My personal impression is that Dr. Davidson is a very nice, pleasant man. He was very upfront and to the point. He dictated the letter to my insurance company in front of me, so I felt that I had a say in what all was said and/or to correct anything as needed.
Before I saw the doctor there was an information seminar with the program director, Chris - who is just awesome. He was so patient and answered anything and everything that the group asked.
Then I went back to get vitals done, picture taken and then I met the doctor. I first met Diana who was just too sweet. She was very patient and encouraging as she shared some patient success stories and answered more of my questions.
Then the Dr. visit. And lastly I got to meet Linda. She was extremely busy but when I showed up to check out, I was her number one priority.
I really felt like everyone went out of their way to make me feel at ease and comfortable and I felt like they let me know they were there for me anytime I need them.
Dr. Davidson is very upfront, not on the main part to make you feel "special" and or "comfortable." He is very nice, but I think he is definetely their to make sure he is doing his part of a surgeon, let you know what's going to happen, positives and negatives of each individual surgery. He is a good guy. His office staff is wonderful. Diana is a great lady to speak with. As far as aftercare, I'm not sure right now, but hopefully will soon and can update more, but for now he seems to be a good guy w/ less act for "bedside manner."
First impression, scary, quiet, stern. He did not sugar coat anything, you know what the risks are, he even gives a quiz after he speaks to you
Things got better after time and talking to him. What a amazing surgeon, he knows his stuff. The staff are even better, they remember each patient by their name. wow.
The aftercare program is what make Dr D's office the best that I found. Spoke to 3 people who had surgery and are themselves in the medical field, like myself, all had great things to say about everything about the Dr, staff, surgery
He is matter-of-fact, dry sense of humor, very knowledgable, thorough in pre-op testing to insure safety of surgery for me.
I respect him as an outstanding surgeon and trust his recommendations.
His office staff is very family-oriented, friendly, talented and professional.
He is acknowledged in Dallas as part of the top Doctors in Dallas.
He stresses importance of the aftercare program, which is part of his post op routine.
He was honest about the risks of surgery and again, required many pre op tests according to my personal situation.
Surgical competence and bedside manner are great.
As of now, I am using Dr. James Davidson in Dallas and will be able to have the surgery done lap rather than open.
Dr. D. is EXTREMELY knowledgable in his field and is highly respected by the entire Dallas medical community. He is a very dry, straightforward man. Everything that I read from others about him was true. He is not a cut up or a hand-holder, but he is a wonderful man who cares about his patients and has spent his life dedicating himself to being the best surgeon that God has created him to be. He is a humble man. What he doesn't have in the warm fuzzy dept., his office staff makes up for. Chris, the program director, is terrific. He is very dedicated and committed to patient care and success.
This was the third, yes THIRD seminar that I had attended and was, by far, the best and most thorough. It was tremendous!! I am eager to have this surgery and be on the other side and on my way to my new, improved life!!!! I'm so thankful that God has led me to Dr. Davidson!!
**Post-op note** I had my surgery on a Thursday and went home on a Friday. It was the EASIEST thing I've ever done!!! I'd do it again in a heartbeat, BUT ONLY with Dr. Davidson!! I've had absolutely no problems whatsoever!!!
My first impression of Dr. Davidson was that is is very businesslike and knowledgeable. He is friendly but does not overdo it. The office staff is very friendly and very helpful. There is a very good aftercare program with regular visits, postop tests, support group, and dietician classes.
Dr. Davidson was very specific about addressing the surgical risks and questioned me closely to be sure I had a good understanding of the possibilities. I would say his surgical competence is better than his bedside manner, and that is no problem for me. I would recommend Dr. Davidson and the program wholeheartedly.
Dr. Davidson is a no-nonsense type of person who believes in getting down to business and doing what's right for his patients. He likes to quiz his patients on what we've been taught through the edicational program required prior to surgery. I remember in my initial consultation with him, he asked me what were the two main causes of death from the surgery (leaks and blood clots). It was emphasized during the educational seminar that Dr. Davidson uses 3 methods to stop leaks - staples, oversewing and surgical glue. He personally had me up and walking the evening of my surgery, taking the catheter out of me himself when there wasn't a nurse around! He's a firm believer in getting up and walking on a regular basis while in the hospital. To me, just as important as the surgeon is the office staff. Dr. Davidson's staff is supportive and very organized. They care about their patients and are committed to after care so that we can be as healthy and successful as possible following surgery. The day after surgery, Diana came by the hospital with a bag of goodies (water bottle, shot glass, protein powder) and taught me how to use my new pouch. She poured some water into the shot glass and had me drink it, then a couple of sips more until I felt the full sensation. They also have a structured after care program with support group meetings and nutritional education at regular intervals. They also offer an exercise program for an additional cost. Overall, I am delighted Dr. Davidson was on my insurance so I could benefit from his excellent surgical skills, no-nonsense approach and caring staff. I highly recommend Dr. Davidson to anyone searching for a surgeon.
Business like. Very thorough..cautious..professional..very dry sense of humor.
Office staff as well as Doctor...make you feel very comfortable.
Remember that one's bark may be worse than the bite.
The have a 36 month follow up care program, that is very comprehensive.
Explained all the risks of surgery to me and then wanted to talk to my husband to make sure he understood them as well.
I am much more concerned with a Doctor's competence...than bed side manner.
my first impression of dr.Davidson was he was very quiet. Then when i got to meet and talk to him personally,I found out he had a great personality. The staff at dallas presbyterian are wonderful they know you by name when you call and they listen to your problems and find a answer for all your questions.I loved all the staff.I highly recommend dr.D and his staffThey have a 3 yr aftercare program with great support meetings.I rate this office 1-10 they are a 10 being the best.
