William Beaumont Hospital-Royal Oak Hospital
The hosptial staff during my surgery stay was great for the most part. However, I went back to the ER post op and the staff there was the pits. I do think they need to have the WLS patients room together if possible. Imagine my discomfort when my roomates family brought up damn near a buffet for her to eat. I do really like how they keep your records concealed, I have a nosey friend who is a nurse and was dying to see how much I weighed pre-op and would have been snooping all through my records. Beaumont overall is a wonderful hospital and deserve their very good reputation.
Beaumont provides all WLS patients with a pre-surgery orientation put on by Michelle High who is a Beaumont RN who has had surgery and has lost an amazing 225 pounds. She is the advocate for all WLS patients at the hospital and works with the staff to make sure that all is taken care of and handled appropriately for the obese.
My experience was very positive.
I felt that he was straight forward & very inerested in helping me on this journey. The office staff also are very helpful. They have a very complete care plan for pre-op & post op with assistance available with a phone call. I feel this is a very complete program & offers any help you could need or want. I would rate the programs & physcians top notch.
The pre-op support staff was amazing, the surgeon was incredible, and the nurses and staff on the post op floor
were the best I have ever dealt with
They were attentive, compassionate,
respectful and supportive. They went out of their way to make me feel comfortable, and to accomodate me.
Its hard enough to deal with a regular
sized patient, but it takes real skill and
dedication to deal effectively with a
recouperating obese patient. I can't thank them enough.
I felt so comfortable with all the staff, I had an excellent nurse who always helped me when needed and Dr Chengelis was the best!!!
Havent had surgery yet...but so far very satisfied with the staff and doctors
Outstanding, pre op seminar and post op services
Excellent bariatric pre op and post op program. The best out there.
LIKED DR. BACAL RIGHT OFF. HE WAS RIGHT TO THE POINT, AND VERY DIRECT WITH THE WHOLE PROCEDURE. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE SURGERY, HE WAS THERE AT MY SIDE AND NEVER ONCE DID I FEEL I HAD BEEN LEFT ALONE. DURING MY HOSPITAL STAY, HE CHECKED ON ME CONSTANTLY. THE STAFF IN HIS OFFICE IS WONDERFUL, NICE, POLITE AND VERY CONSIDERATE.
THE BILL......AND SOME OF THE STAFF AT THE HOSPITAL
IF I EVER NEED SURGERY AGAIN, I WILL ONLY SETTLE FOR DR. BACAL TO PERFORM IT.
AS MUCH, IF NOT MORE THEN THE PRE-OP
ABSOLUTELY, IF YOU CAN'T FOLLOW HIS PROGRAM YOU WILL NOT SUCEED.
EVERY RISK, ALL THE WAY TO THE WORST SITUATION
A MAN WHOM TRULY CARES AND PEOPLE AND THEIR QUALITY OF LIFE
BOTH, YOU NEED THE EMOTIONAL SUPPORT AS WELL AS A PROESSIONAL

I was very impressed with Dr. Wagner from the first meeting. He took the time to answer all my questions and didn't seem rushed in the least (unlike other Doctors in the same office)In the follow up at the Hospital and the office, Dr. Wagner has always seemed genuinely concerned with my well being and always takes the time to discuss any problems or concerns. I would rate him at the top of the scale, and consider myself fortunate to have had him for a Doctor.
