So far I have only seen Dr. Juarez once and he was very straightforward and seemed to have a respectful manner toward me.

Well I havent met him yet, but I'm kinda optimistic because of all the negative responces that I have read, however he is the only Doctor in town that does the surgery laparoscopicly, and I don't want the big scar and all of the healing time of getting it done open.

Very quiet and non assuming.

I was originally scheduled to have surgery with Dr. Feinstein on 12-22-00. My surgery was postpones twice (both times due to an uncooperative anesthesiologist) and then Dr. Feinstein abruptly STOPPED doing the surgery. I had to start over.

While I was with Dr. F and his staff, they seemed very competent and concerned. Every question I asked was answered, and every problem resolved. Since then, I have my doubts.

I made an appointment with Dr. Juarez ASAP, and thankfully, my insurance approval was still god as were most of my pre-op testing. Luckily, I did not have to go through all the rig-a-ma-role again and I was scheduled to have surgery within the month. Whoo-hoo!

As a bonus, Dr. J does the RnY laparoscopically.

I am not as pleased with Dr. J's staff. They either seem too busy to talk to me, generally or grossly misinformed or extremely condescending. If you ask two different members of his staff the same question, you will invariably get two largely differing answers. Kinda scary. On the other hand, his assistant? (the other male doctor) is extremely patient and helpful -- but you do not get the chance to request to speak to him.

Dr. J does tend to push a lot of my aftercare questions to my regular PCP. My PCP is not very knowledgable about WLS, and that bothers me a bit.

From my experince I have found him to be personalble and very well liked by his patients. He seen to have a good reputation from his peers. His staff seems to work very hard as they are a busy practice. Dr Juarez has a very busy surgery schedule.

Dr. Juarez and The St. Lukes Weight Managment Program are a fabulous group of professional people. They are totally focused on helping obese people change their life.

The staff was a little more difficult to work with but if you stay on them the appropriate paperwork will be handled.

Dr. Juarez's after-care program is heavily emphasized by all the professionals you meet and deal with prior to surgery. He has support groups and follow up calls by the dietician and the weight management program.

I would rate Dr. Juarez and all the healthcare professionals very high. His surgical competence far outweighs his bedside manner. His PA, Emile, makes up for compassion needed.

My first impression of Dr. Juarez is a good one. He seems very busy, but tries to help everyone. I wish he had more time for 1:1's to make me feel like I wasn't just another fat person going through his office. The staff was fine...some calls were not returned by Jackie, but other than that, no problems. His aftercare and pre-care is very good. The group sessions offered every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month is very helpful. The dietician and counsolors are on hand for these meetings. I have heard of others going through this surgery years ago and received no aftercare which created issues that could have been avoided if she was only offered the help. Dr. Juarez and his staff make you do the whole package, not just the surgery. Overall, Dr. Juarez is a good choice...he isn't the funniest guy in the world, but he knows what he is doing and that is better than having a great bedside manner.

he was very up front and verypersonable.
I still like his mannerisms.
His staff is very much supportive of the patient and
show concern.
Nothing I can think of not to like!!
All the above!!
Stresses after care with support groups
every Tuesday.
The risks are gone over and they
don't come close to the benefits attained.
I would rate him a 9.5 he dosen't walk on water so
not a 10.0
I think all the competence AND bedside manner.

I feel as if I have been on a Surgeons Merry-Go-Round. I first went to see Dr. Newoff, but my insurance then would not approve of the surgery. Then I changed insurance company, and was put on a waiting list for Dr. Zahn. I never did get to see him, because he and my new insurance company had a disagreement. How depressing! Today, April 9, 2001 I saw Dr. Juarez. Whew! I was examined by his NP, Emil, who has great bed side manners and is very compassionate. Dr Juarez seems to be very honest and skillful and for the first time since I began this journey five years ago, I felt that this time, this may be it. I filled out paper work and needed to do some foot work in getting physicians' and former weightloss clinics address' which is the least I can do...I hopefully will hear in 3 to 4 weeks. Saying many prayers!!
