Dr. Vanguri was recommended by my Primary Care physician as the leading bariatric surgeon in our region. My initial impression was that he was very attentive and willing to take the time to answer even the dumbest questions.
Dr. V's office is run almost as a surgical assembly line. This was initially a turn off, but I came to realize that this approach to patient management is very effective, and allows Dr. V to help the most people. The principal nurses on his staff have had the surgery - and they are a uniquely invaluable resource. They stress from the beginning that you can call them with any question - pre-op or post-op. Dr. V's office provides all of the aftercare services that anyone will need.

I have met with Dr. Vanguri on several occasions, both in his office and at the monthly support group meetings. He is a quiet man but very knowledgable about this surgery. His office staff, tho extremely overworked, are exceptionally helpful and nice.

I have heard soo many good things about this doctor and his staff. Dr. Vanguri is a very patient man ...he took his time to explain every question. I also have a friend who had the surgery preformed by him. I am confident in my choice and now just need to wait for a surgery date! :0)

Dr. Vanguri was terriffic. He was very nice and caring. He has a very helpful staff. Anytime I call I get answers. He has aftercare and I see him once a month for follow up. He is a concerned doctor and wants to know how you are. He does not just rush you out of the office the get to the next person. He has excellent bedside manner. I rate him very high.

Dr Vanguri and his staff were great. They are very busy as well but organized. Organization is key to handling all the patients that go thru there and they always call you back. I have had no problems with my surgery (I am 2 months out) and no problems with my doc...he is great. He has saved my life.

Dr. Vanguri to me is a wonderful man who is upfront and direct. He made me aware of all the risk involved. His staff is also great because they will help you where they can and answer any questions you may have no matter how many times you may ask. There is nothing that I could possibly say about Dr. V. and his staff.

I had my surgery on March 4,2002 and I wore 328lbs. it is 5 months later and I have lost approximately 70lbs already. It felt good when I was able to ride on an airplane and did not have to use an extention. I, was able to get on all the rides at the amusement park and not be embarrased because i could not fit. It was really a joyful occassion. I would definately recommended this surgery to all that is obese along with recommending Dr. Vanguri and his terrific staff.

It is required that you goto all required appoitments and take all medications thats prescribed.

The only thing I can say is that his surgical competence and bedside manners while I was in the hospital, were all out of this world.

My first impression of Dr. Vanguri is a good one. His office staff very nice and has been very helpful with my questions.Aftercare is a very important step to recovery. You are required to attend a support group. During his exam he explained all the risks that are involved with this surgery. I am lucky that I am pretty well healthly except for my weight and I am just starting to have trouble with my knee and ankles. I like Dr. Vanguri,I have only met him twice and will meet again a week before surgery. I trust him with this surgery and I am very confident with him.

My decision to choose Dr. Vanguri was based
primarily on the comments I read on this Web
site. I read many, many, comments about doctors
in the Baltimore area and so many people made
positive comments about his staff and how
professional and responsive they are. I also
did not notice any complaints about post-operative
complications. Perhaps I missed them or forgot
them, but I recall other negative comments about
a few of the other doctors. My first impression
of Dr. Vanguri was positive. Although he conducts
the informational segment in a group setting, he
examines you individually and you do have time
alone with him (and his nurse). He was pleasant
and professional, and so was his staff. I felt an
immediate connection and confidence in him. I
can't explain it any other way other than a "gut
feeling"--no pun intended. I enjoyed the group
informational session because it enabled you to
hear the concerns and questions of other people
who may have asked something you didn't think of.
This also showed me that Dr. Vanguri is efficient.
This was the best use of his time. He provided
information to read before the session and illustrations
of each type of surgery and what it entails. He
appeared very straightforward about the risks of
surgery. I didn't feel like he was trivializing
or minimizing the risks. He's not Jay Leno or
David Letterman, but in the final analysis, I
would prefer surgical competence over bedside manner
any day.
