

My first impression of Dr. Huse was I felt he was
extremely quiet and not very talkative. Does
seem to have a sense of humor but is very serious.
However he does a very good job at explaining the
surgeries he performs and gave an impression that he
wanted us to understand the surgery and be comfortable
with our decision. I feel very confident in him at
this time. The St. Vincent Bariatric Group has
a complete bariatric program set up including both
pre and post operative meetings, etc. I am glad I
chose St. Vincent and Dr. Huse.

I am now post-op and my impression of Dr. Huse is
even better now than before. I really like him
and feel that I couldn't have made a better choice.

My first impression of Dr. Huse was what does this skinny fellow know about being fat? However, as he described the procedure and discussed past experiences it became apparent he knew what he was doing.

I have been happy over all with the office staff and with Dr. Huse; I have been frustrated by the DELAYS in getting things done and scheduled.

The thing I liked least is the "we are giving you time to decide if you REALLY want to do this" attitude.

After meeting with Dr. Huse, complete medical records in hand, mentally and emotionally prepared to start the process, it was FOUR weeks before the letter left his office. My HMO reviewing physician, while he understood the medical necessity, required a psychological evaluation PRIOR to approving the surgery. By the time I found out they had contacted Dr. Huse's office almost two weeks had passed; then the psychological appointment was going to be more than SIX weeks. I "pitched a fit" with the staff on the phone and told them in no uncertain terms that I had waited long enough and they had better find someone who could do it sooner. They did, but it was still four weeks...from July 11 when the psychological was performed it was ONE week until the surgery was approved and scheduled... on October 20. This is a process that is geared toward people coming to terms with the idea of the surgery and getting comfortable with the idea. I had done that already when I came to see them... I found the long delays very frustrating.

Dr. Huse is part of a a bariatric program at St. Vincent Carmel Hospital, a Sisters of Charity hospital near Indianapolis. They have a well planned and supportive program (www.stvincentcarmel.org/healthservices/bariatric) that includes aftercare.

The risks of surgery were well addressed by the initial consultation and a wealth of information available on the web.

Overall, especially after meeting post operative patients of Dr. Huse, I rate him highly overall; he is not "warm and fuzzy" but he is direct, clear and knows his business.

Between surgical competence and bedside manner, i think surgical competence is the most important. Bedside manner does not, IMNSHO, take the place of surgical competence; however, both is preferable.

When I first went to the St Vincents clinic it seemed so cold and Dr Huse was so general. I almost deceided to change doctors but then I didn't. Boy am I glad I stuck it out with Dr Huse. He was the best and after getting to know him I just love him and would not trade him for the world. He is very good at answering questions and guiding you along the way. His office staff is terrific and really helpful. The only problem is you go to the dietitian at St Vincent Carmel and then to his office at Methodist Hospital an 1/2 hour away. It would be nice if it was all together.

Sept. 12, 2000

Mom and I met with Dr. Huse and a few other
people that were wanting to know more about
weight loss.
Dr. Huse explained in detail all about the 2
surgery procedures. Then went into the Pro's
and Con's of each surgery. All the time asking
if we had any questions.
Dr. Huse is a very soft spoken man that is
right to the point. His staff at carmel St V's
is very nice also. All in all Mom and I were
very pleased with my first visit.

seemed knowledgeable in all areas he is a very short man 19 years exp with this type of surgery office staff very friendly and helpful in the beggining. scheduling surgery and pre op testing requires many different phone calls to different drs not as simple as i had been led to believe.dr huse now has 4 month waiting list for surgery. surgery is not scheduled untill approval has been received

Dr. Huse is very professional. He is a bit too business-like for my taste. He never cracks a smile, and he makes absolutely no small talk.

The office staff at the Bariatric Center in Indianapolis is wonderful. Dr. Huse's office is at another location, and I'v not yet met the people over there, although the woman who schedules everything isn't overly friendly either.

Dr. Huse and his partners have a very comprehensive program. Patients go in with their eyes wide open. There are preop classes and postop support and exercise programs.

My first impression of Dr. Huse was that of a small Mr. Rogers! (from Mr. Rogers' neighborhood). He is very soft spoken, almost shy. I liked him a lot. He went over the VBG procedure as well as the RNY, and was very good at explaining the differences and complications of both.

His office staff is wonderful. Bonnie is who we all saw first. She weighed and measured us, and went over our insurance info with us. My referral had not been faxed to them yet, and Bonnie helped me to get ahold of my PCP and see what was going on.

The aftercare program at St. Vincent's seems to be very good.

I would rate Dr. Huse a 10 on a scale of 1-10.

consultation on May 23, at 2:00 ...hope all goes well! -MAY 24- i went in for my consult. Dr. Huse seems to be a soft spoken man who is inteligent and seems to be very polite. His staff are very nice and the waiting area is very comforatble(meant for us larger folks!)Now i just have to play the waiting game i guess, he said he needs to write my insurance a letter, wait for their responce then go from there. Waiting seems to be the worst part of all of this so far! We did decide that the RNY version would work best for me.
