First impression was that he presented himself as a quiet, respectful, professional
though caring physician. Both my husband and
I liked him immediately.
That impression remained. The office and staff are casual and welcoming; pleasant and
kind.
The question of what I least like is not a good one for me, it speaks of negativity, and I tend not to lean in that direction. There truly was not anything to not like about Dr. Vanguri, his staff, or his office.
I believe from what I have experienced so
far that they are genuinely caring people.
I think that future patients should know that he has a rather sterling reputation, and
go to him expecting that they will be treated
as well as those who went before.
Yes, he has a structured after care program; I understand the support meetings he recommends are attended by Dr. Vanguri as well as his clients. I applaud his effort to
be out there helping his patients when many
other doctors would find other things to do with their free time.
He expects monthly visits after surgery as
well as the B-12 shots. He expects you will
follow his instructions for you; doing so will assure you of the best outcome, something he wants for us as much as we want
it for ourselves.
He did emphasize the need to follow the after care directions clearly and concisely.
Yes, he addressed the risks of the surgery.
I even asked about the mortality rate and he
said it is .05%.....which seems realistic to
me. I am willing to take that chance with
a doctor of Dr. Vanguri's calibur; I trust him and believe that he is knows his ability
and will follow through in such a way that
I don't have to fear side effects or loss of
life. I trust him to do his best, and I will
be alright.
I rate his with excellence overall. I have done a good deal of research and his name has
come up time and again, and he is well loved
by his clients and trusted. Isn't that what
we all want in our doctors? Having met him,
I understand the trust that other men and
women have placed in this quiet, gentle,
intelligent physician. Otherwise,I would not
be willing to have him operate on me.I feel I
must trust a doctor prior to having him/her
do any type of procedure on me, as it all comes together for the best outcome if all
things are optimal at the time of surgery.
As an RN who has seen a good deal of patients
wheeled into surgery and then come out to cope with either the after affects of a good
surgeon or one that was not so good, I know
that competence means so very much. A good
bedside manner is wonderful, too. If we can
get both, we are a double winner. In Dr.Vanguri, I believe we are double winners.
I am so glad my friends recommended him to me
and that the opinions of other "new internet"
friends also were wonderful reports on Dr. Vanguri, his nursing staff, as well as the hospital where he operates.
MY FIRST IMPRESSION OF DR. VANGURI WAS THAT HE WAS VERY QUIET AND SOFT SPOKEN. I LIKED THE ASY HE DID THE CONSULT. WE WERE IN A GROUP OF ABOUT 6 OTHER PEOPLE AND HE EXPLAINED THE DIFFERENT SURGERY. THIS WAY WE WERE ABLE TO HEAR THE ANSWERS TO OTHER PEOPLES QUESTIONS AS WELL AS OUR OWN. HIS OFFICE STAFF IS VERY HELPFUL AND CURTIOUS AND ONE OF THEM HAS EVEN HAD SURGERY. HE SEEMS TO BE VERY THOROUGH AND HE HAS A MONTHLY SUPPORT GROUP WHICH I THINK IS WONDERFUL. HE IS SOON STARTING TO PERFORM THE SURGERY LAPROSCOPICALLY. THAT'S WHAT I'M SHOOTING FOR HE HAS BEEN PERFORMING IT OPEN FOR 22 YEARS.
When I met Dr. V. I was totally impressed with his staff as well as with him. Since my surgery 9 months ago, I have really gotten to know all of them and the whole office is wonderful. They know what they are talking about because this is all that they do. The only thing I don't like is that sometimes, because of his popularity, things get really busy and I have to wait. This is not too often though. Future patients should know that it takes a while to get in to see him, but eventually it is worth it. Dr. V. definately has a structured aftercare program, and if you have any problems, his office is quick to call you back. Dr. V explained everything, risks, what to expect, how long we would be down; etc. I give him a AAA+ rating. He came to see me everyday in the hospital, his surgical competency is out of this world. He makes you feel like your his only patient. He takes time to listen to you and address all of your needs.
Dr. Vanguri seems very nice. He is quiet, but willing to answer questions. He has small groups come in for initial consultation. That was fine, some people ask questions that are of interest to others. Also, it seems like a better use of the doctor's time than to go through the whole discussion for every patient. There is a support group that meets monthly. Dr. Vanguri said he has done almost 1000 bypass surgeries. The office staff is very nice, friendly and helpful.
I can't say ENOUGH great things about Dr. Vanguri. I will say he is a man of few words, but so down to earth and so easy to talk to and ask questions. And MOST improtantly he is so experienced in his field. That was the most important thing to me, his excellent reputation and record. He repaired an umbilical hernia, removed my gallbladder and did my OPEN RNY in less than 2 1/2 hours, I couldn't believe it. He knows what he's doing and has a great team he works with. I also can't say enough about Bev and Connie at the office. They are the BEST, they are very busy and sometimes you have to wait a few hours to get a return call, but they ALWAYS call you back and ALWAYS follow-up. Bev has had the WLS herself and is so wonderful to talk to and so experienced. yes they do have a structured aftercare program, every month for the first 12 months. I really can't say enough wonderful things about the surgeon and the office staff. They are so busy and swamped, but well worth the WAIT!!!!
I think Dr. Vanguri is awesome! When I first met him, my impression is that he is very quiet but will answer any questions that you have and take his time doing so.
He is very caring and his goal is not the weight from an insurance chart but for you to feel better and gain better health. I have a lot of respect for that line of thinking.
I highly recommend him to anyone considering having surgery!
As I said in my profile I had my consultation with Dr. Vanguri on Feb 25. His staff is very friendly and efficient. I guess they would have to be in order to keep up with all his patients. Dr. Vanguri himself was great. I liked him right from the start. He didn't talk down to me and when he explained the surgery and everything that goes with it to the 5 of us he used normal english. In other words he explained things so we could understand. I only wish I would have taken my husband so he could have heard too.I came there pretty sure I wanted the surgery and left there knowing I want and need it. I did cry on the way home though only because of the long time in between visits. My physical isn't until May 15. I know he is very busy though.
Dr Vanguri's staff have been very helpful and cooperative. He adressed the risks and what we could expect from the surgery. My surgery date is 10/8/01.
I am now 5 1/2 months post-op, Dr vanguri and his staff have ALL been wonderful. They are attentive, caring and truly supportive of your needs. I would recommend Dr Vanguri to anyone.
Dr. Vanguri has performed over 600 RNY surgeries. He is from India and specializes in the RNY. One thing that he has got going for him is the post op care of his pt's. I have done alot of research on the result AFTER surery and his pt's, if they follow his post op care the way he says, usually do not have any problems with being able to eat, have less ulcerations etc. He has a great office staff that will take the time to answer any and all of your questions. They is a monthly support group held at a local hospital here that he is in charge of. He doesn't have much of a sense of humor but over all, I had rather have surgical competence.
