Gus Slotman Bariatric Surgeon M.D.

my first impression of dr slotman was that he was great very open and to the point the more i talk to him and his staff the eager i was his staff is great i thing that future patients should know that Dr. slotman is very kind and understanding he address all good and bad points and the good out weighed the bad over all i would rate him a 10 so far i think he is surgical competence

Dr. Slotman is the best surgeon. He took the time to talk to me about all of my concens. He is very funny and that helped to ease my extreme nervousness. I brought my friend with me to the first meeting and he didn't have any problem answering her questions, you know all the things you want to ask but forget because you are too nervous. The worst thing is the wait but I knew about that ahead of time, the office staff is as wonderful and helpful as Dr. Slotman. He made sure that before I made the
decision to have the surgery that I knew everything there was to know about it. I had to have the open procedure because of previous surgeries and he explained everything to me. When I was waiting to go in for the surgery he came in and lightened the mood. I have never felt so at easy before a surgery than this one and this is my fourth major surgery. When I went home and had a question and called the office for help he called me back within minutes.
Not only was the response quick but he put my fears to rest and made me more comfortable about everything. I cann't thank him enough for all that he has done. I would recomend him to anyone, he is the best. On a scale of 1-10 he is a 20.

I met Dr. Slotman on 3/18/04. I was referred to him by my family dr. and a personal friend. I was previously approved to have WLS another dr., but was not comfortable with him. Dr. Slotman was very busy the day I met him, but was willing to go over my concerns. Before speaking with him, I was required to a watch a video with some other new patients. His staff is wonderful and friendly and I feel totally comfortable with them. I know I made the right choice of surgeons. There is a before and aftercare program thru Lourdes.

Dr.Slotman has a great personality.He makes you feel like your health is his #1 priority.
Another thing I liked was he explain the surgery and the procedure to you clearly and gave you time to make you mind up after leaving his office.And speaking of his office
I don't know if he trained them or are they just heaven sent,but they were very nice and helpful and didn't delay on anything.For anyone looking to get this surgery,choosing Dr.Slotman would be an awesome move b/c he don't pressure you and he take out the time to answer your questions(not even knowing if you're going to be getting the surgery with him)He also talk to you about the importance
of aftercare.Letting you know this is vital to you recovering smoothly.And please don't think this is a walk in the park, he explain the risks and probabilities of this surgery,
that's why he give you a chance to go home and think about all he has told you.This staff of people really work together and I would give them a "CLEAN BILL OF HEALTH" #1!
One other thing,they took care of my insurance approval,I never had to write anything or talk to anybody!!!

Gus is very friendly and has photos all over his office of his trips to impoverished nations as a volunteer. He seems to legitamately CARE about all he meets (although he can come off as superficial at times). He is a perfectionist in the OR. According to the OR nurses I spoke to, he gets upset if things are not "just so". His reputation is the surgical community is outstanding.His office staff made the transition and insurance issues very easy. One of his staff actually had the surgery herself. He is very upfront about his complication rates(which are much lower than the national average). He is affiliated with Our Lady of Lourdes in Camden, NJ and they have a full before and after care, including massages!

Dr. Slotman answered all of my questions on my first visit. His office staff is wonderful especially Betty. Dr. S's theory is you are here to make him look good!!

Right from the start I was very impressed not only with Dr. Slotman but also with his staff. Both pre-op and post-op everyone has been supportive and answered all my questions and concerns. I consulted and researched numerous other doctors in the Central and Southern NJ area and found Dr. Slotman's competence along with his bedside manner to be the best. His staff is equally competent and friendly. I highly recommend him to anyone considering bypass surgery.

Dr. Slotman seemed like a very good surgeon he answered all my question. He moved to Our Landy of Lord's which I am not happy with like it better with him in Cooper
Just hope he will be doing LAP when it is my turn.

Just finished all my test (for Clearance ) now I am waiting for a date.

I met Dr. Slotman on two office visits so far. On both visits, I first watched a videotape and then met with the doctor. My first visit was in April, and then my second visit was October 30th (two weeks prior to surgery).

I have nothing earthshaking to report about Dr. Slotman. He is friendly and professional. He sometimes seems weary of repeating the same message, but that's entirely understandable.

Dr. Slotman pleasantly answered all of my questions and briefly described his approach for surgery. Initially he stated that he was not performing the surgery laproscopically due to stapling problems, but that in my case (large torso) it would not be advisable regardless.

Dr Slotman discussed the risks in terms of global statistics, but also gave his personal statistics if asked (death rate, frequency of complications, etc.)

My surgery is this coming Wednesday, and I feel that I am in good hands.

I was very impressed with the way Dr. Slotman seemed to be very caring of all his patients and his urgency to help them.

The more I spoke with him, the more relaxed I felt with him to the point where we began to joke with each other.

I felt his staff was most helpful and thought very highly of Dr. Slotman.

I highly recommend attending his support group which meets once a month. The informative group meets the first Tuesday of every month, the pre-ops meet the second Tuesday of each month and the post-ops meet the thrid Tuesday of each month. For further information, please call his office. It's wonderful to be able to relate to people who are going through the same thing you are!

How do I rate Dr. Slotman? I'm putting my life in his hands to give me that first step to a better, healthier life! I trust him without a doubt!
