My first impression of Dr. Anez was very positive. He was very warm and put me at ease immediately. He explained the surgery thoroughly, using a diagram and colored pencils. He has a good sense of humor as well. He office staff is very friendly, personable and efficient. They are also very supportive and responsive. His office is oversized friendly. His chairs are so large that I had room left over even after I put my purse beside me. Lots of photo albums with before & ater pictures line a coffee table in the waiting room. This is very inspirational. He also has a very good pre-care and after-care program which includes a monthly support group meeting. This is very important. He emphasizes the fact that he will be your doctor for life. He was very upfront about the risks involved with surgery and the importance of following his instructions after surgery. I would rate him a 10.
Dr Anez seems like a nice person. My meeting with him was short but i didn't feel rushed. he explains the procedure and what he want you to do for aftercare. He was alittle hard to understand because of his accent. I feel he expects his patients to be responsible people. He won't hold your hand through the ordeal of surgery but if you know this is for you he'll give you all the resources you need to make it through. Over all I liked him. He seemd very confident in his surgical skills. The office staff was very nice dispite the fact they were so busy. The only issue I have is that the waiting room is so small! I had to wait in the hospital hallway.
I thought he was clear and to the point about the surgery. He staff was polite and seemed very freindly. He was funny, that made me at ease, with the process. Still neveress about the surgery.
I chose Dr. Anez because my orthopedic surgeon highly recommended him. I had already researched doctors who did gastic surgery, and Dr. Anez was on my short list, but the orthopedist so warmly praised him that I went to see Dr. Anez.

So far I've seen the doctor once in the office. He was very professional and thorough. He explained the proceedure I would have, and carefully explained the risks. He gave me a booklet on the RYG surgery. I had read a lot on this and other websites, so I did not have any questions, which he seemed to accept. (I'll have some when I see him next, thanks to the message boards here, and his booklet!)

I saw the doctor several times in the hospital. He first came to see me when I was in the pre-op preparation room, just to say hi and to tell me he'd be ready for me very shortly. Then, after the surgery both he and his assistant, Maria, dropped by every day to say hi. The only day I did not see him at the hospital was Saturday, the day I checked out. However, Maria still dropped by.

So far when I've had a check-up, I see Maria. She's terrific, very warm and friendly. She always answers all my questions, and thinks about what I am saying. I never feel rushed at all.

The staff certainly is competent. My paperwork went straight to the reviewing nurse at the insurance company. The staff had faxed the papers to the nurse who does precertification, skipping over the normal intake people. I thought that was great. It also explained why the insurer said they did not have the papers, but the office said they did.

The doctor and his staff are beyond reproach. I had the surgery in 7/02 and have had nothing but good experiences with the entire process. The Doctor was friendly and his visit with the surgical staff just prior to surgery was very calming. He has an incredible amount of experience with this surgery and I was in and out in about 45 minutes. I'VE WAITED LONGER AT JIFFY LUBE THAN THAT!! They really emphasize after care and they work well with Primary Care Doctors. Overall, an real Gem in a field of gravel.
My first impression of Dr Anez was great, he mad me feel as if I were the only one. He asked me why I wanted to have the surgery, and told me yes, he could help me. I haven't been to my second appointment yet, so other than the first visit with him which was a pleasant one I can't tell you anymore about him. His office was really busy, I had an appointment at 2:00 but didn't actually get to see him until after 3:00. During my wait I got the opportunity to meet people who have had the surgery and those who were getting ready to have the surgery, it was great! I met someone in there who was having her surgery the following Thursday, she gave me her number and I've been in contact with her every since. I think anyone would just love Dr. Anez and his staff it's all worth the wait. I really wasn't told a lot about the aftercare and the risk of surgery I found out a lot of information by going to their website and looking information up for myself.
Initial consultation was February 10th, 2003. The meeting with Dr. Anez went very quickly. He seemed to be impressed with my printed documentation, including diet history, family history, medical contacts, emails from the PCP with blood tests etc. When he found out I was a computer programmer, we actually spent a couple of minutes discussing their office computers and network, and the office website. That's OK. I don't mind talking shop. The discussion of the surgery itself went very quickly. I only had a few questions because of my previous research.
I love Dr. Anez and his entire staff. They have saved my life. He's the best!
