My surgeon is wonderful. I have never met a surgeon that cares so much about his patients and I work in the medical field. Most of his office staff have had gastric bypass surgery and they are all willing to help anytime of the day you need them. He has a support group that meets every week and every other weekend. It is the best office I have had to deal with. I would not have my surgery done by anyone else. He also did my mothers surgery 7 years ago.
I have an appointment with him on 10/24/01 to discuss my surgery options. Will keep you posted. I have requested to be put on the cancelation list so I can see him sooner.
I have seen Dr. V twice so far. I really like him. He is very understanding and knows what he is talking about.
He was upfront with the risks of the surgery. He also stresses aftercare. He has a support group for before and after surgery.
Overall, I think Dr. V is a very good doctor.
Dr. Vanguri and his staff are very caring and helpful both before and after surgery. They were very thorough in explaining what was going to be done and exactly what I could expect. The office staff went above and beyond in their efforts to communicate with my insurance company and get my surgery approved. The only thing that I could possibly complain about is the distance I have to go for the office visits and support group meetings - about an hour each way. But I have to say, Dr. Vanguri is worth every minute of the drive. Both his surgical competence and bedside manner are great. I would recommend him to anyone within traveling distance of his office.
I am now 15 months post op, I have lost over 100 pounds and I just had my tummy tuck 3 weeks ago. I have gone from a 3x to a 6 and I feel great! Thanks Dr. V!!
Dr. Vanguri was really nice from the fisrt moment I met him. I think that he is a busy man, but he still will answer any questions that you have. His office staff was very helpful in getting my approval. I wish the surgery date was closer...but I would rather wait for someone in high demand rather than rush into the alternative.
I met with Dr v and he is very soft spoken and very nice his support meeting monthly are wonderful and teh chance to talk/meet other is really helpful. I went to a few of then b4 I even met with Dr v just to see how I liked the feel. he attends all meeting so I could a chance to talk to him and hear what he had to say before my first consult. The only thing that am I not crazy about it the size of the scar he will leave me and how far out everything is with him. I do think they are taking on more then they can right now and need to catch up so. I know that from beginning to end the whole process takes a good 7-8 months. Other theen that I have no problems with him. I love the support group he has once a month @ franklin Sq hosp. it helped me even b4 I had met with him. Being able to talk to other that either had the surgery or were about to or even just thinking about it was very reasuring that my disition was the right one.
bDr Vanguri is a soft spoken Indian man who gave the impression of someone who is maticulous and concise. I am under the impression that he is so organized because he is very busy. You can say he has a heavy case-load.
The office staff is great. They are very busy, see a ton of people (ha ha), but they make each person feel welcome and like an individual.
The thing I like least he cannot really control, but he is extremely busy! I wish i had been able to get the physical the same day as the initial consultation. However that is a month away and I know even after that and even if my insurance Co. says OK to the surgery, it will still be months before the actual surgery date. Hate waiting, but to change that he would have to turn people away, and that would be terrible.
There was a woman there who came all the way from Alexandria VA because her primary care said that DR. Vanguri is the only surgeon he would allow to do this surgery on her. Her primary told her he had 7 people in his care that had this done by Vanguri and they were all doing excellently, where as some other patients of his who had this done elsewhere were not doing as well.
Vanguri is all about after care. He insists that taking the suplements and coming to the follow up appts are critical to your health. For him this is more about gaining long term health rather than just losing weight. He also has monthly group meetings so people can meet, talk to and learn from patients who have had this surgery already.
Dr. Vanguri went over risks of surgery, after surgery risks and concerns, long term effects of surgery. He didn't leave any doubt that this surgery carries risks with it, but that he would follow us every step of the way and at no time would we be left to deal with any possible negative outcome alone.
I think he is an excellent surgeon who has dedicated his life to helping morbidly obese people live longer, healthier, happie4r lives.
I would love to have a brilliant surgeon who is also funny, charming with huge amounts of charisma, but in the real world, people who excell in some specific area, rarely have all of the above, they are human. I am willing to sacrifice the bed-side manner if the person holding the knife is good at what they are doing. I am confident that while Dr Vanguri isn`t doing stand up comedy for our amusement, he is good at being what he is, a surgeon.
Very kind and gentle doctor who seemed to care about his patients. After my husband and I met with him, my impression of him became even greater. He really has a heart for obese patients. The office staff there is very helpful and friendly and do everything they can to make you feel comfortable. There was nothing that I didn't like about Dr. Vanguri. Just know that he is very thorough and you may have to wait at times but it's well worth it. Yes, he has a structured aftercare program. He was very honest and upfront about the risks of the surgery. I would rate him as a 10.
Since I haven't had surgery yet, I can't tell you what his comptence or bedside manner is, only what I've heard.... and everyone says he is great. I have a lot of confidence in this doctor.
I really like Dr. Vanguri and think he has an impressive level of experience performing this surgery. The staff have been very friendly and Dawn always returns my calls no matter how many times I bug her. My problems is I have researched the surgery for a long time...i waited months for an appointment for a consult...My insurance company has approved me for surgery BUT...I'm going to have to wait about 5-6 more months until my surgery is scheduled!!! Help!!! does anyone know any other experienced surgeons that have support groups & a nutritionist that isn't so busy?? Do you Dr. V Post Op patients recommend that I wait the 5-6+ months???
On a scale of 1-10 ten being the best I rate Dr. V a 91/2. I was impressed when I learned that he attends support group meetings on a Sunday afternoon. He took his time and socialized after the meeting although his pager went off a couple of times he did not rush out of the meeting. I left before he did!!
