I liked Dr T. from the very 1st meeting. He was very informative, and he felt I had done my research, before visiting him.
Office staff was not very good at 1st, but over time, they have become more efficient.
Make sure you follow up with any info you need. Hound the staff and insurance company if necessary :)
The after care was adaquate,I got most of my info from this site!
I didn't feel the aftercare was stressed to much. Most of the time, the desk nurses, need to check with the Dr.
This was 8 months ago, now when I go back to get weighed and follow up visits, they are much nicer and more attentive. I feel Dr T is wonderful, and have recommend him to all of my co-workers that want to have RNY surgery.
Competant surgeon with a sweet bedside manner.

My first impression of Dr. Turnquest is that he is a very warm and caring person. He listened to me and answered all my questions during my initial visit. He has a quiet way about him that is very comforting. I am impressed with his office staff as they are professional but friendly and prompt in returning my calls. As I was waiting for my initial visit, I listened to other patients' comments about Dr. Turnquest -- their comments were very good concerning surgeries he performed other than wls. I think future patients would perceive Dr. Turnquest in the same light -- fair and balanced. I will meet with Dr. Turnquest 5/1/03 before my surgery on 5/5/03. I think everything is important in a doctor -- surgical competence as well as bedside manner.

Dr. Turnquest seems like a nice Dr. I have only seen him once. I have been approved and I will see him on the 17th of March. I guess I'll find out. His staff have been wonderful my insurance went wonderful and was approved within 3 months. He doesn't have an aftercare program which I wish he would have.
I will have surgery on March 31,then I will let you know of his bedside manners.

My first appointment with Dr. Turnquest was very positive. He listened as though he really cared what I had to say. Although scheduled in mid April for the procedure, I am very concerned about the aftercare support that does not seem to be in place. I am going to research and try to find a dietitian and a support group.

My first impression of Dr. Turnquest was great. He was so friendly and he made me feel very comfortable. His office staff is very busy and they try to help as best they can. They sometimes made me feel like they were too busy for my questions especially post-op. But I did get them answered. Dr. Turnquests aftercare is good. He basically told me to watch what I eat and told me of foods to be leary of. Every one is different so it is hard to say how one food is going to effect someone. For example, he said that many people have a hard time with milk. I don't. He doesn't really have a structured aftercare program and that might have been nice to have. He informed me of the risks of this surgery very fully. Overall, Dr. Turnquest himself is a great physician,he cares. His surgical competence and his bedside manner are both great. I was very comfortable with his knowledge and I always felt I was in good hands. The anesthesiologist I didn't care for much and her line that she installed through my throat left a scar on my nose but I suppose that comes with the territory and might not have been anyones fault. It might have just been an isolated incident. Like I said though, Dr. Turnquest is a great physician and I would recommend him to anyone.

My first impression of Dr Turnquest was very good. (I am a nurse and work with him and his pts. in the hospital that i work at. He was also recomended by a doctor that I highly respect. The only thing that I didn't like about his program is just that... he really doesn't have a formal program that was put together. He answers all of your questions, and he has hand outs and gives you all of the web sites that you can dream of, and referals to dietitians, and makes sure that you are mentaly ready for the surgery, but there wasn't a PROGRAM. He is a general surgeon who does WLS, so I guess he wouldn't have something like that like a surgeon who just does WLS. But He really cares for the person as a whole, not like some number. He takes the time to get to know you, and make you feel very comfortable. He strongly emphasizes aftercare, diet, and hospital care. Dr Turnquest really dove deeply into risks, complications, medications and everything that goes with the surgery. I rate him, on a scale of 1 - 10, 10 being the best, a 9. Dr Turnquest has more surgical competence then bedside manner, but his bedside manner is good.
