Brian seems to be truly interisted in what he is doing, not just for a pay check but seems to feel the pain of his patients. He was very thorough with me as he explained the procedure and was extrodinarily honest with his abilities to perform the surgery and his desire for me to be sucessful with this endevere.
Thanks Brian!
Dr Boe was a Godsend! He is extremly down to earth and really cares about his paitients. The first week I was home from the hospital I had really bad leg cramps. It was from lack of potasium. He called me 2-3 times a day every other day or so. I could not believe he actually called me and not a nurse. And, when I broke down and started crying..he was as gentle as a lamb. He really helped me get through this! He knows what he is doing and I can only say that I wish he was my primary care doctor. I would refer anyone to him!
Dr. Boe seemed to be very easy going but professional of course. He had a very good sense of humor which really helped put me at ease. His description of the surgical procedure seemed somewhat mechanical but I'm sure I would too if I reapeated the same thing day in and day out. The office staff at BTC really seem to go out of their way to make you feel welcome, comfortable and special too. I really expected more to be said about the diet afterwards but really not much was said. I did hear reference about a "big white binder" but nothing really about diet other than the first six weeks. I really liked Dr. Boe and his staff they were all very frank in their answers to my questions about risk and benefits. I really wish he would add something to this site as other surgeons from BTC have as far as his statistics go. There were several questions I had after my visit that probably could be answered in that way.
Dr. Boe seemed nice and informitive and very
understanding of my feelings. I thought he
might think I was overreacting to my wieght
and dismiss my feelings. Not so, he seemed to understand and care.
My impression of Dr. Boe has never changed. I
think he's very good.
His staff is very professional and helpful,
and cheerful. They seem happy to be a part of the team. They do everything as a team.
There wasn't one thing that I didn't like about him or them.
He's good at his job. He has a good bed side manner and he did a good job with my incission. It may have to be long, but its neat and a thin line. Its red now, but I can
tell in the future it will hardly be noticed.
Aftercare is verrrrry important to him. He
made sure that I understood what to expect both before and after surgery. He never assumed I knew what he ment, he explained
everything in detail and never acted put out
with my questions. He's patient.
I felt the aftercare program has been very
structured. The nutritionist has called twice
and made sure I'm doing okay and I have had
one checkup and soon due for another. I have
a note book from them with helpful information and I can call anytime day or night with questions.
The Doctor talked these over with both myself and my husband and answered all our questions. I felt and still do that the hope
for my new life out wieghts the risks.
Wonderful.
Both are great!!! I really have no negative
information about my Doctor or the Center I
had my RNY in and these are my own words. There were things I didn't like. Like having
to take off my toe nail polish and my ear
rings. I hated having to be last on the day of my surgery. But I was so scared in the opperating room before I was asleep, and I
had a Doctor and a Nurse holding my hand til I went to sleep. They were busy, but took the
extra time for me. So I can't say enough good about this caring team!
Dr. Boe was very confident and knowledgable and demonstrated this when I went to see him for my consultation. I was very impressed with his answers to my questions.
I had my pre-op last wed (1-10-01) and his staff are very kind and efficent. I like the way they treat you. Like a real person.
I was also impressed with all the tests they gave me and all the information they had for me to take home. They were very detailed in the question and answers. And took the time to answer any
concerns that I had personally.
I completely understand the risks of this surgery now and see that they take every precaution to prevent any problems. I feel very confident
with the staff now knowing they will be by my side preventing problems at all
times day or night.
After reading all the updates on this website concerning Dr. Boe I am confident he has the surgical knowledge and background to make me successful with this surgery.
The BTC staff is wonderful, and I am sure I will be as comfortable and professionally cared for as can be expected.
Dr. Brian Boe has been teriffic. He made me feel comfortable and reassured me all the way along. He likes to keep the mood up beat and is always very positive. He is good at responding to questions I have and responds quickly. He is well liked by the nurses and the staff at the BTC. I see why, he makes everyone feel important and let's me know that this is something I can get through and that the results will be worth all this. I would recommend him to anyone!!
my first impression of DR. Boe was pretty good. he was very relaxed and confident whichi really impressed me. the program at BTC is very structured and to tell you the truth my primary concern is having the surgery so far from home. He addressed the surgical risk and was honest but not alarming. His bedside manner was very reasurring. My husband was with me and Dr. Boe was very good at asking him if he had any questions or concerns
I met with Dr. Boe. He was very personable. I previously (last year) had met with Dr. Schlessinger and was supposed to met again with him but had to reschedule my appointment due to the blizzard we had. Well, I am glad I did. Dr. Boe was humorous and not all reserved or "robotic." I am looking forward to having my surgery done by him.
Dr. Boe was very pleasant. He was very knowledgable about the process. He would stop and ask if I or my husband had any questions. I think we made his early afternoon. Some of the things we said made him laugh. He explained the success rate of this surgery at Belvidere and that no deaths had occurred. I explained that I recently had a blood clot and he said they would probably bring me in a couple of days early and put me on a heparin drip and I would be on the high risk list and watched very carefully. That made me feel good.
He told me what to expect after I came out of surgery and how they get you up, and about the dietician who explains your new eating habits. He also told me about my check ups and about the amount of weight I should lose once the surgery is done.
The staff was really nice. My counselor, May Hoffman, had bariatric surgery Feb of 1999. May showed me her picture and I swear it is not the same person who was talking to me and telling about the surgery to come.
