I enjoyed meeting Dr. Vanguri. He's patient and very kind. He has great mannerisms. His staff was nice and very helpful. I truly felt comfortable with him and his staff. I didn't feel any dislikes about him. He emphasized every aspect of the surgery. He even let me know that I will have to take vitamins everyday and get a
b-12 shot once a month for the rest of my life {something that I didn't know}. He talked about all the risks of surgery as well as the long term aftercare. He addressed the importance of exercise and the importance of being in the right mindframe for going through the healing process. I would highly recommend him to anyone in this area who is considering surgery. I feel confidence in his surgical abilities and enjoyed his mannerisms.

I wish I could get a surgery date. I had the approval snice Nov. 2002. Dr. Vanguri has a very nice personality, he show a personal interested in his patients. I went to the support group on 1/19/03 and Beverly and Dr. Vanguri was there, Dr. Vanguri took the time to explain the surgery in great details. I was very impress. He made me feel a little better about having the surgery. I am glad that he is the one that will be doing the surgery. THANK YOU DR. VANGURI.

I first visited Dr. Vanguri in the summer of 2000. My first impression was overwhelmed by the number of patients in the waiting area. (the words "cattle call" came to mind!) However, subsequently I found comfort in the sheer numbers because it proved he was very experienced!!!!Indeed he is, and my Gastro Dr. emphatically recommended THIS particular surgeon. He is well-respected among his peers as being an excellent surgeon and extremely thorough with follow-up care. His manner is comfortingly quiet and intense, and he answered all my concerns with sincere (not panned) comments. I also liked the fact that he custom sizes your pouch based on your eating habits. His staff is wonderful especially his front desk (thank you all).Talking to his patients gave me an even clearer opinion about the after-care and he certainly requires diligence from his patients. I had been to several other Bariatric surgeons and I feel much more confident in Dr. Vanguri. I hope this will help anyone who is considering Dr. Vanguri for the surgery.

Dr Vanguri was very informative and helpful from our very first meeting. He answered all my questions, and explained in great detail what would go on during the surgery, and what to expect afterwards. His office staff is very helpful.

My first impression of Dr. Vanguri was that he was a very nice and caring person. He explained everything in detail and was very helpful to both me and my husband. My opinion of him only got better over time which now I think he is the greatest. His staff is very nice, friendly and helpful to me and my husband. We both enjoy going to the meetings that are held once a month at the hospital which Dr. Vanguri and Bev both attend the meeting. Aftercare is really stressed so that you will have a positive outcome from the surgery. I would rate Dr. Vanguri and his staff a perfect 10 they have been nothing but wonderful to me and my husband throughout this whole venture. I feel that both his surgical competence and his bedside manner are both great. My physician's asst. did not follow up in a timely manner with my diabetes following surgery and I ended up in ICU for 5 days and Dr. Vanguri was there every day to see how I was doing and was very concerned about me. This incident had nothing to do with the surgery procedure it was a lack of communication on my physician's asstistant's part. I am fine now and off of insulin and doing wonderful. Thanks to Dr. Vanguri my lifesaver.

MY OPINION REGARDING DR.VANGURI--MY INITIAL APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULE FOR FOUR MONTHS AFTER I CALLED. FORTUNATELY, THERE WAS A CANCELLATION AND I ONLY HAD TO WAIT ABOUT 3 WEEKS. I'VE ONLY MET WITH DR. VANGURI ONCE. HE HELD AN INFORMAL INFORMATION SESSION WITH A GROUP OF SIX PATIENTS TO INTRODUCE US TO THE NATURE OF THE SURGERY AND ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS WE MAY HAVE HAD. AFTERWARD HE MET WITH ME INDIVIDUALLY AND DISCUSSED MY GENERAL HEALTH AND WEIGHT/DIET HISTORY. HE IS VERY PERSONABLE AND SEEMS GENUINELY INTERESTED IN WHAT YOU HAVE TO SAY. HE ALSO HAS A GOOD SENSE OF HUMOR IF YOU CAN GET PAST THE HEAVY ACCENT. THE OFFICE STAFF HAS BEEN VERY PLEASANT AND HELPFUL SO FAR. I CALLED THE INSURANCE COMPANY AFTER MY LETTER HAD BEEN SENT AND THEY HADN'T RECIEVED IT. SO IT'S IMPORTANT TO FOLLOW THROUGH YOURSELF JUST IN CASE.---MORE TO COME

I had my first consultation with Dr. Vanguri
in August 02 after waiting since May 02 for
an appointment. I was a little early for my
appointment to give myself extra time to find
his office, which I was told was a little
difficult to find. The directions were really
good, so I didn't have much trouble. I thought
his nursing staff were very compentent and pleasant.
After I was checked over by the nurses Dr. Vanguri
met with me and I had a short physical. He seemed
to be a very caring, competent doctor. I then went back out
to the waiting room and waited a short time and then
I was escorted with a small group to Dr. Vanguri's office
for his lecture/information about the surgery. I had already been to
another seminar so I knew about the surgery, but I learned
a few things from his lecture that I did not know. I got the impression
that he is very competent and knows exactly what he is doing. He took his
time answering questions too, which I liked. I was very pleased. He addressed the risks of
surgery very explicitly, but stated the complications in a manor in which
I was not overly concerned. I think he had both a great bedside manner and he seemed
very surgically compentent. He performed the surgery on my husband's cousin back
two years ago and she has lost 140lbs and is quite happy.
A few weeks after my initial visit with the doctor I received a copy of the letter sent to the
insurance company. It took about 4 weeks after the letter was received by my insurance
company for insurance approval. At about the 2 week mark I was contacted
by Dr. Vanguri's office because the insurance company wanted "proof" of all the diet plans
I have tried. I wrote a 5 page essay and submitted it to Dr. Vanguri. Two weeks later I was approved.
My surgery date is scheduled for 24 January 2003.

Dr. Vanguri was very nice. I am still new with him, so my impression has not changed. The office staff has answered any question I have ask of them.
11/26/02 I attended the Support group. The support group is part of the requirement to having Vanguri preform the surgery. He attends the meetings and one or both of the nurses conducts the meeting. I found that very comforting. He was there to answer any questions that you may have. He requires that you are seen by him for a year after surgery.

Dr. Vanguri is very personable. He has never made me feel like it is my own fault for being over weight. The office staff is great, they make you feel welcome and at home the first time you visit. The only thing I have found bad to date is that the office is very busy and it can be hard to get an appointment or just to get through on the phone to talk to someone.
