Grand Health Partners Bariatric Center
I have only met with the surgeon once, but he seemed very personable and caring. His office staff is wonderful (kind, caring, efficient). The pre-op program is very thorough starting with a 2 hour+ orientation (free).
I was refered to Dr. Foote beacause he assaisted with my mother surgery in the beinging of the year. He impresses me he remembers names of all his patients and cares even if he sees u in a waiting room and he comes and sees u before and after surgery.
10-28-02 - I met Dr.Foote this morning at MMPC in Grand Rapids, Michigan and feel that my surgery will be in capable hands. He was very professional as well as amiable, answered all my questions and explained what my entire process would consist of including possible complications.
I was very impressed with Dr. Foote at my consultation. He was very professional but very personable at the same time. I feel very comfortable with him doing the surgery. He is fairly new at doing the surgeries but has been trained by the best in Grand Rapids and worked alongside both Dr. Scholten and Dr. Baker. He was very thorough and made me very comfortable.I would rate his bedside manner a 10++. He also told me his mother in law had gastric bypass surgery.
post surgery........ what can I say? Dr. Foote is Wonderful!!! He takes every precaution and is very thorough. I am so glad I went with him even though he hasn't done a lot of surgeries yet by himself, he is sooooo competent!
I did not meet Dr. Baker until the day of my surgery. I had always seen his associates in his office. My first impression was a good one. I was prepped and in the pre-surgery holding area. He explained what was going to happen next and asked if I had any questions. After surgery, I believe that he checked in on me once. (Other doctor's also popped in occasionally.) Dr. Baker is very encouraging and wants what is best for his patients. The whole team at The Center for Weight Management in Grand Rapids has been great. They have a very structured program that their patients go through, not only to educate them, but to reassure them that they are in good hands, and that help is always there if you need it. On a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being the highest) I would rate the whole program/doctors an 8. The only downfall is that you have to go through a lot of appointments with different staff members there, and I ended up waiting most of the time for my appointment. Other than that, they have all been really helpful and nice.
6-19-02 Whe I got my official surgury date I was told my surgeon would be Dr. Baker. Dr. Smith's schedual would not work with mine so I guess I get the best end of the deal. Dr. Baker is the founder of this practice and is considered the top gun.
5-2-02 Spoke with the surgeon toady. It is going to be Dr. Dean Smith. He is one of three lap guys at the MMPC in GR, MI. Seemed very congenial and took into consideration my current knowledge. Asked him a few questions and he asked me some also. In the end he said he found no reason why I could not hace the lap surgery.
4-15-02 I go to speak with my new surgeon on April 26,02.
12-6-01 My first impression of him was neat and clean. He asked what I did for a living and after finding out he used that info in talking to me and my husband. He used pictures to demonstrate the things he was talking about and that made things much clearer. He was glad that I had been looking at things over the internet and gave additional refrences to look at. The staff at the BTC in Ann Arbor, I have come to find out, is almost all people who have gone thru this surgury. They were all very friendly, but very focused on the job. I guess my questions were not out of the ordinary because Dr. Lane answered many before I had the chance to ask. He was knowledgable about other surgeons in the field and gave very good comparisons without opinions. Leaving the decisions up to me. It sounds to me like his surgical competence is very high. He does 30-35 surguries a month and knows laparoscopic surgury. Right now I don't know anything about his bed side, but I am thinking about asking for references to contact. I am reserving judgement at this time untill I find out more about him.
Dr. Baker is such an amazing man! I loved him the first minute he walked in the room. He is definately an expert at this and answered all my questions and explained everything to me perfect. I no longer have any worries about this surgery and know that I will be in the best hands. I would give Dr.Baker a 10! Very compassionate man!
I was told he was a good surgeon by my doctor. That he is very careful to cut down the risks of any problems such as blood clots and infections. I was never able to meet him in person as he will take Medicare but you have to pay $2400. up front before he will start you through the things you have to do before surgery.I dont have this kind of money. The office said I would be refunded what Medicare pays but I could still be respondable for part of surgery bill that Medicare wouldnt pay.I checked around he was the only one who said he would except Medicare.
10/15/01 I was so impressed by the fact that Dr. Baker made a point to answer each and every question fully...and made sure that I understood the answers. He is knowledgable, kind, and really knows his business. I appreciate the fact that not only was he point blank and honest, but he let me know that MMPC would be there for the entire journey, not just the surgery. 1/29/02 As of today I can say that I am impressed with Dr. Baker's skill as a surgeon, however, the one appointment I had with him and a brief second in the Pre op holding area were the only two times I talked to him. He has a P.A. who does a lot of his leg work, but I am not sure at this point how I feel about him because he and the nutritionist were getting their wires crossed while I was in the hospital, and I went from a promote protein drink that made me sick (his suggestion) to CIB that made me not quite as sick (her suggestion) back to promote which continued to make me sick. I haven't quite made up my mind what my general opinion of him is yet. 3/20/02 I do have to say that I did get to see Dr. Baker at my second post op appointment, and I was glad about that...he was very encouraging. His P.A. seems to have a better attitude also, in fact has been quite pleasant. I guess we are all allowed a bad day once in a while! :)
