Grand Health Partners Bariatric Center
James A. "Jamie" Foote is a new surgeon. He is taking his boards in October for the bariatric physician certification. Dr. Foote is a graduate of Hope College and received his graduate degree from Grand Valley State University in Human Anatomy and Microbiology before attending medical school at Wayne State University School of Medicine. Dr. Foote completed his residency in Grand Rapids through Michigan State University. He completed his fellowship in Surgical Critical Care at Spectrum Health through Michigan State University. He has done 100 surgeries with Dr. Scholten, and 50 with the practice he is at now, MMPC Center for Health Excellence. Although he is a new doc, he has made a committment to bariatric surgery as his career. He is confident of his abilities as a surgeon. He will have an experienced surgeon as a backup, either actually assisting, or in the hospital available in case he has trouble.
my first impression of Dr. Foote, is "he is really young!" that could be a good thing and it could be a bad thing. After talking to him, he does have experience with a very good doctor, but, not much experience on his own.
I talked to another patient who thought he was wonderful and his youth was a strenth, e was more cautious. Today I came home from my surgery, just 1 day post-op. Dr. Foote was great. He was able to do my surgery lap. and that made me very happy. He came to visit me 3 seperate times even though I was only in the hospital for 1 1/2 days. He was a very good listener, and I would recommend him to anyone who asks. He also has a good sense of humor, which I believe is important. It has only been 1 day but I can't believe how good i feel already. thanks Dr. Foote!
My first impression was very good and I have come to learn that he is very educated in Bariatric surgeries. He and the office staff are on top of all aspects of your medical history.

My first impression of Dr Baker was excellent and still is wonderful. I trust that he will do a great job! He answers all of your questions very thoroughy and tells you to call if you have anymore that he can answer. He seems very confident in doing the roux-en-y surgery.
His office staff so far have been very friendly and helpful.
12/13/02 Have had the initial consult. Have to say I was favorably impressed. As I am "on my own", I really want it to be a lap proceedure and he is willing to try, no guarantees. He was able to answer all of my questions, felt that he took time to listen and valued me as a person.
Dr. Baker is a kind caring man, who understands the importance of a healthy functing parent in the home. He is not judgemental or intolerant with issues related to the responsibilities of raising children. His staff was readily available on off hours for problems and my concerns. I am still ill after my procedure in May. I'm still having trouble but, he does all he can both medically and surgically to correct the problem.
Wow Dr Baker is a real nice guy. My Mom was with me and he answered all of our questions and was real positive. After talking to him I new I had made a good choice.
The staff is nice, MMPC is the name of the practice and everyone wants to make sure you know as much as possible about the pre op and the post op as well as your part in your own recovery...
I am very pleased so far :~)
Dr Baker and staff will get a 10 in my book
Well tomorrow is the big day. The office has done everthing well and I will let you know about Dr Baker next week.
Love and God bless.

I met with my surgon today and I am approximately 8-12 weeks pre-op. Dr. Foote was Very personable; serious and direct, but appeared genuinely concerned and sensitive to the needs of his patients. He took time to explain the procedure and it's risks as well as it's benefits. The office staff at MMPC is incredibly helpful and supportive! I met with Dr. Osbourne (Internist) first and was very impressed with her. She was down-to-earth and was even knowledgable about my blood disorder (which is rare..the doctor knowing anything about it, not the disease). The office has oversize chairs and exam tables for those of us who have yet to become formerly fluffy. I have to admit that I was leary of this practice, based mostly, I would imagine on the fact that Priority health referred me to them, but have been impressed more and more with every contact. There is a lot of planning involved and they appear to have a comprehensive after-care program.
Dr. Baker was very informative and was very helpful. I would recommend him.
The only problem I had was with the office staff. The biggest problem I had was with the person in charge of billing and I am not the only one. Office staff really needed to be more caring. The nurses were of great help as well.
In my opinion Dr. Baker had both great surgical competence and bedside manners.
