Gus Slotman Bariatric Surgeon M.D.

My 1st impression of Dr. Slotman was how friendly and easy going he was to talk to. He never made me feel like I was a fat person and in fact he made me blush becasue he told me how pretty I am and how great I will look. His Motto is "if you don't look good, I don't look good" =) I love that I chose him to work on me.

His staff is one in a million. Betty and Shirily are great women!

I felt 100% posative with my choice in Dr. Slotman.

I urge everyone to listen to every single thing this man tells you to do. You can only gain from this.

my first inpression was , he was a very easy going ,conpasonet,intelligent man with a great sence of humor.the office staff has been great through out all the red tape.once they get to know you, they really warm up to you.i ask one of the staff if she would be there at the time of my surgery, she said" no, im usually here in the office but, if you would like me there just call me and ill be there." i thought that was amazing!!! i felt very cared about. evry doctor ive spoke to, and every patient ive talked to had nothing but great things to say. and apparently he is very well known! every time i say his name, someone knows him or is a patient. i feel very comfortable with my choice. and im convinced he will do everything he can for me saftly and with great experience!!

Dr. Slotman is the best! He makes you feel very comfortable and answers all and any questions you may have. He lets you know right from the start of the ups and downs associated with this surgery. His office staff is also very very nice. Shirly called me with a surgery date and I wanted to jump through the phone and give her the biggest hug! (Did when I saw her) I wouldn't say anything bad about Dr. Slotman or his staff. Everyone has been very helpful and kind on this journey I'm about to take. I wouldn't want my life in any other surgeons hands I know I have picked one of the best.

I think he belongs on extreme makeover, he has that surgeon personality. When you go to his office he makes yous ee a film about what he is going to do which I think is comical. I feel safe for him to look at place I have never been, thought I wish I was on TV so I can see to.

I saw Dr. Slotman on May 28th, 2004. My first impression with the office and staff was GREAT! The ladies are so nice. I watched the 15 minute film, and then waited about an hour in the exam room. Dr. Slotman seemed very experienced with the procedure, and even though he only performs the surgery OPEN now (LAP had too many problems) that was fine because due to previous surgeries that's the way I would need to go anyway.
He gave me a list of doctors/tests I need to have before I can be scheduled for surgery including my oncologists, a pulmonologist, cardiologist, and the upper GI.

I recommend that you schedule your appointments for these clearences AS SOON AS POSSIBLE because the waiting times are MONTHS in the future. AND if you are lucky enough (like me) to have the kind of insurance that allows you to choose from many different specialists, call around! The first pulmonolgist office I called didn't have an opening until SEPT! That was 4 months away! The second one had an opening in 2 weeks...BIG DIFFERENCE!

When i first met Dr. Slottman i was a lilttle upset cause i had waited a very long time in the office. But he was very encouraging and gave a lot of postive reassurance. he had me wath a video about the surgery and possible side effects. the staff was very freindly and helpful. I felt that Dr Slottman was very busy and he didnt spend alot of time with me i felt almost like i was in a factory line.
I think future patients should know that although dr slotman is very busy he is also very good at what he does. He does what is best for you and will not get around that. he is very thorough.
as far as the aftercare is concerned i dont feel as though i really got any of that. on a scale of 1-10 i would give dr.Slottman a 7. he surgical comptence is excellent but his bedside manner could use a little work .

I really liked Dr Slotman when I first met him. He and his office staff where very kind a courteous. They never once made me feel uncomfortable or out of place. They even accomadated me with a comfortable place to sit while I waited. The general feel in his office is one of comfort and hominess. He even has pictures his kids did up in the exam rooms. Dr Slotman never acted like he was better then me. He answered all my questions and even some I didn't think to ask. His emphasis on before and after care was wonderful. He gave me loads of resourses. I would recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Slotman is very freindly, answered the few questions I had after the film and having been close to my neice who had the surgery a year ago.
Staff was very helpful, open and friendly. We did discuss the risks of surgery and the possibility that I may have a lot of scar tissue from past surgeries. I hope not because I am really ready for this.

When i went to my first appt at Dr. Slotman's office i was very surprised at how friendly all of the staff was in the office, everyone from the receptionist straight to Dr Slotman himself. He was wonderful, I could not of asked for a better surgeon. He answered all of the questions that i had and threw in just the right amount of humor to lighten the mood enough so i could let go of being as nervious as i was. I can not think of anything that i did not like about Dr. Slotman, the only thing the slighest bit negative that comes to mind would be the wait in the office, which i was warned about by the staff with each appointment. I would not have changed my surgeon for anything. I am extremely pleased with everything. Dr Slotman has wonderful bedside manner and his surgical competence is also top quality over all i would rate him a 10++++++++++++

My first impression of Dr.Sloutman was,man I hope this guy is ready for a person my size.(480) I felt like I was the biggest thing in the office. When I first met him he came off as a cool laid back dude,and he really is. He made me feel important, like I was his only patient. I had been to 1 other surgeon before him,and Dr.Sloutman knocked him right out the water. He stressed all the risks,the pros&cons,everything. He kept me calm right before the surgery,and kept me very upbeat all through my hospital stay. His staff is very friendly and very helpful. They always have a kind word to say. Dr. Sloutman is the man!!!!!!!
