Gus Slotman Bariatric Surgeon M.D.
Met Dr. Slotman on 3/18/03 for my first consultation. I found him very funny and knowledgeable. He takes whatever time you need to ask him questions. GREAT bedside manner. He's a pretty funny guy. He walked my husband, Stephen and I to the door talking the entire way. Based on some things we discussed, I truly feel he is an excellent surgeon. Both my husband and I felt strongly about him.
The Office Staff, expecially Shirley are the best in the business.
Both his bedside manner and surgical competence are the best I've ever seen.
I rate him a 1,000,000~
Had my first consultation with Dr Slotman today Aug 14th 2003. Shirley and Betty were very friendly put me at ease right away. Dr Slotman was very informative and direct right to the point. Making sure that this surgery was for me. I felt very good about making the decision to have him do the surgery.
Dr. Slotman moved his WLS practice to Lourdes in Camden after Cooper in Camden stopped the practive of WLS in their hospital. His new office is on Haddonfield Road in Cherry Hill, just past Capuano Restaurant, near the old Racetrack.
Shirley is SO HELPFUL! She answers all your questions, responds to telephone messages quickly and is very patient with impatient patients (LOL)! She is a wonderful person to have help you through all the pre-op stuff.
I was referred to Dr. Slotman by my PCP/Nurse Practicioner in July 2002. I called Dr. Slotman's office for a consult appointment on 8/1/02 and was given a consultation appointment for 12/19/02. On 12/19/02, my husband accompanied me to my 1:30 pm appointment. I found Dr. Gus Slotman to be very personable. He even commented on my outfitt. He said it was beautiful. He even named the designer and the silk fabric. He knows how to observe and select a positive trait about everyone and use it to flatter them and make them feel good about themselves. I like that!! Before meeting him in the examination room, another patient and I were shown a video which was perpared by and starred Dr. Slotman. In the video Dr. Slotman covered all aspects of the surgery. He stressed the dangers and discussed commonly asked questions. With the reseach time online, the Obesity Help site, the video, and other information sent to me by Dr. Slotman prior to my appointment. I had only a few concerns/questions to ask and discuss. He answered my questions in a clear concise manner. I felt confident and reassured when I left his office. He would not allow me to make my decision to have the surgery in his office. I had to wait 24 hours before calling his office with my decision.
Thanks for the opportunity to share my WLS experience with you. I first met Dr. Slotman while visiting my friend in the hospital after her Open RNY WLS during January 2001. After meeting Dr. Slotman in her room and sharing her successful recovery experience during 2001, I decided to move forward with WLS. I had Open RNY on 1/21/02 with Dr. Slotman at Cooper Hospital. I underwent surgery on Monday and was released on Friday.
His manner and professionalism make you feel very comfortable.... and anyone contemplating this surgery knows that being morbidly obese and discussing it with others can be most UNcomfortable.
One of the members of his office staff is also a WLS patient and I've found the other post-op patients to be most helpful and caring.
I would recommend Dr. Slotman to anyone considering WLS because he is honest and upfront about the risks (blockages, hernia, gall bladder removal, and other long-term health issues like excess skin, breast lift, etc.)
I had my appointment with Dr. Slotman on Tuesday May 20, 2003. I absolutely adore him! He made me laugh immediately when he came in and saw my leg in the cast and immobolizer (I fell doing laundry and fractured and dislocated my knee and fractured my ankle in 2 places). That put me at ease right away. He is very patient and understanding. I feel very confident in my choice.
His office staff is also wonderful! Shirley and Betty are sweethearts and answer all questions honestly.
May 6th, 2003 - First off, if you have a husband like mine with little to no patience, DON'T take him with you to the office! My appointment was for 11:30 AM and we did not talk to the Doctor until 2:45 P.M. The office staff was very nice. So was Dr. Slotman, however, I felt really rushed and did not get to have all my questions answered. He did tell of all the risks of the surgery and of the importance of aftercare. I did feel comfortable with him and am having him do my surgery.
He was very nice and personable when I first met him. My son was with me when I had my first consultation, and he ashored my son that he would take very good care of me and he had nothing to worry about, my son was 11yrs old at that time. He put my son right at ease and he liked him. His office staff is very nice. One of his staff persons actually had the surgery done by him.
I was scheduled for January 29,2003 but there was a change in hospitals. Now my surgery is going to be at Lady Of Lords instead of Cooper. My new date, fast approching is April 21,2003.
I am very nervous and excited. I have heard nothing but rave reviews about the good doctor. Anyone who knows someone who went to him said he is the best around. That is great to hear. I have also talked to some of the people he has done the procedure on and they feel and look great and all have uplifting stories of thier own befores and afters.
I am ready to do it! And so my journey begins.....
THE FIRST LOOK AT DR.SLOTMAN, I COULD TELL HE WAS A PERSON I COULD GET ALONG WITH, HE HAS THAT DOWN TO EARTH KIND OF LOOK, AND I WAS RIGHT HE IS KIND OF A FUNNY PERSON, I LIKE THAT. I LIKED ALL THE WORKERS, THEY ARE REAL NICE, EVEN THOUGH I CAN GO NOW ONLY BY MY FIRST VISIT, I LIKED IT.
I LIKED HOW THEY SHOW YOU EXACTLY WHAT IS GOING TO BE DONE AND HOW THEY ASK FOR QUESTIONS IF YOU HAVE A WORRY.
I THINK DR.SLOTMAN IS NOT GOING TO STAY WITH THAT TITLE, I THINK SOON IT WILL BE
MY FRIEND DR.SLOTMAN.
