Dr. Huse is very dedicated and very helpful. He has always taken very careful care of me and I have always had the impression that he cares about each one of his patients success. He is honest and frank with me and I think more and more of him every time I see him. His office staff is helpful, but I have had minor problems with insurance billing, but they have always taken care of any problems.

I am very impressed with Dr. Huse. He is avery serious straight forward doctor. He explains everything very well and answers all questions with kindness. His office staff have been wonderful. He addressed the risks of surgery fairly well. He could have given more information about the risk of more surgery and complications.

My first impression of him was that he was quit and he knew and explained the surgeries in detail. The office staff was great. They were real friendly. The waiting room was great all the seats were very comfortable to sit in.

Dr. Huse is very informative, and seems to
really believe in what he is doing. He is
low keyed and polite and seems to want to make
sure that you are aware of every aspect of
the surgery, both good and bad. I've only
spoken to his staff on the phone, but they've
been very helpful. It is a VERY busy office
and it takes time to get things done. I called
for an appointment in May of 2001, saw Dr. Huse
in September, my insurance approval came in
December and my surgery is in May, 2002, altogether
a one year process.

Dr Huse is very quiet, but friendly.

I was quite impressed with the fact that he has been doing WLS for the past 20-25 yrs. From this I concluded he has had to have "seen it all" as far as what procedures have come and gone. --my Mom had an intestinal bypass in 1973--Dr. Huse explained the differences between her surgery and mine, the open RNY, and why I would not have a chance of having the complications she lived with for the remainder of her life. What superior care he gave me! I felt very copmfortable with his level of experience/expertise.
He currently does only two procedures: open RNY and the lap band?....I'm having RNY, so I dont remember much about the other one!
He explained all possible complications and risks. He told me what was expected of me post-op and what I could expect in return from him. He stressed that he tried to keep things "simple".

In my opinion, Fran at Dr Huse's personal practice office, leaves someting to be desired. (I'll be nice and just say I wouldnt want her job and I'm sure somedays would be stressful.)

The staff at the Bariatric offices of
St Vincent Hospital-Carmel, that Dr Huse works through are wonderful! Always friendly & helpful. They treat me like a regular person, which I always thought I was. (They didnt talk down to because I was fat.)

Dr Huse and the bariatric offices had the approach of "you have a diesease, and this is the tool we can give you to help your disease and help you be healthier. " Then they gave me extensive training on how to use my new tool to lose weight.

I had a 5 hours dietary class that told me everything to eat and do the first year post-op. I was told everything that would happen while I was inpatient. And then, just to make sure you dont forget anything, they send you home with a huge packette of info that has everything spelled out so you can refer to it at anytime. The dieticians are available m-f to answer any dietary questions you may have.

St Vincent-Carmel offers a support group that meets monthly (three different days/times) a weekly excercise class and an online support group (which helps me as I dont live in Indianapolis). I believe all the support groups, excercise classes and the 5 hr dietary class are w/o charge for as long as you'd like to attend. This makes me think they REALLY CARE about my aftercare. I think I am definately set-up to succeed from the word "go".

POST-OP: I liked Dr. Huse very, very much and am so glad I chose him as my surgeon. He definitely knows his stuff and I knew from the very beginning that he had my best interest in mind. I was never nervous or questioned anything he did. I felt very, very at ease with the entire experience.

INITIAL CONSULTATION: Dr. Huse was very thorough in his explanation of the different types of surgery and stressed the importance of participating in the whole program. I didn't feel at all like a "bad person" who had done something wrong by being overweight. Be prepared to WAIT for surgery though. Evidently he is very busy, and must only do a limited number of these each week because my surgery date was 6 months away!

I have yet to meet Dr. Huse, but am due to on 12/14/01. I was pleased with the speed they sent me my introductory packet.

My PCP said he had heard of his reputation and was pleased I had chosen to use him.

Dr. Huse is great! At our first meeting, I wasn't too impressed with his personality, but after knowing him a while, I realized that he is very quiet, but has a dry, funny sense of humor, too. He is a very capable surgeon. I felt very comfortable in his care. My husband also had WLS with Dr. Huse. I felt confident that he would have a good experience with Dr. Huse also.

I liked Dr. Huse very much as soon as I met him. I had talked with another surgeon and had 2 consults with that surgeon and the next week the nurse called and said that surgeon was no longer doing the surgery for wls any longer but they still charged me 177$. Dr. Huse is not only doing my surgery, but he also waived the consult for me since the other surgeon did me and several others kind of dirty. I am told that Dr. Huse is one of the top surgeons in Indiana for the wls. I feel very confident in his abilities and I go to the pre-surgery tests on Dec. 18th and the post surgery classes on Dec. 27th. I feel that changing surgeons mid stream was inconvenient; however I feel it was for the best. I have full trust in Dr. Huse and I am glad that he is going to be performing my surgery.
