I first found out about Dr. Owens when my wife decided to have the surgery. He preformed her surgery back on April 04. She didn't have any problems after or sense the surgery. After seeing how well she is doing, I decided to have the surgery later in Augest and the TriCare Prime sent the letter and within one week I had instruction and lab paperwork from Dr. Owens office. After the labs were completed I was scheduled for pre-op appt. with Dr. Owens with in 2 weeks. It was a long day but very informated. Everything was layed out about the surgery, all the risk and what the aftercare consist of.

My first impression of Dr, Owens was a good one. He was friendly, and took time to listen to my questions and fears. He was very "upfront" about the risks involved and made sure that post-op, I spent time in ICU because of stent implants in my heart. In addition, the office staff is very helpful and knowledgeable.

I would rate Dr. Owens and his staff as outstanding.

Surgical competence is certainly better, but both is great.

My first impression of Dr. Owens was that he was a quiet man. He isn’t very talkative, but I don’t expect him to be my best friend and sit and gab with me for an hour. He is a very busy man. I believe if I had an hours worth of questions he would have sat and answered them. I feel after the research I have found and the patients I have talked to that I have made the right choice. What I do like is that he is very big on aftercare. After talking with others, aftercae is very important. I'll post more after my surgery.

I saw Dr. Owens again today for my one-week post-op appt. I just wanted to say that he is such a kind and encouraging man. I thoroughly enjoyed my appt. (hee hee me enjoying a Dr. appt.) . He is quiet, but he is also very sweet and caring. I highly recommend him. I have had no complications and the after care is unheard of!!!

My first impression of Dr. Owens was that he was nice and caring. After having my surgery and being well attended by him, I love him for giving me this new life. His office staff was friendly and caring. It amazes me how they know you, even if they haven't seen you in a while they know who you are, its AWESOME! Dr. Owens after care is wonderful, he is very informative. The risk of this surgery was told to me off the bat. I would rate on a scale from 1-10 Dr. Owens is a #10. I think both surgical competence and bedside manners are both great he has got it all, him and his staff members are all wonderful, I have no complaints what so ever. I love all of them!

Dr. Owens was very personable and didn't may me feel uncomfortable, like most doctors do. The staff at the San Pedro office is extremely helpful and always there to answer your questions. Overall, I am pleased with my experience at Coastal Center for Obesity.

My original bariatric surgeon delayed submitting my paperwork for 8 months and then cancelled my surgery date 3 times! I was fed up!

I honestly believe things happen for a reason. I met Dr.Owens at the Coastal Center for Obesity surgery orientation. I liked him immediately. He was very respectful and empathetic in dealing with overweight people. His office acted expeditiously in doing the necessary paperwork. My surgery was scheduled at the soonest available date. I was a high risk patient and I appreciated the fact that Dr. owens made sure I received the necessary medical clearances before he gave me a surgery date.

The best part is the nutritional aftercare and professionally supervised support group programs that are available and encouraged by Dr.Owens. My original surgeon did not offer that kind of aftercare. The support group network has been the best part of the program for me.

I am very happy that Dr. owens performed my surgery. He works with highly skilled professionals and they did an excellent job! Dr. Owens is highly recommended. I am rapidly approaching my goal weight in less than a year after surgery! Life is good!

well I havent met Dr. Owens yet however, after my experience with my previous gastric bypass surgeon the research I have done shows Dr. Owens in a much higher category. Dr. Owens is AMAZING....cant say enough about this man...very professional not a huggy hold your hand kind of guy....which is probably a huge turn off to some but for me I needed the facts straight and forward and he gave them too me....if you have had any problems with gastric bypass or your a first time researcher check him out you wont be sorry!

Dr Owens seemed like a very caring surgeon and my impression has never changed of him and his staff. Everyone at the Coastal Obesity Center really makes you feel like part of the family and you have a true sense that they care about your well-being. The are as thorough with the pre-op as they are with the post op. I felt I had a clear picture of what to expect before during and after surgery and as of yet had no surprises. Overall my care was great before during and after surgery I rate this surgeon very highly.

Dr. Milton Owens of the Coastal Center for Obesity in Orange County, California just has to be one of the most professional and knowledgeable bariatric surgeons to date. I cannot say enough about him or his two partners, Dr. Oliak and Dr. Hadjucek, who both saw me during my hospital stay. Their office staff is friendly, helpful and very professional as well. They are kind and courteous to the point of making you feel like part of their 'family'. They handled all my insurance issues. There is a 'Patient Questionnaire' that you can complete on their website (www.coastalobesity.com) and forward right back to them to get the insurance ball rolling. All I did was show up! I'd recommend this Group to anybody suffering the pain of morbid obesity and the desire to have weight loss surgery.

Update: 1/14/2003. At 9 months post-op, I had already been maintaining goal weight for two months and Dr. David Oliak of Coastal Center for Obesity in Orange, CA performed my lower body lift (circumferential dermal lipectomy). I'm 16 days post-op today and cannot believe the body I am looking at is mine. He is meticulous and painstakingly sewed every stitch by hand. My husband said his eyes were bloodshot after the surgery. This surgeon has such skill. Do not hesitate to seek his help with your body contouring after reaching your goal weight. He's fabulous~

David A. Oliak, M.D. - Bio / Curriculum Vitae and Andrew J. Hajduczek, M.D., performed my surgery. They are two of the three doctors of Dr Owens Staff who perform Laproscopic gastric bypass surgery. Dr Hajduczek was the doctor I saw prior to the surgery. I have been seeing Dr Oliak for my follow up visits. The entire staff at Dr Owens office is A-1. I was treated with nothing less than full dignity.This was a new experience for me. Other Doctors always used the fat/weight card for their diagnosis and attitute. At The Coastal Center for Obesity no question was too ridiculous. Even though the Coastal Center for Obesity is based in Orange,Ca, there are support group meetings once a month here in Las Vegas. I recommend the Coastal Center for Obesity with the highest recommendation.
