My first impression of Dr. Jossart was at my first WLS support meeting in Petaluma, CA. I had just found out the day prior that my insurance had changed and I was in a jumble of emotions about starting over with getting an insurance approved surgeon figured out.

Dr. Jossart heard what I had to say and set aside some time after the lecture to speak with me. He took my name and phone number and his staff called me the following week to schedule a consultation. He was kind as I was not yet his patient and yet he was taking time to listen. I appreciate people who listen and do what they can to help.

At my consultation he was polite, informative and assured me that I would get insurance approval. I hope he is right! My BMI is 53 currently. He asked me to lose some weight and focus on a low-fat protein diet preop to get my liver in shape as he does this laproscopically and has to push the liver aside to get at my stomach and intestines and wants it not to fall apart during the operation. So I am doing what I can preop to get my body in shape for surgery. Well the best I can at 285 lbs.

By paying for surgery you get 2 years follow up care.

He did a fine job, and I have to give him credit because I went in there with about 30 questions and we went through all of them. Plus he gave me this preop surgery booklet that covers everything under the sun.

Postop I would now say that my impression of Dr. J has only improved. I feel assurred that he wants to make sure I am doing well and will do everything to make sure I am doing well. Great nurses at CPMC as well! He and his assistant surgeon Dr. Tolland are very competent and kind.

Dr. Jossart appears to be very knowledgeable
and comes with a stellar reputation! Our appointment was rushed (my fault) but we squeezed as much info as possible into what time we had. I was 10 minutes late due to VERY heavy traffic...
I'll write more after my surgery. His staff in the San Francisco office is fantastic! Amy you rock! These ladies know what they are doing! Whoo hoo!

Update on the surgeons that helped me;
They are fantastic! I am a very fortunant person. I know most people say they got the best around, but I honestly I think I DID get the best bariactic surgeons in the USA. Interesting enough, I live over an hour north of San Francisco but my PCP suggested seeing the Laproscopic Center in San Francisco. My surgery was done and I was back to work in 9 1/2 days!

The negative: I had tiny complications right after surgery. I dont think it was anyone's fault but there was more bleeding than they expected and I had a tiny infection for a few days but once that all cleared up I healed quickly.

My first impression of Laparoscopic Associates of San Francisco was - AWESOME! Their online registration is very easy and thorough, saving you time when you have your first appointment. Their staff is very nice and knowledgable.

Dr. Jossart was very thorough during my consultation. He went gave me extensive information and answered every question that my husband and I had.

The aftercare program is very extensive, as well. They stress follow-up with them and lab-work for the rest of your life. They are also on-call 24-7 for any issues you might have.

I would rate my experience so far (2 days post-op) as a 10.

Dr. Jossart is so wonderful. Very kind and caring. Answered all of my questions thoroughly. Made sure I understood all of the risks. He performed my VG on 1/7/2005. I would highly recommend him. Great bedside manner. I had no complications.

<Font face="comic sans ms"><font size=3 color="ffffff">My Hubby and myself met Dr. Jossart on April 18th. He's a nice, good looking man. He explained the differences of the RNY and DS. I want the DS and he said he'd do what he could to make sure I got it. He was straight forward about the risk. He told me because of adheasions from previous stomach surgeries I am high risk And may end up spending a month in the hospital. I told him I am ready if that were to happen. God willing, all will go fine. From everything I've read and meeting him I feel comfortable in his hands. They have monthly support meetings. And I will be going to one soon

I'm now out and Dr Jossart was wonderful. Not to mention he's very good looking...lol
I saw him almost everyday if not him than Dr Feng or Cirangle. They were both very good too. Dr J. has a great bedside manner. One day he even brought his 2 year old son to check on me. I thought that was so sweet to have such a careing doctor and dad taking care of me.

Thanks Dr J for taking such good care of me!!

A very caring, gentle spirit who was involved in my well being from the start.
My impression only grew stronger, especially when I had the complications I experienced. His partner, Dr. Paul Cirangle also provided complete hands-on care while in the hospital. Again, I had MASSIVE complications that almost led to me dying, but Drs. Jossart and Cirangle led a team of doctors and nurses that took extremely good care of me and brought me back to life. I have to good extra kudos to the care provided by the ICU and the Medical/Surgical wards at the Pacific campus of the California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco. My aftercare is still ongoing two years later. I rate the entire team to be the best that you could possibly expect from your doctors. These men are absolutely super, I was incredibly fortunate to be under their care.

Very calm, knowledgable, realistic, straight-forward.
Impression changed over time - always remained professional.
Office Staff adequate.

What I liked least - not particularly personable.

Very much emphasised

monthly support groups

yes, thoroughly

I'm only one week out, so we'll see.

surgical competence is paramount. A bedside manner is gravy.

DR.JOSSART IS VERY NICE AND KIND.HIS STAFF IS REALLY GREAT.MY FIRST CONSULT WAS ALITTLE SCARY AFTER HEREING ALL THE COMPLICATIONS THAT CAN OCCUR. DR.JOSSART WENT STRAIGHT TO THE POINT AND DISCUSS EVERYTHING IN DETAIL.I'M ABLE TO REACH HIM BY PAGER AND EMAIL IF I HAVE ANY QUESTIONS.THERE WASN'T ANYTHING I LIKE LEAST ABOUT HIM. I WOULD RECOMMEND ANY PATIENT WHO IS INTERESTED IN HAVING THE SURGERY TO DR.JOSSART AND HIS COLLEAGUE.

HIS AFTERCARE IS WONDERFUL. THE CONSULT WITH HIM IS VERY DETAILED BEFORE SURGERY AND AFTER SURGERY.HE HANDS OUT A BOOKLET OF EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW. ANY QUESTIONS, ASK HIM. HE WILL GIVE YOU THE ANSWER.

When I first met Dr. Jossart he was great. He went through every surgery type very thoroughly. He helped me decide which surgery was best for me. He was a very nice doctor and was open to any questions. He provided me with a lot of information and I really feel like he will do a good job. My husband also liked the way he presented him self and gave us a good feeling about getting the surgery. He really emphasized a lot of after care of he surgery. You really need to watch yourself and take the vitamins so you don't lack vitamin efficiency. He wen't over all of the risks of surgery in detail. I understood everything very well. So far I would rate Dr. Jossart a 10.
