I was afraid Dr Choi would be stuffy. I am not sure why, I guess because I've been blessed enough not to have to deal with surgeons for myself, but I worked in an assisted living home, and accompanied one of the residents to the hospital when she had surgery. Her surgeon was a bit snobbish. But not Dr Choi. She was very friendly and down to earth!

She was very thorough in explaining the risks and the aftercare program. I have read nothing but great things about her, and have confidence with my life in her hands. She was very reassuring about some hurdles I have come across, and said not to worry. I can't say anything negative about her.

My Surgeon is Laura Choi and my first impression of her was focused and in tune to what my needs were. She is very to the point and her job is priority. I still feel that way, there was no mushy stuff that I probably needed, but she concentrates on what the task is at hand. After my surgery I did see more interns than her, but the contact that was received from her was awesome. She stops to listen and waited until I knew I was done with everything I thought I needed to say. I was getting a little bummed when they released me and no one called to say "Hey how are you?". That same day she called me and grilled me. It was also the first day that I really felt like total crap since having the surgery and she could tell right off the bat. Then she ananlyized it and walked me through most of it. I am grateful that the work that I did in reasearching her and Danbury Hospital paid off. I wanted to make sure that I had a great surgeron and a good hospital. From the first moment I met her and to this point I don't beleive that I have any problems that would relate to her, her professionalism or her skill. Their after care program so far has been find. I have not hit any stages yet so I will let you know more late.

I had been researching Gastric ByPass for over 7 years, and have met and/or been scheduled with 4 doctors previously. From the moment I walked into Danbury Hospital and met with Dr. Laura Choi, I knew I was in good hands. Here personality and knowledge and compassion are unbelievable. The office staff is sincere, and compassionate. She doesn't stray from her values, and you have to work the program before surgery is scheduled, too. Her Physician's Asst, Catherine Brown, is also an incredible asset to this group. Support Groups are held every third Wednesday and offer a variety of topics. I had just had surgery on 7/25 so I have not been to a follow-up support meeting as of yet. I returned to work 10 days after discharge and I don't suggest this for anyone really. Dr. Choi addressed all the risks of the procedure, the pain management after the procedure was amazing! The residents and interns were equally as compassionate, and all the mannerisms of the staff at this hospital are above ones expectations. If you are searching for a great team, please seek out Danbury Hospital's Center for Weight Loss Surgery. And believe me, you will never be happier.

I was referred to Dr. Patrick Reardon by a friend who is a nurse at Methodist hospital who has had a revision done by him. Dr. Reardon was running behind on the day of my consult but it ended up he spent a lot of time with me. He addressed all the pro's and con's and drew diagrams of everything! I have done my research and he has an excellent surgical record at Methodist.

Dr. Reardon is a very caring individual. His philosphy is one of doing the best he can for his patients. My impression of him has only gotten better over time. His staff is also very caring...but also very busy.
This is a team approach. He will do his best by you, however you must be willing to follow orders and do your best by him.

There is nothing I do not like about him.

After care is very important. After all, this surgery is only a TOOL.

Aftercare program is in progress of being built.
He goes over risks of surgery in great detail.

I rate him excellent.

All aspects of his care (competence, bedside manner) is EXCELLENT.

I know this may seem strange, but having talked with this surgeon's other patients, we all feel the same way---he is an excellent surgeon.

The only negative ( if you want to call it that) is that he is a very busy man. But he will stop and answer any questions you may have.

Dr. Turnquest is a very quiet man. Well mannered and to the point. He has a great bed side manner and never made me feel uncomfortable.

Dr. Turnquest was absolutely wonderful. Great bedside manner. He explained and diagrhamed everything for me. He explained all the risks involved quite well. He provided me with a post op diet and homecare instructions which included what to eat, what to avoid. All in all, my experience with Dr. Turnquest was smooth sailing. I highly reccommend him and would take him over anyone else. Great guy! I would definitely rate him a 10 on surgical competence and bedside manner. I don't believe there is anyone better. What else can I say?

My 1st visit was Dec. 7, 2004--He was informative and took the time to listen to me. He got me started on the other test right away. His staff was nice and told me they would get back in approx. 1 month. It happened almost to the tee.
It is now 1-18-05--they have not contacted me again but I am to pre-register on the 26th. I don't know what time or what to expect that day. After my pre-registeration I will get back in touch.

Had Surgery Dr, Choi walked me through as well as came to visit during my entire hospital stay. the other team members did also: Cathy B. & Mary Lou.
Dr. Choi is very honest and understanding. I stayed with a upset stomach most of the time in the hospital and she tried to make me as comfortable as possible.
excellent competency as well as bed side manner were strong not only with the Doctor but the team as a whole.
