Peachtree Surgical and Bariatrics Bariatric Center
Dr. Duncan is a very confident surgeon who has had much success and his mortality rate is much lower than the national average. The staff is very helpful and always willing to answer questions. His team is very supportive both before surgery and they have a lifelong care plan for after the surgery. He is very upfront about the risks and possible complications. He is also very up front in telling you what you have to do to be successful.
My First impression of Dr. Duncan he was a man that knew his business. Its nothing more to have a Doctor that know's his profession in and out. Dr. Duncan is well known in Atlanta it seems everywhere I go I can hear people talking about him. His staff is wonderful even though sometimes when you call they are always answer in a rush. But that is because they are trying to answer everyone questions and concerns. They do stop and give you there time and attention..
I have not officially met Dr. Duncan yet, but my impression is that he is very upbeat and positive. The office staff is very courteous, and they have been helpful and cooperative. I have a rather strange insurance situation, but I have an insurance case manager with whom they are working. I'm keeping an eye on it, but I believe they are being pro-active about helping secure approval.
So far, the experience has been better than I expected. Of course I'm anxious to get approval and a surgery date, but waiting makes the final realization worthwhile. Where there is no struggle, there is no strength.
Dr Duncan held the seminar I was required to attend and I liked him a lot. He was knowledgeable and funny, and yet very serious about what he does. I am scheduled for surgery on September 22 and I have yet to meet Dr Duncan or one of his two other surgeons in the practice. I have been examined by Dr Speights at the first office visit and was examined by Dr Fields, their Bariatric nutrionist, at my pre-surgery visit on September 17,2004. I really expected to see one of the surgeons, but was told that is not the case. The staff is GREAT, but they can't keep up with faxes-they never get them unless I personally call the person on the phone and ask them to stand by the phone and I fax them whatever they need from the other doctors I had to see before surgery. They have a aftercare program, but I am not there yet--I will be in a few days. I think Dr Duncan is great, and my only regret is that I do not get to pick the actual surgeon--it's just whichever one is there at the time--Not good, because Dr Duncan is why I am there. I believe surgical competence is more important than anything, but bedside manner is also important.
Well, WISH ME LUCK!
Great personality and wonderful surgeon. I would recomend him highly to anybody! His staff and the hospital stall were also wonderful. The only thing is that he has many surgeons working with him and you don't know for sure which one will be doing the actual surgery.
Have only seen him speak to a a large group. He spoke about bariatric surgery, told jokes and guieded a power point presentation showing an actual laproscopic surgery. My pre-op appointment is Dec 2.
My first impression of Dr. Duncan was that he was very knowledgable in this field. His seminar was quite informative. After the initial seminar I did not see Dr. Duncan again, instead I saw his associate Dr. Norman. Most of his office staff was very helpful and informative. The Physician's Assistant (female) was quite the unprofessional though.
Aftercare program is offered.
The risks of surgery were well explained.
Surgical competence was way better than bedside manner.
