Getting back on track with exercise

Mar 11, 2008

152.2   I went to Stephanie's gym with her last night and we did a workout out of this Biggest Loser book she had from the library. I am going to start up Slim in 6 again I think. I am a little sore, I think I will do Yoga before I do SI6 today. I was sore from bowling! I need to workout! LOL

Whew....That was a good workout!! I pushed it! :) I am going to be sore tomorrow! The more stretching and the more water I drink the less sore I will be, but I really worked these muscles of mine today! I did SI6 RIU and instead of doing the abdominals at the end of that video I did the extra abdominal routine that is about 10mins long. Now I am drinking my protein shake before I do my yoga.

I took a nap and then did yoga and after that I went outside to enjoy the beautiful day and try to get some sunshine to help with my mood and I went for a 2 mile walk!!

I'm pretty sure I am going to be sore tomorrow! LOL I think I will use the extra time I have in the mornings to do some AM yoga or something. Otherwise I am going to be hurting all week from starting up SI6 again.

157.6   I moved on to week 3 of my C25K training today. I ran for 90 seconds, walked for 90 seconds then ran for 3 mins and walked for 3 mins then repeated that. I went 1.983 miles and did the usual 1.5% incline 3.5mph for walking and 5mph for the running. Whew. That felt good. I did great with the breathing part of it, but my legs aren't used to running that long! By the end of the week I should be doing pretty good though and be able to move on again to the next week of training. I have time if I end up needing to repeat any of the weeks.

I made a nummy post-workout protein shake tonight. 1/2 Cup milk, 1/2 Cup Edy's No Sugar Added vanilla ice cream, one scoop of unjury chocolate protein powder and some crushed ice to make it thicker. MMM MMM good!!!

I realized today it's almost March, which means it's almost April which means the weather will be warming up!!!! OMG I can't wait for warm weather. I am so sick of being cold!!! It's a small price to pay for being so much healthier and fit and active and all that but dang, bring on the hot weather!!

Running update

Feb 23, 2008

159.4   I finished up my first week of my C25K today. I ran Tues, Thurs and today! I did week 2 of the training program and I will be moving onto the 3rd week of the training next week on Monday. I went 2 miles today at the usual 3.5mph for the walking parts and 5mph for the running parts at a 1.5% incline.

Doing very well

Feb 21, 2008

161   I ran on Tuesday when I got home from work. Did week 2 of my C25K training program. Went 1.953 miles, walked at a 3.5mph pace and ran at a 5mph pace.

I raced home from work today so I could get my run in, showered and got ready as quick as I could so I could go out to dinner to the Texas Roadhouse with my mom, sis, niece and nephew. I ordered a shrimp skewer appetizer. I had a bite of my sister's chicken though and it sat like a rock in my pouch so I only ended up having 3 pieces of shrimp. That's ok though.

While I was waiting for the rest of my family to show up I drank my whole glass of water, thru a straw! The water had ice in it too!! I am so thrilled to be able to drink cold liquids again!! It's amazing how much you take that for granted, and then 3 months of not being able to do it really makes you appreciate it. I know for some people straws are uncomfortable because you can drink too much and hurt or swallow air and be uncomfortable. Some people though, it makes drinking fluids easier. I thought I would try the other day and see which one I am. LOL I can do straws just fine!! :)

I went 1.972 miles today, same speeds for walking and running. I have my incline set at 1.5% since it's easier to run on a treadmill rather than on the road. I should register for my 5K soon to help keep me going with my running.

3 Month Update

Feb 19, 2008

161   It's a few days past my 3 month surgiversary, but better late than never. I had my 3 month check up, 71% of my excess weight is gone!! Gone forever!! I am down 78lbs as of this morning. That is total since April of last year.

I was shown my pics from my very first appointment and we took new pics. WOW!!!! I can't wait to get copies of those before pics from when I was in the office for the first time at my highest weight of 239lbs.

Cold liquids are going down great now!! I love it. I am so glad the pouch spasms have stopped.

