I first met him at a wls seminar that is mandatory to attend if you have surgery by him. He was very open, direct, and informative. He took lots of time to answer all of the small groups questions.
My impression has only improved since surgery, and I am an ICU nurse.
I so far don't care for his office staff. I felt like just a number to them, and had a few misunderstandindings on their part.
There was nothing that i did not like about him. He is very respectful and sincere.
Aftercare is strongly encouraged and they seem to have great support groups run by a wonderful psych dr.
In the initial seminar he laid all risks out on the line. I would rate him as a 10 on a 0-10 scale. Bedside manner and surgical competence are both great.
My first impression of Dr. Juarez was a very caring and personable doctor. He answered all questions patiently and didn't get preturbed or upset when asked to go over a certain part again. HeH
He stressed the importance of getting up after surgery and went over all of the possible conplications. I feel comfortable that he will be performing the surgery (based on insurance acceptance).
8/2/00 I'm not happy with the staff I have had to nag them every step of the way. I have to remind them where to send letters and beg for an appointment. Even though my insurance has approved me the staff refuses to acknowledge this until they get the letter in hand, even though the insurance company said they would be glad to tell them via phone I was approved and fax them confirmation.
I like the program director, but feel like I'm just a number to the office staff themselves.
Dr. Hilario Juarez M.D., F.A.C.S. of Abdominal Surgeons, ltd. 602-252-1510 in Phoenix, Arizona.
He is teamed up with Dr. Zahn as the surgeons for St.Luke's medical center Weight Management Program, 1-800-248-5553.
He specializes in laparoscopic abdominal surgery and is the only one doing Lap RNY's in Arizona.
Nice guy. I met with him twice. The first time was 4 months before the surgery and then again the day before.
I found him easy to talk to with a warm and friendly face. I feel completely confident in his skills as a surgeon.
He is really dedicated to developing a weight lose program and helping those of us who need help. It's very importaint to him that we involved in the weight lose program in which he is just a small part of. He believes that surgery with out follow up support can be a problem.
He is well regarded for his skills and reputation as a surgeon amongst his peers. It is what these other doctors think of him as a surgeon that I regard as the best indicator of his skill.
With that all said and now that the surgey is over am I glad I went to him and would I reccomend him? The answer yes with no regrets what's so ever.
Dr. Juarez seems to be very capable. Have heard many good things from others about him. He does the transected RNY which is my surgery of choice. Will be having Dr. Zahn assisting in surgery. They have a wonderful support group that meets twice a month at St. Lukes Hospital. Not sure why he's not on this list. Lots of people in Az have used him. It looks like he (or someone tried to help him) sign up but didn't sign up under surgeons. He signed up under local peers. I'll have to let him know. LOL
