Dr. Juarez is very quiet, and seemed to be very nice. I was with him for my consult on March 23, 2001, for about 5 minutes. In that time he didn't talk much, but you can't make friend in 5 minutes. I am sure that he will be wonderful in doing my surgery. All I have talked to love him.
The office staff was slow. It took four weeks before they even sent my papers to the insurance company, but once it was with them I was oked with in 3 working days.
7/19/00 I went to the Weight for Life information seminar in Phoenix. 9/6/00 My insurance Co will Only cover Dr Juarez for surgery. 9/15/00 I met with Dr Juarez, it was very quick, he answered all my questions. He said his office would call me to set up a date for surgery. We then went to the Seminar he puts on and it was informative. 10/4/2000 I finally have a surgery date 11-22-2000.The Dr's office has done a good job with handling everything so far.
My first impression - he is very commited to what he does and wants to see success - he is doing this to help people not for his own personal gain.
I have met him twice and have not changed my feeling about him, I think he is a caring doctor.
His office staff has been great - I had read the horror stories and I was prepared, but must say, I have had no problems with them what so ever.
He is extremely busy, with a waiting room full of patients, but I am glad to see that people are utlitzing him.
Aftercare is a huge part of this program.
It is very structured and there for you to use.
All risks were addressed straight forward, there was no sugarcoating - although he did say he has not lost a patient yet with this proceudre - which made me feel better.
I rate him an 11 on a 10 scale.
Still waiting for surgery, dont know anything about bedside manner yet, but with as much patience as he appears to have, I am sure I will not see any problems......he definatley seems like a very competent surgeon and I feel comfortable with my decision to go with him.
I first learned of Dr. Juarez from this site, and as he is one of the only surgeons in the southwest who does the procedure laproscopically, I decided I would investigate him. From all accounts, he is an excellent surgeon, and I had my consult with him Jan. 19th. I was very pleased with the surgeon- I brought a list of questions with me, and he answered everyone. When I cracked a joke, he actually smiled and laughed, and that put me right at ease. I think he has a very nice manner, and feel good about his capabilities. He said he has done at least 400 RNYs, with about 60 of those being lap surgeries. His staff was very nice as well. I did wish I had had a little more time with him, however I realize he is busy, and he did have a waiting room full of patients.
POST-OP:
He did a great job! Little incisions, and very good. Good surgical staff as well, including his assistant. This was a very good choice for me. Dr. Juarez also does pain relief as a patient controlled pump through the IV... the other doc I considered gives shots every 4 hours, which I would have hated. (hate needles- prefer to medicate myself)
Dr. Juarez's office staff.
Have you read about them? Have you read how horrible they are? How rude they are? How uncaring they are? I am here to add my two cents.
I went to the office with preconceived thoughts of horror. And I was wrong.
I found an office filled with kindness and a true caring staff. I have to admit, this is a staff that I would like to dislike. All being slim, nice looking and in good health, but I got passed that. (God bless their souls.)Give these girls a chance and you will find them to be competent and kind hearted.
The process does take time. And I have an insiders view of insurance companies. Trust me when I say, Bettie has the worst job of them all. I myself must have called her seven times. Each time Bettie (and sometimes Jackie) explained to me where we were and what was needed. Then in turn, I lit the fires under my insurance company's butt. I had to fax the same form of information four times to my insurance company. This delayed my surgery by a month. Fault often falls at the front door of your insurance company, not the doctor's office staff.
I just want to thank each and everyone in Doctor Juarez's office. Keep up the good work.
I was impressed with Dr Juarez when i attended the 1st support group,he was very knowledgeable and very patient with all our questions.I met him at mt 1st consult and I was pleased that he took the time to go over my questions and concerns,he is a very likeable person, a little shy but i think he was just extremely busy. His office staff could not have been nicer, especially kelly ( she is over the wt mgmt group) and Jane the dietician, they also wer very knowledgeable and concerned about you as an individual not as a patient.future patients do not think he does not care as he is very direct and does not talk small talk unless you open up the conversation. He is a strong supporter of the aftercare program and does not mince words, you are not going to lose the weight without helping yourself,he is the surgeon but you are the result.the sftercare program at St Lukes is an 11 on a scale of 1-10,you meet with other people in different phases of the surgery, from checking it out initially to people who had the surgery several years ago.Dr Juarez was very explicit on what and what not to expect from this surgery, the handouts that his office staff give out is very clear and easy to read and follow.I would rate Dr Juarez also an 11 on a scale of 1-10( including his office staff )
the dr was great his weight loss staff was caring and supportive nothing was sugar coated they gave all necessary information to make an educated decision to have the surgery.my impression has not changed.they were great...cant think of anything negative.i saw two drs in the phoenix area and i am really glad that the 1st could not get ins. approval. the nutrinalist called once a week for about three weeks yes addressed all question directly 10 both are great
Not only is Dr. Juarez one of the best surgeons in Phoenix, he is also a personable and caring doctor. Just don't expect him to spending a lot to time getting to know you...with his schedule I am surprised he has time to eat! LOL
My care in the hospital was great!! I have no complaints. Everytime I called for a nurse, they were there at my beckon call.
The ONLY complaint I have is about the insurance process and the info I was given. At first I was denied by Tricare for not meeting their criteria. The person that handles the insurance paperwork for Dr. Juarez told me that once I am denied, there is nothing I could do. Well, if i listened to this person, I wouldn't have had the decision overturned and wouldn't have finally had the surgery. For someone that mainly works with insurance matters all week, she surely didn't know what she was talking about. To me, it was almost like she was saying to not pursue getting surgery instead of saying to write a letter of appeal and see what happens from there.
My first impression of Dr. Juarez was won
wonderful. He spent alot of time dis-
cussing the procedure and aftercare.
I was very impressed with him and he
made me and my husband feel very
comfortable. Very friendly and know-
ledgable. My only complaint is he is
a very busy surgeon but that gives
me confidence in his abilities. I am
3 weeks from surgery!
My first impression of Dr. Juarez was positive. He seems understanding and compassionate. The office staff are fine. He has a very busy practice, so I think things there are a bit hectic. I have heard very positive feedback regarding Dr. Juarez's abilities as a surgeon. His practice does emphasis aftercare and has a solid program in place. Risks of surgery are discussed and outlined at his seminar (required of all new patients).