Well time to go workout. I haven't worked out in quite a while it seems like, week and a half or so. I have been so tired and kind of in a funk. I am feeling more energetic though. Going to go hop on the treadmill and do my running program. I definitely want to run that 5K in May so I have got to get training!

MMM MMM

Feb 17, 2008

162.4   Off of a suggestion from my dear friend Lucy I picked up some Edy's No Sugar Added Vanilla Ice Cream and put half a cup in a protein shake with frozen raspberries, milk, and low sugar raspberry juice and a scoop of protein powder, nummy!!!

I'm out of vanilla protein powder now, I have unflavored though. I think I may try chocolate powder with the ice cream and some milk and see if I like the taste of that. Or maybe I will throw in some strawberries and make it chocolate strawberry. I entered it into Fitday and it's 29g of protein!

I picked up some new chewable multivitamins today. I was getting sick of the orange flavored Centrum chewables and the Flintstone's chewables are so much lower in everything they contain that I don't feel like it's really enough. I picked up some Centrum Silver chewables, they're Citrus Berry flavored, it was a nice change. It doesn't have iron so on the days I take those I need to make sure I take a Vitron C that day.

Ooooh. For Valentine's day a woman at work got me a box of Viactiv calcium chewables. It's the thought that counts, they weren't the right ones of what I wanted so I went to Walgreen's today and exchanged them for the Adora Calcium chocolates. They'll be a nice treat every once in awhile when I am sick of my chalky chewable ones.

Started running again

Feb 03, 2008

165.6   The Mothers' Day Race for the Cure is coming up in May so I began my 9 week training program for it today. I should finish the training program and be running 5K a few times a week by early April. The last time I did this running program I did repeat a couple of weeks here and there.

When I got started today I planned to start with week 1 of the training, but by the time my first minute of running was done I was ok to keep going and felt pretty good so I did week 2's training. I weighed myself before and after exercise to see how much water I lost, and it was the same before and after. I adequately hydrated myself during exercise.

Today I did

1.925 miles
3.5 mph walking
5 mph running
1.5% incline
30 mins total
Run 90 seconds walk 2 mins

Now for the protein shake :)

Hydration Update

Jan 26, 2008

168.2   The scale hasn't gone up as I have been rehydrating myself. I drank about 16oz of gatorade last night and immediately began to feel better. So far I have my gatorade in for the day, 32oz. Now I need to get my 32oz of water in. I bought an 8-pack of 20oz bottles of gatorade and plan to have one after my workouts each day.

Dehydration

Jan 25, 2008

I haven't been feeling that well recently. I would say the past 2 weeks I have been really fatigued and a general icky feeling. I did 3 weeks of SI6 6 days a week. I think I dehydrated myself in the process. I drink my water and I have been doing really good at getting it in. However it's not enough.

I have been getting tingly all over and nauseated. Right after I got off of work today I walked over to my clinic and was able to be seen right then. After discussing my symptoms and what I have been doing the past few weeks and such we're pretty sure I am dehydrated and have gas from the beans in the chili I have been having for lunch all week. LOL

I went to the lab and they drew blood. If the labs were abnormal they were going to call me, but I haven't received a call. No news is good news. They told me to drink gatorade in place of half of my water intake to rehydrate myself. I might just drink a small bottle of it each day with how much I work out.

At least now I know why my energy went in the toilet and why I haven't been feeling well. It all makes sense now. I didn't recognize the signs. I didn't notice the dark urine because it gets diluted right away in the toilet. I thought I was getting in all of my water, never thought it could be that.

So I ended up doing 3 weeks of SI6 and have done a couple of days here and there since and went to the gym with Steph. Otherwise I haven't been working out this week and last week from the dehydration. I don't feel like quite as much of a failure for not keeping up with my workouts when now I realize I was dehydrated!

Gotta get rehydrated and stay that way!! Then I can get back into my workouts. Oh yeah, and it explains losing 10lbs in a week, I was looking up dehydration on the internet and it says a significant amount of weight loss is a sign. Not looking forward to gaining that weight back, oh well it'll be good for me.
