I have meet with Dr. Foote and found him to be very warm and pleasant! He seems to really have his heart devoted to helping people. He did my EGD and made me feel very comfortable then too! I have surgery on May 22nd with him, and feel very confident in him!
***UPDATE***Had my surgery on May 22nd with Dr. Foote. He is an excellent surgeon, and really makes you feel that he cares for you as a person, not a number! He came to see me while waiting to go in for surgery to make sure I was doing ok, and to make sure I knew what was going to happen when I was taken back to the surgical room. I had no surprises as he explained things wonderfully. I had no fears going into this surgery with him, and I have to add that Todd (the one who assisted in my surgery with Dr. Foote) really made things easier also. They both checked on me a few times after surgery, and I was released the next evening!! I can't thank them both enough for the wonderful experience and the honor of having them work on me!!! I would highly recommend Dr. Foote to anyone!!!

I met with Dr. Randal Baker in Grand Rapids, Mi. on April 14,2003. He is a very friendly man and put my husband and myself at ease over my impending surgery even though I am subject hereditaryly to embolisms having one just the week before. His office staff seems to be very friendly and efficient. I liked his easy manner and the way he kept asking if I had any other concerns about surgery. He explained all we would do to prevent blood clots before and after the operation. So far I do not know about the aftercare but have been told by other patients that it is very structured. He addressed all the risks of surgery but also mentioned I will have the same risks with any other surgery and I know that I will have to have some in the future. To date I rate him great but will have to see after surgery. It is better to have surgical competence but I think with Dr. Randal BakerI will also have a doctor with a good bedside manner. These were my personal impressions of my own experience. It might not be the same for another person.
May 24th- I am now post -op. Dr. Baker and his staff brought me through with no trouble. I was in Tuesday and out Thursday. I have very little pain and only five little incisions. I call it a miracle what a good doctor can do. I was very, very happy with him. I rate him a ten. He and his staff came in before surgery and all seemed very caring. My husband was worried because of my bloodclot history but one menber of the staff told him he would take care of me like his own mother. I just can't find any negative things to say.

I have my appt. to meet Dr.Baker in early Feb. I have had my appt. with Dr. VanDyken. He was very nice and agreed the surgery would be good for me to have.
2/10 - I met with Dr. Baker for the first time today. He was nice and patiently answered my questions. He was very confident which made me feel I made a good choice for lap RNY.
5/12-Post OP - Dr.Baker was very good in the hospital - I saw him each day and I saw Todd the P.A. one or two times a day which was very reasurring.

Dr. Foote seemed like a wonderful man as well as a man of faith which was VERY important to me. My surgery was pushed up because of my gallbladder problems so I didn't meet with him as often as other patients might prior to surgery. He is very thorough and makes sure you and your family (support) understand all pros and cons of the surgery. He is also very comfortable to be around and makes you feel like you are free to ask questions. His staff is delightful and save but one phone conversation, all seemed to be highly versed and extremely knowledgeable in their given fields. Aftercare is top priority with this surgeon and his staff which really impressed me. I didn't want to walk out of the surgical room and have to deal with the many changes I would be encountering all by myself. I have yet to begin the aftercare program (except for immediate post-op) but from what I've already learned, the aftercare program is very structured. I am feeling better than I thought I would after only 7 days and would be happy to refer anyone to Dr. Foote. It truly would be difficult to find anything negative to say about this surgeon.

My first impression was that he knew what he was talking about.

My impression of Dr. Baker only grew more positive.
His office staff is very helpful and make you feel like you matter to them.
Nothing.

Dr Baker is very thorough and will answer any questions you may have.
Dr Baker makes sure you know that aftercare is very important.
Yes he does.

He explained the risks completely and clearly. I knew exactly where I stood.
I would rate Dr Baker as one of the best !

I am pre surgery so I can't really answer this question yet but I will after the surgery.

4-13-03 Dr. Foote did my surgery Dec. 6th 2002. I had it lap. I was back to work after 4 weeks. He Explained everthing to me until I understood. He was very good to my family also. A friend of mine also had Dr. Foote. She told me he was quite young but reasured me that everything would be ok. After meeting with Dr. Foote she was right. I felt very comfortable with him. He was a very compationate. The office staff was very nice only had one problem with a schedule. They forgot to write it in the books. (OOPS) He did not just tell you good things about the surgery but also told you all the bad things too. He was honest in everything he told me. Dr. Foote came in to see me and my boyfriend before surgery and after and seen me the day I left making sure I was ready to go home. The after care is a real good thing. They make sure you are doing everthing right. I recently got an oppertunity to be on a T.V. commercial with the dietitian. That was neat. I rate Dr. Foote a 10+ he was wonderful and I would like to thank him so much for giving me my life back. Thanks Dr. Foote!!!!

I really like Dr. Baker, but have only had my initial meeting with him. He is really informative, and of course, knowledgable. He is a member of the ASBS.

He works with MMPC, and the staff there is AMAZING!!! They treat you like an actual person. The office is made special for big people, I love going there!

I will update again after surgery, May 7th!
