I got to meet Dr. Jeffery Allen on May 4. My friend Angie and I went together. Angie and I are lap band sisters. We work together and since Angie has moved into my building we have become good friends. We were not familar with the parking situation and fed the meter. Dr. Allen was in surgery and was late getting there. We almost got a parking ticket as the meter was on zero when we returned to the suv. Luckily the red flag had not popped up but many surrounding cars received tickets. We found out about the $4 valet parking and will certainly use it next time.

We both thought Dr. Allen was friendly and was informative. I compiled two list of questions so Angie and I could have quaility time with him and not ask the same questions so we could discuss on the way home. His bed side manner was nice and I was glad to hear that they would work with me to try to meet my schedule. We both thought the video was outdated and could have been better, that may of been because I have read and read information on the internet almost daily.

Dr. Allen is a great surgeon and a very nice man. He is very professional and compasionate to his patients. He stays very busy and in high demand. His office staff are nice, but sometimes slow because they stay so busy. He addressed the risks of surgery with me so well that I knew ahead of time what to expect. I had a lap RNY and have not had any problems at all. I have never regreted having this surgery and would have it again in a heartbeat (but only if Dr. Allen was my surgeon). I would rate Dr. Allen the BEST overall and recommend him to everyone although the waiting time is over a year to get in to see him for first visit.

I thought he was a kind, caring man. He wasn\'t cold, he was very warm, wasn\'t afraid to touch your arm etc. He was frank about the risks and benefits. He explained each proceedure, let you see videos. I liked that it was one on one not a group session. He totally talked about aftercare. He told me, without me asking, that he hasn\'t lost a patient but he has had several with severe complications, Not necessarily due to surgery but with diffrent body types and ability to handle surgery etc. So far I would rate him an 8. his surgical competence i cant say yet but bedside mannor seems great. I have had my second appt. with him, and we set a date. I had all the other stuff done so i didn\'t have to weight. I am very confident he can handle this. He and his staff are great, and very helful. He talked about the risks a second time just so I would know.

Iv\'e had surgery My new rating of him is a 10. He and his team take excellent care of you. I reccomend him highly. He has a cheery disposition, which I love. The people who make appt\'s. for his office need some work, but his nursing staff is great as well as his interns, and residents.

I STILL RATE HIM A 10. He is a great man, funny too. I appreciate that in a dctor. His nurses are great, but that clerical staff is a mess. I bet he doesnt know how many times they have screwed up my appointments. I trippled checked with them the last time I was there. I got a bit mean. and for that i apologize, just was frustrated. but all in all hes the best.

HE IS A NICE MAN.
OVER TIME I LEARNED MORE AND HE ANSWERED ALL MY QUESTIONS.
AS FAR AS OFFICE STAFF THEY ARE GREAT. THEY ARE SO BUSY. BUT THEY DO A GREAT JOB.

DON'T BE AFRAID TO SAY ANYTHING TO DR. ALLEN HE WILL LISTEN AND HE WILL BE THERE.
I AM IN AFTER CARE NOW. I FEEL THE SAME HE IS A GREAT DOCTOR, I GUESS THAT IS WHY NOW THERE IS OVER A YEAR WAITING LIST TO GET AN APOINTMENT.
RISKS, HE GAVE ME THINGS TO READ, TOLD ME ABOUT WEB SITES AND HE TALKED TO ME. I FEEL HE LEFT NO STONE UNTURNED.
ON A SCALE FROM 0-10 AND 10 AT THE TOP I WILL GIVE HIM A 15.

I HAD SOME PROBLEMS AFTER THE SURGERY HE WAS RIGHT THERE ON TOP OF THE PROBLEM...

I was originally scheduled to have surgery with Dr. Gomez on January 13, 2003. My employer chaged insurance carriers at the beginning of the year just days before my surgery. Accordingly it was cancelled. I now am seeing Dr. Jeff Allen in Louisville, KY. The good news is that I really liked him and felt very comfortable with him. I have had my two pre-op appointments with him. I am currently waiting for approval from the insurance company. Unfortunealtely all my information was submitted to my prior insurer even though I had supplied the new information in person, by mail, and by Fax. I have resent the information and hope that it has been submitted to the correct insurer, though I have had no confirmation to date. Everyone is very pleasant. It has just been one of those unfortuneate delays that happens with these kinds of things.

I feel extremely confident in his ability as he has been part of the clinincal trials on the Lap Band procedure and did his fellowship on laproscopic surgeries in Australia. I really like his personality and think his "bedside manner" will be terrific.

I met with Dr. Allen yesterday. He, like all of his staff that I have delt with, is very nice, professional, and knowledgable. He explained the different types of surgery that he offers and the risks associated with each and answered ALL the questions I had. He did not seem rushed despite me being there as the last appointment of the day. He spoke to me at the level of understanding that was appropriate for me. I feel very confident in his abilities. He even displayed a great sense of humor that was reassuring. The only negative I see is that it took forever to get in for the first appointment. Okay, so now I am on "the other side". Dr. Allen is AWESOME. I was in the hospital for 8 days and he came and sawme EVERY day, even when he had told me not to expect him and he would be sending one of his partners in to see me, I saw the partner and him!!! At my 2nd post op visit I was upset and crying because I had not lost as much as I thought I should have. He was very patient with me and sat down and showed me the graph that they had plotted for my weight loss and that I was ahead of where they had expected me to be. He still takes the time to answer every question I ask and the last visit my son went with and he answered my son's questions too! I don't think I could have chose a better surgeon if I had interviewed thousands of them!!!

Dr. Allen is a great surgeon,he makes sure you know what the surgery is all about and answers any of your questions. His staff is great, he has a great bedside manner and he seems to be very careful in all he does after the surgery. Fills etc. I have never had a bad experience with Dr. Allen myself the only bad thing is i have to travel 7 hours to see him

Dr Alen is wounderful. He is very talented. He has had much success with banding patients with a very high BMI, where other surgeons will not even try. He was one of the original doctors included in the FDA clinical trials, and teaches other surgeons how to place the band. He also used to do the procedure in Australia before it was approved in the US, I would highly reccomend Dr Allen to anyone.

My first impression of Dr. Allen was that he truly understood my weight problem and the emotions I felt about myself in regard to it. It's almost like I could just "cut to the chase" with him. He is compassionate, caring, professional and direct. There really isn't anything offhand that I don't like about him. His staff is also very professional even though they are terrifically busy. I am a self-pay so I didn't deal with them very much except to pay and schedule appointments. He gives a very thorough seminar on the pros and cons of both by-pass and banding surgeries which he performs. The aftercare program is not the greatest, or at least it wasn't for me because I'm not sure at the time what it consisted of. They may have one in place by now. I think his bedside manner and surgical capability are both supurb.

I like Dr. Allen very much. He is a very nice guy and a great doctor. I am pleased with my surgery and the care I received.

I do hear that his practice has grown quite busy. There are others in his practice that are not quite as busy.
