Central California Bariatric Surgery Bariatric Center
I first met Dr. Coirin @ the seminar and right away, I liked him, he was the one giving all the info and I just thought "this guy makes me feel comfortable with the procedure" I have to admit I really didnt know much about the actual procedure, and I couldnt believe how straight forward he was about the risks and complications, It was great, he didnt try to hide anything, or sugarcoat it, he let you know exactly what could happen, and that dont think that it cant happen to you, I really really liked him alot for that, because I thought about having this surgery done 5 years ago, in San Fran, and the doctor there just didnt seem to really know what the surgery was all about, and I was thinking to myself, hmmm if she doesnt know what she's talking to me about, is she going to know what shes doing when shes inside my body. So, I walked away and thought my dream of becoming thin and healthy was out of the question, until I went to the seminar. I went to my first meeting with Dr. Coirin @ the office, and I was really nervous, I just kept thinking to myself, "He's done this a thousand times, why would you be any different." the office staff was very helpful, they treated me really great, and they made me feel like I had been there plenty of times before, which was a really great feeling. If a complete stranger were to come up to me and ask, "Who would you recommend for my surgery?" I wouldnt hesitate one bit on giving them my doctors name. I had my surgery on 01/31/05 and I had a problem with my legs on the day that I was supposed to go home, they swelled up and my feet and legs hurt so bad and I didnt know what was going on, Dr. Coirin came into see me for my discharge and I told him what was going on, and right away, he told me, that I should stay one more day so that he could get a sonogram done, it wasnt even 1 hour later that i was done with my sonogram, talk about great care, he wanted to make sure that I didnt have blood clots forming, and he made sure that my health and care was taken care of fast. If you havent been able to tell so far, I have not one bad thing to say about my surgeon, or his staff, I am 100% satisfied with him and thank him each and everyday in my prayers for caring for me and for helping me on my brand new journey through life.
Did not have him originally - I was with Dr. Coirin first but my insurance company did not recognize him as a surgeon. I was given the choice of waiting the 6-8 months to get it fixed or I could go with Dr. Coates. I did not meet him until surgery date and that was kind of weird. He was very friendly and spoke at the seminar I first attended. The office staff is very nice and helpful. I sort of feel like I am on my own now that I am post op. I had my one week appointment and then don't go back until my 1 month. I have questions still but don't know who to ask. As far as bedside manner, Dr. Coates is so busy with doing surgeries that he has his P/A's do all aftercare. I guess that is just the way it is these days. Overall I am very happy that I made the leap - I just wish I had a little more support.
Well really my whole experience with him and his staff was great... And my impression of him and the staff just keep getting better and better.. The staff is there anytime u have a Question... i would and have referred people to him... everyone is on the feet on surgery day .. everyone thats going to be in the operating room with u they all ask u the same questions which is a good thing just in case u messed u .. then the'll catch it and talk with u and the doc about it.. because everyone gets nervous and messes up sometimes when they talk... me i was a big chicken when i went in. but they all made me feel right at home .. so to speak.. so u see all ihave to say is good things about him and his staff..... there a busy office but they help when they can..
I followed Dr Coates work for 3 years before I ever met him. Three of my good friends had Bariatric Surgery and he was there Doctor.I watched how well they did. And that helped me to decide to pick him to do my Surgery.
I researched and gained alot of knowledge from Dr. Coates and his staff. The girls in his office are very friendly.
I only wish I could of talked to him on my pr-op appointment he was in a meeting and another PA did that appointment. But he did reassure me before surgery and that put me at ease. Dr. Coates is very easy to talk to and he lisens to his patients. The after care in the hospital was great. The Nurses are very well trained in how to take care of you. I did have some swelling and I could'nt even get a sip of water it would come up. But after a couple of days the swelling went done and I was able to swallow.
I stayed an extra day in the hospital until I was able to get broth and jello down. And
Then it was home I have lost 40lbs in three weeks. and I feel great! I take my vitamens and exersize every day. I am so glad I had this done.
The first time I met Dr. Coats was at the orientation he presented on 11/2/04. His presentation was very informative and easily understood. He appeared to be a down to earth person. He answered everyone's questions with confidence and with out no hesitation. I learned a lot from Dr. Coat's orientation. He was very honest about the risks of surgery. He did not try to sugar coat anything. After listening to Dr. Coats I am glad that I had picked him for my surgeon.
I had my consultation with Dr. Coirin on tuesday Nov 16th. My first impression of him was good. He seems like a really gentle soft spoken man. I was really glad to meet him in person for the first visit because I was really nervous. I soon felt comfortable and the whole consult went pretty quickly. He was very informative and answered any questions I had. I'm happy with the decision that was made for him to be my surgeon. (UPDATE) I recently found out that I had to change to Dr. Coates because pacific care would not approve Dr. Coirin to perform my surgery so I switched. Dr. Coates will perform my surgery and I'm fine with that decision I was impressed with him at the orientation and I think I will be just fine with him.
I really liked Dr. Coirin he seemed to be a very kind and caring person. I still have the same opinion of him now. His office staff are very busy all the time and sometimes and unorganized but they are getting better. Everyone there seems nice. There was nothing that is disliked about him. Up to now I really like Dr. Coirin he is very nice and from what I have heard he has a great bed side manner. They whole office puts a big emphasize on after care and wants to make sure that you follow there instruction very carefully so that you will have a very successful outcome. He address all the risks of the surgery and they have sent me to many classes to learn all about the ins and outs of the surgery. My overall rating on Dr. Coirin is great he is a good man and I have full trust in his ability. I frell that both surgical competence and bedside manner are equal.
Dr. Coirin was very polite . I first met him during the seminar and I was very impressed.
My Husband came with me to the consultation because he wasnt able to come to the seminar with me. Dr. Coirin took his time and explained everything surgically to my husband that would be done to me. He told us both all the risks that were involved and then asked us if we had any questions. The staff was good ...I had to wait a half hour past my appointment time but that was okay ..I can not recall in any doctors office that I have been too that has called me on time.. :o) It was all worth it....Now Im just looking forward to the surgery !!
Hopefully very SOON
