Gary Anthone, MD, FACS Organization
Dr. Anthone is the GREATEST surgeon! If I have a problem he takes the call personally, does not matter if at night or on the weekend. He is truely caring for all of his patients! If I had to do the surgery I would go to him all over again.
His office staff is FANTASTIC! They give great care and help. I cannot say enough about Christy (receptionist) Angie, and Denise are very caring nurses!
I have yet to notice anything yet about Dr. Anthone that I do not like.
Dr Anthone is very compassionate when it comes to helping his patients! Dr. Anthone is always there for his patients after surgery. Yes he does it is all laid out during his educational classes. Dr Anthone makes no bone about the fact that it is major surgery and there is always the possiblilty of complications, but he makes every effort to minimize any possible complications. On a scale of 1 to 10 he is a 20. Dr. Anthone has both and if you are in Omaha, Nebraska, and thinking about having Biatric Surgery you could not ask for a better overall Doctor/Surgeon! The best thing that I could say is go to his educational class speak to him and judge for yourself. I am so thankful to have my life back, it is very easy for me to say all these wonderful things about Dr. Anthone. I have had 1 setback since surgery and that is an infection in a hernia site, but Dr. Anthone has been VERY INVOLVED in getting this taken care of as well.
My first impression of Dr. Anthone was that he was caring, compassionate, and truly loves his career path. He has a true passion in helping the morbidly obese. He is professional, and very good at explaining all the risks of a major surgery such as this. He was very welcoming with my husband and all of his questions as well. Also told us not to hesitate in contacting him in the future if we had any further quesitons.
My impression of Dr. Anthone has stayed the same, but I feel he is truly Gifted in what he does. He is the best of the best in my book. He took very good care of me, and continues this journey with me in my recovery.
The staff is more than wonderful and very knowledgeable regarding the issues related to the surgery, dietary questions that arise, and are truly a breath of fresh air to speak to.
I can't think of anything that I liked least of Dr. Anthone, or his Staff. Everyone is absolutely wonderful.
Future patients need not to look any further for a surgeon, Dr. Anthone is the best. He loves his career and you can definately tell.
He has expressed that the aftercare is VERY VERY IMPORTANT. Appointments are necessary to make sure that a patient is getting all the necessary vitamins, and enough liquids and protein.
I would rate Dr Anthone the BEST OF THE BEST, TOP NOTCH!! He is not only a great surgeon, but one of the nicest Doctors that I personally have ever met. He is GREAT!!
i loved gary anthone from the first time i met him. he made me feel so comfortable. he is a wonderful doctor and person. he saved my life. his office staff is wonderful. i am sad to see him leave usc university hospital but happy for the new patients in ne. that will have the opportunity to have his help.
I was very impressed with Dr. Anthone's information session. He is very honest.
As a nurse, I know the importance of experience. He has done over 1000 of these surgeries. He is confident in his surgical technique, and in complication management. He explains that he is very methodical, doing the same thing, going through the same steps every time. I know I am in good hands with him!
His nurse, Denise, has also had WLS. She is very kind, professional, and has 'been there.' Christy, his office assistant is a sweetheart. Very organized, always pleasant, and never makes me feel like I am bothering her with all my questions....
I would give all of them a TEN!!!
Dr Anthone was in California at the time USC Medical Center. He seemed to be shy, but spoke clear and was very open about all the risk. That did frighten me. He is a very kind man. concerned about my over ALL well being. Not just parts of me. All office staff were kind and willing to help me understand. I was very afraid of having the upper-d. Maria his asst came in with me. Held me through the hole thing. That he move out of california and I was not nofied. Future patients should know that he is a no-non-since doctor. Frim, but fair. Tell it like it is.
For the first year it was a MUST. Even if you/i couldnt pay right then, He told me I was to come to the appointments .
Aftercare groups in his area. I lived over an hour away and couldnt make his meeting.
1-10 10 being the best......12.
Both.....you MUST have a great bedside manner. helping the patients feel that you as the doctor truely feel for them. Surgical competence speaks for its self. If you are NOT a good surgical doctor, your bedside manner real doesnt matter....your patients would be to ill to care and or dead.
DR.ANTHONE AND HIS STAFF ARE AWESOME!! I AM SO COMFORTABLE WITH THEM AND FEEL VERY SAFE TO HAVE HIM FOR MY SURGEON. HE HAS A WHOLE WALL FULL OF DIPLOMAS AND IS VERY THOROUGH IN ASKING ?'S. I CAN'T WAIT!
Friendly/informative

Yes, carefully explained everything
10+
Both!!
Very caring. Good followup. He did have aftercare program but I moved out of the Los Angeles area. One of the few (compared with standard roux en y) who does the duodenal switch version. I am extremely happy with my results! My diabetes has been in full remission since the surgery. I enjoy an excellent lifestyle. I am very happy that I chose this procedure over the standard roux en Y.
Only complaint is the practice in CA was swamped. I also felt USC University Hospital was understaffed.
He definitely knows what he is doing. He is very caring and so is his staff. They take the time to answer any questions. After surgery I believe there are to be many visits for folowups. As far as risks, he covered every one of them in his presentation, at the consultation, and again at pre-op visits, as well as handouts.
I would rate him a 10 as of now on a scale of 1-10, let me get thru the surgery and then I will tell you more.
I love Dr Anthone and all in his office. They have all been so helpful. I tried to find a surgeon in the KC area but all were either quitting or were being forced to quit in this area by the hospitals. The physicians information on here is VERY outdated. Information is no longer valid on Dr. Siefers or any other surgeon in the KC area except Dr. Ali. Dr. Anthones office ahs helped me to meet all the requirements my insurance company has required. I went to a seminar in Omaha he gave and found that he is very caring about obese people. I think he will be the best thing since sliced bread for me! I will update more after my surgery. I found a friend on here in Omaha named Yvette and she has been very supportive and wonderful. She has done a lot for someone she barely knew. She is an angel for me. She plans to come to the hospital when I have surgery. Thank you Yvette!
