I thought he was pretty quiet but to the point and seems to know what he's doing. He answered any questions that I had and fully explained the procedure. I haven't had too much interaction with him but I think I will be very happy with him as my surgeon. I love the staff and have no complaints. I think they have a very good nutritionist. Very thorough and makes it very clear the importance of continued after care and good nutrition. I haven't had the surgery yet so I can't say a great deal about Dr. Anez's bedside manners. I have heard nothing but good things about him and the staff.

Dr. Anez was very warm and friendly. It's a little too early to answer your questions because I have only met with him for the iniitial consultation to see if I would be a candidate for gastric bypass surgery. This is what I can offer so far... Dr. Anez's office was packed with people when I arrived in mid-afternoon. Unfortuanely his physician's assistant was home sick so he saw all her patients as well as his own, so...the wait was long but worth it. His staff was very friendly and concerned about everyone in the waiting room having to wait so long. When it was my turn they weighed me and led me into Dr. Anez's office. He introduced himself and had a booklet he put together, to go over with me explaining the procedure, etc. We really didn't chat about why I wanted the surgery or if I was a candidate, etc. He just looked at my chart full of information I had filled out in the waiting room, and jumped right into explaining the surgery. He was very explicit and drew diagrams and asked several times if I understood what he was showing me. He also said my insurance company usually answered quickly as to whether or not I would be a candidate for surgery. AND, he was right! Less than two weeks from my appointment I received a call from his office with my date of surgery!
I haven't gone back to meet my dietician yet. This is just the beginning. I have a surgery date of March 11, 2003.

I've heard great things about Dr. Anez, so I'm confident about his surgical abilities. I had my consultation with him in October. He was patient with my questions and he seemed kind. I did have one issue with his staff though that really upset me. My surgery was originally scheduled for 2\26 and I had my 90 day tests done. I was preparing myself mentally for that date. Then last week I get a call from one of his office staff members saying it had been rescheduled for January 31st. I explained to her I was moving in Jan which is why I postponed my surgery until Feb. This person devastated me by telling me that Dr. Anez would be out of town when my original surgery was scheduled and that I would have to wait until late March if I couldn't do it in Jan. Things happen though and it's not a huge deal to wait another month, it just would have been nice to get an apology or sympathy from his staff. I was worried I'd have to do my tests again(the upper GI was horrible) but I got off the hook with that thank goodness. I like Dr. Anez's record and like I said, have heard great things about him, so there's no one else I would trust.

Dr. Anez was very nice. He explained the procedure in detail and answered all of my questions. I felt VERY confident in his abilities. He also seemed to have a sense of humor--I must have been the first patient to ask if he would take pictures of my "insides" during surgery (the answer was "no" but at least I asked!) The next time I saw him was on the date of my surgery. He made me feel very comfortable. He visited me once after the surgery and encouraged me to do well in my weight loss endeavors. I haven't seen him since then.

Dr. Anez's office staff is SUPERB!! I bugged them a lot because I had problems with my insurance approval. They worked with me and gave me advice and encouragement.

Future patients should know that Dr. Anez comes across as businesslike, but he really does care about his patients.

After-care is STRESSED by everyone in the office. There is a structured after-care program. I have not participated in much of it because I live about 120 miles from his office. I enjoy talking to the patients in the waiting room at his office--everyone is eager to share their stories!

Dr. Anez went over all the potential risks for the surgery. He had a handout that he went over with you. You had to take it home and study it and come back with any questions. All the risks were very well defined and explained in laymans terms.

Dr. Anez is an excellent physician. I would rate him highly on both surgical competence and bedside manner. If I remember correctly, Dr. Anez perfected the RNY procedure so the incision is only about 3 inches long!! Not bad.

He does not have great bedside manner, but is very good at explaining details of the surgery.

Office staff was wonderful, especially Margaret, who I believe is no longer there. She was a great help with insurance approval, etc. and always returned calls in a timely manner.

He could have been a little more friendly.

He stressed coming to all of my follow-up appointments and having lab work done as needed, but that was about it.

Not really a structured aftercare program. There is a support group that I attended a couple of times, which was helpful.

I wasn't too concerned about the risks of surgery because I felt the risk of my staying obese was death...what could be worse than that?

I would rate Dr. Anez as an excellent bariatric surgeon.

Both are great, but I would prefer surgical competence to bedside manner if I had to choose. Who would want a nice Dr. who screws up their surgery?

Dr. Anez is very nice and very thorough. He answered most of my questions before I even got to ask them. He explained the whole procedure and what to expect afterwards. It was neat to see previous patients before and after pictures in albums on the table. It was amazing to sit in a seat that you weren't squeezed into. I would recommend him to anyone. I am eager to get my surgery date soon.

My first impression of Dr. Anez was a good one. He's quiet and reserved yet very amicable. The longer I see him the more I realize he genuinely cares for his patients. His office staff is very friendly but also overworked. They do their best to make their patients' comfortable in their small office space with very LARGE comfy chairs. Sometimes the appointments run an hour late but that just proves that the Dr. and his Assistant spend whatever time is necessary with their patients. While waiting most people chat and discuss their weight loss journies; it's definitely a good experience. Dr. Anez emphasizes aftercare quite a bit, starting with monthly visits to eventual yearly visits. He addresses the risks of surgery during the first office visit. Overall, I rate him and his staff as excellent and highly recommend him to anyone seeking weight loss surgery. His surgical competence is excellent as evidenced by his low-rate of complications and his bedside manner is also great! He grows on you as time goes on and he encourages you even if you've had a difficult month.

My first impression of Dr. Anez was that he was funny. I was a little aprehensive about meeting him because I had heard he didn't have a bedside manner but when I met him, he totally shocked me.

The office staff was great! Before I left, they wanted to get some pics of me and I asked if Dr. Anez would take one with me and the staff said he doesn't do that but he did. He came over to me and we took my frontal shot pic, together.

Everything was explained to me in detail. I don't know what I was expecting when I went there, maybe I was expecting a drill sergeant but what I got was a gentle man who took care in providing me all the information I asked.

My first impression of him was that he was extremely smart and extremely quiet.
He is very calm and very reassuring. He's wonderful.

It only got better and better every time I meet with him, and especially his staff.
They are all great

WONDERFUL, especially Maria, and Marisol.

Nothing

He will be there for you every step of the way. He's done so many of these
procedures that he is an ALL STAR.
A lot

Yes, and great support group.

By taking time to explain in depth each one.

He is very quick and thorough. He is straight to the point. He is very caring and gentle. I like him more and more each time i see him. His staff is awesome, very nice caring and helpful. I liked everything about Dr. Osvaldo. Future patients should be prepared and ask questions. He tells you everything, but does not go too indept. He is a great aftercare advocate. You must see his nutritionists before and after surgery. He wants his patients to come to him at least 1 year after surgery, he would prefer for life. Yes his aftercare program is very structured. He tell us about all the risks, but it does not hurt to have done your research. I rate him a 10. I would prefer both , but if i had to choose, surgical competence. I was quite pleased that Dr. Osvaldo had both!
